We were referred to Agape through our emergency vet we used. We knew this was coming so we did call and talk about the pricing so that wasn’t a surprise to us when it came time. Honestly the price was similar to the price we paid 15 years prior to. We got the remains back within 5 days. When I opened the box I was so impressed with everything they did. I was really skeptical about the paw print but when I saw it I knew it was our beloved basset hounds big paw. I would highly recommend Agape.

This is a hard review to do - the people in the local office are wonderful and caring. However, since they are owned by a Canadian company who cares more about the bottom line than they do your piece of mind - they have to use the USPS to deliver remains. That means anxiety that your pet will ever arrive - ours was stuck for almost a week without any update. No one in the Harrisburg Distribution Center answers their phone or returns calls. When I contacted Gateway - the corporate owner - I got nothing - three times - they could care less. All the best to Carissa and Shawn in the Hedgesville office. To hell with Gateway.

Referred to Agape through the Vet. Quick and efficient service despite inclement weather. Communication via phone and email was prompt and courteous. The remains arrived well packaged and in quality materials, very nice presentation. My only criticism is that the package was sent USPS with signature confirmation. I would have preferred to have the option ( even at a higher cost) for a commercial delivery service.

We unexpectedly lost our 11 year old dog, our beloved family member, my children’s childhood girl. It was heartbreaking and still is. Our emergency vet sent her to Agape in WV for the cremation services. An Agape representative reached out to me the next day and walked me through the next steps, as we were still in shock. She came back to us 5 days later respectfully & thoughtfully packed with love and care. Her mahogany box with a photo insert and name plate is beautiful, and so is her paw print case with nameplate - just perfect and beautiful. The items came in velvet and satin bags and we were able to take her paw print on an upcoming trip like we always did, traveling with her. I unpacked her remains with weeping eyes, but the way you honored her healed me so, and you got her home to us safely. I was unconsolable and feeling very unsettled until she made it home. It means so much to us, and we are eternally grateful. Thank you so much, Agape <3

The moment I was greeted by Clarissa, the young lady in the office, I knew I had made the right choice for my beloved Journey. The sincere caring and kindness Clarissa showed me was such a comfort. This dear girl was crying with me.In a few days I picked up my precious Journeys' ashes, and a stone with his pawprint. The pawprint stone was beautifully done...nothing like others from previous crematories. Agape will be the only cremation center I will ever trust with my precious kitties from now on. Thank you Agape...God bless you,Darlene Unger and my angel kitty Journey

I really don't post bad reviews but I have to, I recently lost my dog, he was taking to Waldorf emergency hospital but passed away in route. The hospital referred me to Agape in which the price was outrageous. The price started at 300 and that's just for the Urn, I asked agape why is the price so high and they said we always had our price like this. So I said the last company charged me 250 dollars for the urn, paw print, and his name tag. Agape starts at 300 so anything extra is an up charge. So I ended up paying for a paw print that wasn't the best option and I had to pay for shipping and handling making my total 397 dollars. I'm very disappointed because there was no room for negotiation, they kept sending me emails saying I need to make a decision asap or they will just cremate my dog and do away with his remains which put me under pressure to even look for better pricing so I paid 100 dollars to buy more time so I can get the balance together. Agape was only concerned about getting paid I doubt very seriously that they are really sorry for your loss because if they was they may have honored the 250 which would have included the name tag, paw print and urn. I was curious and decided to call Maryland pet crematory and they told me 200 dollars and that was for the urn, paw print, and a piece of fur no other extra fees, so yes there are other companies out there that understand that everyone can't afford these high prices to cremate your pet. I wish I wasn't so vulnerable and rushed at the same time or I would have called around to other companies. Folks do your homework before letting your emotions and this company put you under pressure.

