Yesterday we received the ashes of our beloved Diesel, and I am deeply grateful to Brittany and Bryan of Nansemond Pet Cremations Services for their exceptional service. During our first conversation after Diesel passed away, they showed understanding and kindness, guaranteeing that the cremation process would be carried out with the utmost care and dignity. Diesel lived a remarkable life of 14 years, having been by my side since he was three months old. The urn and paw print we have chosen will forever serve as a reminder of him. I strongly suggest that anyone who has experienced the loss of a pet consider contacting Nansemond Pet Cremations Services for their guidance and assistance. #dieselthefrenchbulldog

I am taken back by some of these reviews because I was quite thankful for being able to experience first hand the superior level of customer service Bryan & his team provide. I’m thinking when sadness strikes (esp from a loss), people must not always have clear thoughts, or maybe get frustrated easily. I’m not sure. However, take my word for it— Bryan & The Nansemond Pet Cremation Services team treated my husband and I so well during such a sad & emotional time.We found out our dog had passed unexpectedly when we had gotten home one evening. It was important to us that our child didn’t see our lab like that in the morning. Bryan didn’t hesitate to help us right away. The call was answered after about 2 rings. He helped get our girl where she needed to be and later had some beautiful keepsakes to share with our daughter. He made the process easy, wasn’t pushy, and respected our feelings the entire time. We couldn’t have gotten through this without Bryan & the team. Thank you once again. We hope it’s not anytime soon, but will definitely call you for any needs in the future.

Bryan took great care of our two dogs and one guinea pig when they passed over rainbow bridge. He met us at the vet and helped us grieve. It is comforting to know that the ashes we received are the actual ashes of our beloved pets. The containers with the engraved plaques have a place of honor in our home. Thank you!

Saying goodbye to our 16 year old beagle, Lucy, was incredibly difficult, but the staff at Nansemond Pet Cremation Services was compassionate, patient, and very understanding of what our family was going through. From the moment I reached out, they were kind and willing to explain the process and what to expect. Thank you for helping us honor our Lucy girl in such a respectful and dignified way.

Sometimes it’s the people that make all the difference! I can’t say enough great things about my experience with Mr. Bryan Johnson at Nansemond Pet Cremation Services. He truly seemed like such a nice guy (super compassionate and very helpful). He took a really difficult time for my kids and I and made it a little more bearable. Thank you!

I called asking if they take care credit. I was told no, at which point I asked if they knew of any locations that do. I was told care credit doesn't allow cremation services, which I knew was inaccurate. I did find a place that accepts care credit for my sweet cat. This company should be sure that all their staff is well educated so they don't give out false info. We are moving soon, so burial is not an option, as this is my sons first pet. So imagine the pain he would have suffered had I took what this person said at face value.

We had our precious baby laid to rest on the very early morning hours of Christmas Eve..... I also have children who were upset and still had to make sure Christmas happened.... I was not always happy with the response received over the phone when trying to learn where my dog was, I was not always pleasant and apologize giving the season and pressure and I'm sure they were getting it from a lot of people, however, no system in place to inform people if their lost family member is there makes me question if I have my dogs remains at all..... But the box is beautiful and the letter to buy an urn was written lovely

This review is long over due. I have used Nansemond Crematorium over the last few yrs, for 3 of my pets so far. My 2 cats Cheech & Chong, & the recent passing of my beloved Bear Bear. Brian & his staff are so kind & understanding & very accommodating. I was recieved very well the other day with my service dog Teddy & Bear's sister Dottie to say our goodbyes. We have 2 more Cats Snoop & Leo & our 8 dogs ( Dottie, Cheddar, Sentra, Mitzu, Nissan, Chrysler, Ford & Jag. This will be the only place I will take my fur babies when their time comes. The Nansemond Crematorium staff are so compassionate & caring. May this place be Bless always Lord 🙏🥰

