We just recently lost our son and he was still born I called a couple funeral homes and they charged 1000$ to have him cremated. I called Henson and kitchen and they told me that they would do it absolutely free! So thankful to have people that actually care and are truly godly people! 🙏🏼

When I got the call my mom had passed I knew I was gonna have a hard time dealing with everything. From day one these very nice people were there for me and always there to help or answer questions. I’m so grateful that I got to receive help from everyone that works here. They treated me like family and tried to help make things easy since this was my first time doing anything like cremating a loved one that isn’t a pet. Thank you guys for being there for me when I was in need of help and in my most vulnerable moment. I love how everything was done and was set up for me when I went to pick up my mom and I love most that during the whole time I was grieving I was always checked on and given updates on how everything was going.

My experience with Henson & Kitchen Funeral Home was outstanding. This review is way overdue. My husband passed away in February but I haven't been able to write this until now. I had to come from Georgia to West Virginia to be with my husband in hospice care. From the moment the gentlemen from the funeral home arrived at the hospice facility to tweeking final arrangements, this business was caring, compassionate, and professional. My husband was a veteran and they provided a flag to cover him for a walk of honor from hospice to the funeral home. ♡ They later presented me with that flag, which was very meaningful. Two things I must mention are 1.) I discovered I had a dead car battery at my hotel, when I was leaving for my appointment with the funeral home. I knew no one in WV. When I called to let them know I would need to reschedule and the reason why, they graciously offered and sent an employee to come give me a jump, then follow me to their business, then jumped my car a second time so I could get down the street to an auto parts store. Wow! 2.) I originally paid to have my husband's ashes shipped to me back in GA. The funeral home made a special effort to have the cremation completed and his ashes available for me to take home with me. On top of that, they gave me a wooden locked box for his ashes in exchange for the money I originally paid for the shipping. At such a hectic and difficult time, I was so impressed with the business's honesty and attention to detail on my behalf. I can't recommend Henson & Kitchen enough! Thank you all so much.

Our dear sweet fur-baby had passed. 😿 Dustin was so caring and helpful through this sorrowful time. He helped with transportation and other arrangements; he even made a mold of her paws. 🐾 When I arrived to pick up Kaluha's ashes, there were even laminated cards honoring her with the rainbow bridge poem - enough for all family members. Fred is absolutely amazing! He made our experience the best it could possibly be.In a hard emotional time of losing my daddy, Fred made it as easy as he could and met all our wants and needs and definitely earned our trust.He took his time with us, we never felt rushed from the moment my dad passed , and he has been kind and compassionate answering every little question we had. This establishment deserves 10 stars instead of 5. I honestly cannot say enough good about the beautiful, loving, and compassionate treatment we were given after our puppy was tragically killed. We couldn't begin to navigate the grieving process on our own; just beside ourselves in sorrow. Dustin, in particular, went above and beyond to show us what a treasure someone can be even in the hardest of life circumstances. I am so amazed by the entire experience with Henson & Kitchen and forever grateful for all you have done. Best business I could have chosen when I needed them. They let me bring in my sweet dog Bo on Christmas Eve to have him cremated. I really felt like we had someone who cared for us during our time of grief and helped us. When I went to pick up his cremains they had everything ready for me and had my necklace with his cremains ready. These people really care and helped me during one of the most difficult times of my life. I can’t say enough good things about this business. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for treating our little Bo with such care.

I decided to cremate my dog Sophia after 2 years of burial and Henson & Kitchen assisted me with no hesitation! They were very courteous and professional as well as thoroughly explaining the what, who, and how the cremation process would be done. They had several options for urns and I felt comfortable with them cremating my dog when being reassured she wouldn't get lost or mixed up with other remains/ashes. Can I mention the fees for everything were not overly expensive? I brought my dog in on Monday, and I got a call saying she was ready by Wednesday. The hour drive to this facility was definitely worth it, especially wanting to cremate my dog on such short notice. I now have my dog back in the house and one day when it's my time to go, I can have her urn buried with me. Thank you to the staff at Henson & Kitchen for their help. I highly recommend them if you're able to get your animal transported to their location. I was absolutely satisfied with their services.

