My partner and I highly recommend Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home & Crematory. This was our first time experiencing the loss of a pet, and we are so glad we entrusted them with our hamster.Our fur baby passed the day before a holiday. Even though it was after business hours, we were able to get into contact with a staff member to inquire about making an appointment with them (turns out we didn’t need an appointment). They were very accommodating, and we were able to drop him off two days later, after the holiday, and to start the process.Their staff members are compassionate, professional, and patient. Marjene and Christopher are wonderful; they made the entire process run smoothly.They had a lovely selection of urns, keychains, and jewelry for your pet’s ashes. We got ink and clay paw prints done, as well as some fur clippings as keepsakes. With the clay paw prints, you get to select the color of the bow and heart. Everything turned out perfect.We are very pleased with our experience with Oakey’s, and will definitely take our future pets to them.

Oakey's staff is compassionate, sympathetic, thoughtful and trustworthy. Our family was and still is devastated with the passing of our beloved Kane March 2024. Thank you Oakey’s for not calling to confirm the cremation of my dog before doing it when he had already been there for a week. I called twice to make a special request and both times I was told someone would call me before starting the cremation process. Obviously this did not happen. Do your job correctly when it comes to handling death. Nothing can compensate for the pure anger that we are feeling right now. Unbelievably disappointed with this facility that has been so great to us with previous pet losses.

My husband and I used Oakey’s Pet Funeral Home for the cremation of our first cockatiel Elliot. They collected his feathers and foot prints for us and also had a lot of other sweet sentimental keepsake options available. The staff were kind and compassionate and we would recommend them and will also choose them for the future cremation of our beloved pets.

Christopher was absolutely wonderful. As soon we arrived and entered the building he was set and ready to serve us. He methodically went over everything in detail, and was extremely patient and kind during this difficult moment to cremate our little poppie. We also got to laugh in between his assistance. While I was looking around for an urn, they kindly told me to take my time until I was ready with the urn to come and get out little guy's ashes back. I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing service, and assistance in cremating your little fellow(s). Such an amazing place this is. My husband and I are very thankful to have found this place. Losing a pet is never easy, and burials can't always happen, especially if you rent or know you'll have to move. From the moment I called to ask about their services, I was treated with respect, kindness and empathy, along with questions about our baby that had passed. I am so grateful Oakey’s was here to take care of my critter after she passed. This was an extremely difficult time for me and their service helped ease the anxiety. I never spoke directly to them because my vet’s office takes care of the transfer but Kristiana made a wonderful memorial package for me. I recently had to put my childhood cat down and had him cremated. I wanted a fancier urn for him, something better to remember him with, and Oakey's had such a nice selection within a very reasonable price range. I was able to find a cute urn that looked quite similar to my cat, I am very happy with it. They were fast to reply to my email, ordered the urn quickly and reached out promptly when it arrived. They transferred the ashes free of charge. They handled my cat's cremains with respect and dignity, and they were very kind and professional for the duration of our communication. Their business is pleasant to visit too - they cat some cats chilling in the office, and I was able to pet them and relax with them on the couch while they prepared my urn. I would highly recommend them, if I have to go through losing another pet while I live around Roanoke, I will definitely be contacting Oakey's for their services again.

I went in there today after my cat who was just a year old passed away. Todays experience made me feel more confident in my decision to cremate. They were so sweet and empathetic. They explained everything to me and made sure to let me know my cat would be taken good care of. They let me stay an extra hour, almost 2 hours just to say goodbye to my cat, without any pressure to hurry up. I wasn’t pressured to buy anything extra or to make my decisions quickly. They made this process completely stress free and pressure free for me and I HIGHLY recommend them to who is dealing with losing a pet. <3

Lovely people here at Oakey's Pet Funeral Home and Crematory. In October 2022 my dear Mew Mew passed away at 16 years of age and here in May my other cat La La Baby died at 11 years. The kind compassionate people here did a great job. In 2015 my Pomeranian Miss P died and that was when I first found out about them. I highly recommend them to anyone who has lost a beloved pet. A few months ago, I lost my best friend in life - my German Shepherd Zeppelin. I was blessed to have this TRUE love in my life for 12 years and I was just as blessed and cared for when I brought her to Oakeys after she passed. What was the most catastrophic time in my life was made painless and more positive by the staff and their compassion. I won't go into financials because this is a service I believe to be priceless. There are a wealth of options and services - zero issue there. What I find most important was that I did not feel like a number and what that can mean to someone in that vulnerable state is life-changing. When I look at reminders of Zeppelin or think back on that pain and those memories, I cannot help but to remember and be thankful for the way I was treated during that time also. Oakeys has always treated their clients with respect, but I do believe the warmth and personal investment that is unmatched at this location is a direct result of the manager, Marjene Schrader. My experience would not be as meaningful without her assistance and help with unimaginable grief. She knew how much I wanted to have Zeppelin's nose print forever...and made it happen and it's my favorite thing to smile at every day. Letting this team bring you that closure will never be a mistake.

While my family was in town visiting, their senior dog passed away unexpectedly in his sleep. At a loss as I have not had to deal with this type of situation since moving to the area, I called Oakey's asking to get information and the staff were so kind, and were able to explain their process over the phone in a calm and compassionate manner. When we arrived at their location, they were so gracious in working with us on the paperwork and were able to work with my family who were on a travel timeline. I highly recommend them for anyone dealing with the loss of a pet.

They were very compassionate when I called to get additional information about their services. My husband and I unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our sweet fur baby and they were able to answer all of our questions. When I did arrive at their facility they were very respectful and comforting during the entire process. I found peace in saying goodbye in part to how they treated our family and the care they took with my fur baby. They paid close attention to details and also gave us information about processing grief which I found very informative and helpful. Oakey's is amazing. They picked our sweet dog up from the vet and returned his ashes there too. They made an impossibly hard situation easier. When we got our Luke's remains back they included an incredibly sweet paw print with his name on it and a folder full of other kind mementos. We are so grateful to have these items. We picked up our Silkie house chicken's ashes today.From the minute you walk in the door you feel a sense of compassion here.Seeing the cat in the office waiting room is so very comforting....they also have a memorial photo viewer playing that lets you know that you are definitely not alone mourning the loss of your beloved family member.Very compassionate people working here to help make the loss of your pet as comforting as possible.The urn we picked out was bamboo & our pets name was beautifully burnished into the wood along with a foot print & some feathers.It doesn't matter the size or kind of pet you have, they are all treated with respect & returned to you knowing how much you loved them!💕Until we meet again... 💔

Very compassionate and caring people at Oakey's pet funeral home. We recently had our boxer/lab cremated and they made our experience a little easier to deal with considering the circumstances.

The staff is Great! They have helped us with our little boy Quincey in 2013 our little girl Pebbles 2016 and our Precious Emily in December. We can't Thank Them enough.

We had to take two of our furries in the last 6 to 8 months they are very good and very caring do a good job we now have to take a third one or Milo crossed over the rainbow bridge overnight taking him today they do a great job respect and carefully do what needs to be done

They handled everything so well through my Vets office that when we went with a home pet vet we made sure they used Oakey's. Have nothing but great things to say about the staff and facilities.

The absolute disrespect I experienced from the manager was unbelievable! Marlene? I believe, I expected a pleasant experience here but did not get one, I only came here for my sweet Meg because friends and family recommended! But I will not be returning until there is different management!