Wish I could give 10 stars. They were wonderful after I lost of my HEART dog Ranger. My mobility service dog, best friend, my rock and the Best dog in the WORLD. A 165lb Great Pyrenees mix. I adopted Ranger at 8 weeks, my best friend adopted his little brother Elvis. Two days ago Ranger went down in the rear and could not get up. He started going downhill fast and I knew it was time to let him go. After 5 hours on the phone trying to find a Veterinarian to come to my house to help end his suffering I finally found one, only to be told it would be ANOTHER 5 hours before he could come. So I went to spend what time I could with my big guy. When I got in the kitchen where he was I discovered his suffering had ended.. . My friend had used Nansemond Pet Cremation Services for several of her dogs and recommended them highly. Bryan and his staff arrived at 7 am the next morning as promised ( Bryan had offered to come Sunday night after he called in staff to help because of Ranger's weight. I was so physically and emotionally drained I suggested we wait until morning. Earlier today I got a call from Bryan saying Ranger was ready and if I was going to be home someone was coming to deliver my big guy...How could ANYONE ASK FOR BETTER SERVICE AND MORE COMPASSION. I hope I will not need Bryan's service any time soon, but when I do I certainly know who to call...THANK YOU BRYAN JOHNSON, and Nansemond Pet Cremation Services

Called twice/left messages over a 3 day period for cremation services and never got a return phone call. Found another Pet Crematory who answered on the first ring and were so kind. Everything happens for a reason I suppose. Our Guinea girls weren’t meant to be handled by this business.

Thank you so much for taking care of my sweet Bella. I received her ashes and paw print today. I love the Cherry Wood Box and her name being engraved on it. That just made it so much more special. The certificate was definitely an extra special touch. I feel like she’s home where she belongs again and I can’t appreciate you all enough! You are the best

Was recommended by a coworker that my boyfriend works with. After my dog passed, they took good care of him. Bryan Johnson was able to stay after hours for him to go over the final details and sign thr paperwork. He even called me this morning to let me know that his ashes were ready to be picked up. I picked my dog's ashes today, and I didn't expect everything to be placed so beautifully in a bag. Not only was my dog's ashes in a beautiful cherry box, they also had an envelope that contained the certificate of cremation and a letter of condolence. I would definitely recommend this place for pet parents to cremate their pets. They have done a terrific job. Thank you for making this difficult time a little easier!

Byran and his staff have gone above and beyond for such a hard time when we lost our beloved dog. We have had to use there serivces two times and im just thankful to have a place i trust with our fur babies when the time comes.To trust a place to take care of your beloved pet in the most respectful and caring way. We recently had to make the agonizing decision to euthanize our kitty that we have had in our family for over 13 years. . . We have never had to go through this before as a family, so the process has been uncharted territory, and difficult......however, the compassion and service that Bryan Johnson has extended to us in our time of need has been most greatly appreciated. I have seen God's hand in this, yes, even in the sadness of losing a cherished family pet. God even cares for when the tiniest sparrow falls from a tree...and Bryan's compassionate heart has demonstrated the love of God to our family, something for which we are very grateful.No one wants to say goodbye to their cherished family pet, but the level of service Bryan has shown to our family, has been above the call of duty.

Brian and his wonderful business was such a blessing! They were available when no one else in our time of need would answer their phone or return a message! I can't tell you how awesome they were on Sunday ..their days off ..to help us say goodbye to our beloved pet and make the transition as smooth as possible. 5 stars is simply not enough for the wonderful work they do here.

I cannot thank Nansemond Pet Cremation enough for the kind professional care they gave both Jasper and myself. Ryan came with a stretcher late on a Sunday night arriving within an hour of my call to care for my boy's remains. He could not have been kinder at a horrible time. Jasper was very large and having someone with the ability to handle this easily meant so much. Thank you again for everything.

I wish there was a 10 star rating!! My little baby Spike passed away yesterday’ and I was devastated. I called Nansemond Pet Cremation Services and Bryan Johnson was the best!! He met with me and my family after 8pm. He was so sweet and understanding! Spike lived for a long 18 years but my little 2lb Yorkie will be missed! Thanks Bryan for all of your help! I would recommend you to anyone who should need services such as this!

Very professional and very compassionate. I had to have my beautiful Sadie girl put to sleep on Monday. From the very first phone call I knew that I called the right place to take care of cremating her. They made me feel very comfortable. They picked her up from the vet on Tuesday and I had her ashes back by Wednesday.

Byran was so great when I unexpectedly needed his services on the 4th of July. I can't say enough about how professional, understanding and helpful he was. EDIT: Bryan is still amazing, he was at my home for the second time to help with another of my babies! I just can't explain how helpful he is.

I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who unfortunately has a pet pass away. They came to our house and picked up our 100lb Lab, they were very gentle and calming in a very emotional time. And then they hand delivered his ashes and paw print directly to our home. We really appreciate them thank them for great service.

I am so impressed with Brian and the care and compassion that was shown during such an incredibly hard time for our family. He stayed open late, and even hand delivered the urn to us at our home.