The planning of our brother’s service was handled via phone calls and zoom from states away and everything turned out perfectly. Henson & Kitchen took care of all the details so when our family arrived, all we had to do was have the service. It was perfect. They took the time to fulfill all of our requests, from simple details to playing our brother’s favorite songs. This past weekend we had to make the decision to put our Labrador Retriever to sleep after a battle with cancer. Henson & Kitchen was very helpful and courteous. From being available early on a Saturday morning to adjusting to changing plans they made the process of picking up our dog’s remains as easy as can be. Fred Kitchen was super supportive and always available for contact and assistance all through the weekend.Making the final decision for a loved animal is so hard but Henson & Kitchen made their part of the process as easy and supportive as can be. You can tell that they understand and sympathize a pet’s role in the family.

From first call upon my father’s passing to the weeks following his service, our entire family was treated with honesty, dignity, professionalism and - most importantly - caring from Dakota and the rest of the Henson-Kitchen team. The planning of our brother’s service was handled via phone calls and zoom from states away and everything turned out perfectly. Henson & Kitchen took care of all the details so when our family arrived, all we had to do was have the service. It was perfect. This past weekend we had to make the decision to put our Labrador Retriever to sleep after a battle with cancer. Henson & Kitchen was very helpful and courteous. From being available early on a Saturday morning to adjusting to changing plans they made the process of picking up our dog’s remains as easy as can be. Henson & Kitchen Mortuary was an excellent place for my Mother's services. They are very compassionate and guided me through every step of this difficult process and time. Fred Kitchen was more than willing to meet with me anytime I was ready to proceed. He provided all of the information I needed to complete the services and every detail was given much thought. I couldn't have asked for better people to provide us with this service. The mortuary itself is beautiful. Though it is a silly detail, the place smells so clean and fresh (unlike others I have visited). The mortuary appears to be well taken care of, it has up-to-date furnishings and it is evident that much thought has went into the sound equipment. So many options were available to us such as live-streaming the funeral, video recording, ordering flowers through the funeral home, keepsake jewelry and a banquet room for a luncheon after the services. Everything was so pleasant - I cannot say enough wonderful things about this mortuary and the people that take care of it. Fred continues to check up on us - it is very heart warming.As a bonus - there is a library sitting area and a café room with Marshall University authentic props from the movie "We Are Marshall". These were both nice areas for our family and friends to visit and step away for a little while. I would give them more than 5 stars if it were an option!

I called them asking about cremation for my rabbit. They were so kind and caring through the entire progress. They even went in early to pick her up from the emergency vet where she was at. They are very professional. Very affordable yet quality work. I will not hesitate to use them again for future fur babies. They went above and beyond what I asked for. From the moment I spoke with the facility I experienced nothing but professionalism. It was Christmas Eve and we had unexpectedly lost my brother.. Dakota right away was ready to do anything he could to help me have the perfect arrangement that we wished of having but funds were tight. He went above and beyond discounting our services and he reached out the to cemetery to organize all of that so I didn’t have to. Any follow up or questions I had were answered if not right away then within a timely manner. Then the service itself was so smoothly and was perfect. These people are wonderful, especially Fred. We had to call him on Christmas Day, needing somewhere to take our beloved dog to be cremated. I apologized over and over because it was Christmas but he said not to worry and to meet him at the facility. He was so comforting and asked about our boy. Not the "he's just a dog" mentality. He let us have a moment with our dog alone to say our final goodbyes. He had all the paperwork ready for us, we didn't know what to expect but he was very helpful through the process.

Mr. Kitchen was as kind and caring as he was professional. During a difficult time he was accessible for questions and he walked us through all the options without any pressure to unnecessarily use limited resources. We had never planned a service or burial before, but I was confident in letting Mr. Kitchen handle the details and coordination. He was comforting and I cannot imagine a better person to have helped my family.

The day I had my dog put down, they came and picked her up. They took care of having her cremated for me. The ashes were back in less than a week. They had several choices of items to place these in. I chose a dark gray metal urn with white dog prints. They took care of putting the ashes in the urn and gave it to me along with a laminated card of remembrance. These people are wonderful, especially Fred. We had to call him on Christmas Day, needing somewhere to take our beloved dog to be cremated. I apologized over and over because it was Christmas but he said not to worry and to meet him at the facility. He was so comforting and asked about our boy. Not the "he's just a dog" mentality. He let us have a moment with our dog alone to say our final goodbyes. He had all the paperwork ready for us, we didn't know what to expect but he was very helpful through the process.