My experience with Agape was less than ideal and made the passing of my 10 year old rabbit (Angel) much worse than it had to be. I had wanted to receive back her ashes but ultimately ended up opting for the communal cremation where the ashes are not returned. My vet uses Agape, and when I took Angel to have her euthanized, they gave me a quote that the starting rate for private cremation and return of ashes was about $232. It was only a few minutes after putting Angel down that I received Agape's first email advising of the need to choose what I wanted to do with Angel's remains and giving me a deadline of when the information was needed.Besides this, there was a substantial difference in the rate quoted by the vet's office and the rate provided to me by Agape. The private cremation rate that Agape quoted for Angel was $309. It's understood that the vet's office had quoted a starting rate, but Agape's rate was still much more than that, and this is for an animal that weighed less than five pounds. The day after Angel's passing, I emailed Agape asking about the difference in rates and was advised that the rate is based on the information received from the vet. This did not explain why there was such a large difference. I also inquired if there would be any difference in rates due to the fact that I had purchased my own urn. I was advised that the $309 cost quoted was actually just for the cremation, and the urn was complimentary. So if I opted for a private cremation, I would only have a choice of the limited urns offered by Agape, as opposed to one I had already purchased for Angel, which was a black rabbit as she had been. It was also unclear how the urns are complimentary. Is Agape receiving the urns via donation and that's how they are free? It seems more likely that the cost of the urn is built into the price. There was no option to have a communal cremation and receive at least some of Angel's ashes back. There was no option to receive the ashes in a properly sealed bag or other container. There was no option to pick up the ashes to save on cost. The email exchanges with the representative took place the day after Angel passed away, and at 5:00 pm that day I received another email, asking what my decision was and reminding me of the deadline. I sent an email later that evening that I wanted to do the communal cremation. In another unfortunate turn of events when dealing with Agape, I received a call the next morning inquiring as to what my decision was. I asked the Agape representative if they had seen the email that I sent the evening before, and they said they had not received it. I advised they needed to check because I had sent my decision already. I also advised that the way Agape was handling this situation was making everything worse, including that I was having to explain this over the phone when I had already provided my decision in writing. I also advised that the prices they were charging were quite high, and way over what had been initially quoted (even as a starting quote), especially for such a small animal. The Agape representative basically acknowledged nothing and then proceeded to ask if I wanted to pay over the phone or via computer. I said I would pay via computer and ended the call.It really just added insult to injury the way everything was handled. I received a final auto-generated email from Agape advising that they are pet owners too and know how difficult this. Really? Agape made this so much more difficult in the way they handled everything. I would have never chosen Agape if I had been aware of the way they operate their business. Beware.

As existing is a circular experience, our beloved pet unexpectedly was laid to rest last week. Such sadness! But we are also in a situation where we will be moving out of the country in a couple of weeks. We were worried that we might not receive our kitty’s remains back before leaving! The vet hospital called Agape and we were assured that we would receive our lil guy back in time. We did and he was memorialized beautifully! Thank you all so much. What a special service you provide those in delicate times!

Don't go by the picture of the building, it's in an apple orchard, you'd think it would be nice but the building just looks like a huge garage, it was very confusing and when we finally figured out where to park and where the door was we saw some things we didn't really want to see and we were sort of rushed to sign a paper and leave. They also were supposed to call us when our baby was ready, when we called them to check on the status they simply said you have to come before 5, so even though they told us they'd call they did not.
Heath Dingwell
Offensive pricing on the memorial items they sell. Normally I just get a clay paw print of my pets when they've passed, and that's always been included in the price of a cremation. Not here - it's $64 for a clay print in a fake leather frame. Can only imagine that profit margin on each print sold.

We used Agape through our use of Peaceful Passage. While PP was great, I would highly recommend against using Agape for the aftercare services for the following reasons:-The clay paw print and ink paw print look terrible. I had been looking forward to making a tasteful display honoring my cat, but I don't want to display them with how bad they look. PP did the right thing and refunded, but yet I was told by Agape that they were within their "quality standards." My cat was already cremated, there was no ability to rectify this.-They engraved the urn with his name but did not solicit my input on the font (or even let me know that I should choose). The font they chose is ugly. At least they delivered another urn with no resistance, though not exactly apologetically. Full disclosure that the driver called at *7:30am* to see if he could deliver earlier than the noon delivery I expected. They once again engraved his name on it without my input, but at least they chose a better font.-They gave me no guidance on transferring my cats cremains from one urn to another. The cremains were well and truly stuck in the old one, and I didn't to have a way to transfer without his ashes spilling everywhere. I wrote an email to PP expressing my dismay, and it turns out the driver was supposed to handle this task for me. He definitely did not offer to do this, he handed me the new urn and bounced. Thank goodness PP was so kind, they came over to my home and took care of this task for me.My cat needed to be euthanized pretty suddenly and this is the first pet I've ever had to put down, so I made the choices I made for ease of getting everything taken care of in my grief fog. If PP is still using this location when we need this service for our other cat, I will definitely take care of my own aftercare arrangements.*I originally had this under the Boonsboro location, but I received clarification that I received services through the Hedgesville location, so I have updated my review to reflect that.*

One of my dogs died two years ago, and my vet used Valley pet for the cremation. I was given his ashes back in the beautiful mahogany box with his name plate on it. Sadly, to say, I lost my other dog about two months ago and Agape did the cremation by the same vet. . This time my doggies ashes were returned in a very small like pine wood box that I thought was terrible looking. I am so disappointed from how it was two years ago until how it is now . Very upset and disappointed.

My vet uses this place. I have had two dogs cremated and returned to us through Valley Pet. I have had excellent results both times. The wood box was higher quality than a coworker of mine received her father's remains in from a different human crematory company. Thank you Valley Pet for making a hard time easier and treating my dogs with as much respect as you can in that scenario.

We had to say goodbye to our beloved Bichon after 16 years and decided private cremation through our local Vet. I picked up the ashes today and am overwhelmed with the care of her remains. We received a beautiful wood box with her name engraved which was packed with wrap along with a sympathy card and placed in a burlap bag. I highly recommend Valley Pet for the quality and respectful services!

My dog Rocky passes away Mother’s Day 2021. Inwas able to arrange for merge emergency offThe staff was so caring and walked me thru the process. Everyone was so professional. I received what I needed for myFur any. He is in an Urn w his name and has a paw print frame as well. Did not think I would be back almost a year later as my sweet bunny just passed. I will be using them again. Thank you Valley Pet for making this easier to deal with ❤️

Our sweet angel passed away and we’ve used Valley Pet before. I was asked all of the options, except one very important one, her paw print! I was asked about a her name plate and engraving, the toys I took to be with her, her bed (to destroy) and nothing about her paw print. I would think this would be one of the first questions but now it’s too late, especially for what we paid! Just insensitive considering when I dropped her off, I don’t know what I’m suppose to remember as an almost 17 year old family member just passed away. The boxes used to be a cherry wood and the finish was extremely nice. They say oak but it doesn’t look like it. I just don’t think Valley Pet Crematory is who they once were. I feel like there should be a list or something for us mourning family members to be given, not just a receptionist’s own list and leaving extremely important items out!!!!

Very sad experience here. I was unfortunately out of town when my pet passed away the other weekend. My sister dropped him off for a cremation and a paw print. She confirmed the paw print 3 times with whoever took his information down. I work in a clinic, so I get some benefits. She had a card in hand ready to pay for his paw print and was told there was no charge for the day and to have me email if I had questions. I thought it was weird I didn’t get charged so I emailed. No response. My pet was returned today without paw prints. Upon calling, I was told a paw print was never requested and there definitely would have been a charge for it. Yeah, I know. That’s why she had money from me to pay, but she was told no charge. They even repeated back “and an ink print?”. I’m not sure where the miscommunication happened since I was on the phone and heard my sister ask 3 separate times. It was very, very important to me I got this print to frame for him. Especially since I wasn’t even with him in his last days. If you’re going to drop off yourself and your vet isn’t doing the order, make sure you get in writing that a paw print is being done. They obviously can’t make a print now that he’s cremated, but I would hate for this to happen to someone else. My sister has told me it was busy when she dropped off and was rushed out the door so I guess that was the issue. But still, these are people’s pets. Hopefully he was individually cremated for his urn.

We had to make the hardest decision to put our ferret Moses down. He was such a sweet soul and it ate us up to even think that we had to make this decision. My awesome vet handled the cremation arrangements and I just got my baby Moses back today and his urn is beautiful!! I didn’t even think he would come back in an urn and was looking for my own to put him in. His name is even on the front engraved in gold and I am in love and so happy to have him back home with me. Thank you so much for this beautiful work!!

They are extremely thoughtful. We had to make the hard decision to let go of our furbaby doggie and the animal hospital sent her to Valley Pet services (who we didn't have any previous transactions with) and we picked her back up today and were very surprised to find she was placed in a nice wooden box already. Furthermore, they took the time and care to do a clay mold of her paw print, which I had so regretted not doing. So they are amazing and I'm forever grateful for their empathy!

This month I sadly had to put my cat down, and the ER vet we were at - VRA - provided different cremation services via Valley Pet. I was pleasantly surprised when my cat's ashes and paw print were delivered to my home in half the time estimated (only one week instead of the projected two). The box of ashes and silver clay pay print are true keepsakes, and having this service - especially so punctual and professional - brought me great closure at this difficult time.

Melissa was very helpful and quick to reply to my emails. I was very happy with Melissa's suggestion to get a keepsake keychain/pendant from Amazon so I could fill it with a small remainder of my dog's ashes. I am very pleased with the onyx urn that I picked. I also didn't realize how much the impression of her paw would mean to me. I'm so glad that I have that as well. Though it was a difficult time, Melissa made the experience easier.

So I recently lost my best friend, he passed away on the 01/29/21. Hertz was my entire world, he knew how to make me happy when I was feeling low. 5 wonderful years with my boy. As much as I would love having my 150lb dane laying on top of me right now. I really do appreciate everything you guys did for him. His paw print to his urn engraved with his name. Its absolutely beautiful and I cried so hard when I got my baby back. Thank you so much for making sure my baby stays with me forever.

Valley Pet Crematory worked with Veterinary Referral Associates to transfer, privately cremate (with certification), and return my beloved Tobey to me in a beautiful cherry urn with a brass engraved name plate in about a week.At the time I made the decision I wasn't thinking about the urn or anything really so it was a nice surprise to have him returned in such a beautiful urn. After a while I was thinking about switching him to another urn. I emailed Valley Pet Crematory and promptly received a response. These are decisions that I do not wish upon anyone but if I have to do it again I will use and recommend Valley Pet Crematory.

I opened a package earlier today that had just come in. It was in a small nondescript bubble envelope. I open it and started to cry. The final thing the veterinary place did before our dog was cremated was they made sure a paw print was done. This was not part of a package. Or maybe it was when you pay the fee. Either way, it touched me so much and that they personalized it with a name and a heart. This meant the world. So, Thank you to VETERINARY REFERRAL ASSOCIATES Off Perry Parkway in Gaithersburg for taking KD at a moment's notice. We would also like to thank the private Cremation place they work with called VALLEY PET who made the Paw Print and made sure she has a brass nameplate for her box. As hard as it is to lose a pet. These 2 organizations have made life so much easier and have allowed us to remember her properly. Thank you to both of you!

Amazing. Worked with Valley Pet through a local vet. I ordered an ink paw print, clay paw print, and the plain bamboo urn. I'm getting a different, more customized urn through Etsy, but honestly the bamboo urn is great. It's sturdy and simplistic.Highly recommend this business.

Paid for paw impression and they mailed them to the veterinarian facility which is where my dog died while in the Vet's care. There is no rhyme or reason for the impressions to have been mailed to the vet facility, I paid for the service and gave my mailing address. Trying to get in touch with someone at Valley Pet was challenging since they have odd hours and is closed on the weekends.

My family truly appreciates your service for the passing of our pit bull Zeus...We highly recommend this company as well as there great customer service during this difficult time. We picked up his cremations a week later and it was such a huge relief to have his spirit back... Cancer/Lymposarcoma sucks!!! we will continue to always love him and share the precious moments that we had with him😘

My baby Sanna, a long haired chihuahua, passed away on 12/14/2013. It was very unexpected and the animal hospital that had serviced us was great. The hospital took care of the cremation services, which utilized Valley Pet Cemetary, and we did not have to worry about anything afterwards. We received the box, with Sanna’s remains, that was made of this sealed wooden box. It was wrapped in a velvet green bag, and held a certificate and very sincere card form the staff. There was a gold name plate included in the package, which was incorrectly spelled the first time but was very quickly and promptly corrected when we reached out to the office.I appreciated so much what this service offers, as far as taking care of the responsibilities that are involved in when a pat passed away, and if I had a choice I would use Valley Pet Cemetary and Crematory again.

I have used Valley Pet for all of my animals since 1996/1997 and had the need for their services again just a week ago. Very nice & courteous staff and very empathic also. Can't say enough good things about them.Highly Recommended.💙

At a time when I was absolutely devastatedI could not have asked for kinder, more understanding people, the men & the women, the manager & the crematory workers, kept reassuring us that they knew Leonardo was family.

We recently lost our dog of 13 years. We are heartbroken. Valley Pet returned our friend in a beautiful box with his name, and my son and husband loved their paw necklaces. Thank you for the beautiful condolence card and caring for our sweet Kale.
