My dog’s remains have been with them for six weeks. We did an at home euthanasia January 1st and were told it would be about two weeks. For a couple weeks Cherish Pet tracking stated she was in the cremation process. Fast forward till now, it says she’s still not en route to the vet. At this point we fear and worry her remains have been lost. I’ve attempted to reach out to Cherish Pet and have not heard back. If you have the option to take your fur baby elsewhere please do.

Michelle was so kind, sweet, sincere, patient, and helpful in dealing with me and all my questions considering this was the first time ever going through this. Jim was the same way when he came and picked my Gizmo up. So sincere in offering condolences and gentle handling my boy. I knew I left my baby in the right hands. Because I knew when I was having to put my baby down, I called ahead and set everything up and it made for a quick turn around process. I had my little prince back home with me where he belonged in what seemed like no time. Would definitely recommend them and I’ll absolutely use them AGAIN (just hopefully no time soon). I have used Cherish Pet Cremation Services twice. From start to finish they made the process super easy and I've had a wonderful experience with them both times. They are compassionate, someone always answers when I've called. They're easy to work with, understanding and affordable. I highly recommend their service 😀

Everyone was kind and compassionate especially Stewart. My Elsa Louise was ready to come home earlier than expected. From start to finish this was a wonderful place to send our daughter’s 8 year old ferret when he passed away. The staff was friendly and didn’t make us feel uncomfortable at all, the finished box and paw prints were very nicely done and packaged tastefully with a personalized name clip and ornament. I would definitely recommend them and use them for any future needs!!

Cherish has cremated 4 of my babies and for each instance they made me feel like i was the only customer and my babies were priority. Michelle is so compassionate…truly an angel. She made sure 2 people came to get both of my English Mastiffs (150lbs and 220lbs) on the day they passed together.The beautiful wooden urns with my babies were returned within days. I love the extra touches of love that were small but meant everything to me, such as the sweet flower on the bag and their names on a heart clipped to the bag. The paw prints are beautiful. I appreciate them so much.

Our dog lived to be over 17 years old. She was so much part of our family and is missed greatly. She passed away at home and we took her to Cherish Pet Cremation Service. I am so grateful for the owner of this company Shirley!! She was so kind and compassionate!! My son lost his 2 guinea pigs and I know they were handled with care and dignity. On the unexpected death of my cat, I was further distraught trying to find a reasonably priced place to cremate him. The first two places were over $250-$300 for the basics. One of those places not only would charge a fee for pickup, which is standard to the industry, but also $49 to drop off the deceased animal. A third was more reasonable but still more expensive than Cherish Pet Cremation Services. After those calls, finding Cherish Pet Cremation Services was a relief. I placed the call to the main number, left my information with the receptionist, and had Mr. Chesson calling me back within minutes. He was courtesy, considerate, and consoling of my loss. It is evident that he cares about providing this service for pet owners, and he does so without taking advantage of their loss and charging an outrageous price. His prices were straight forward and reasonable. A simple yet nice carved wooden box is included in the price of cremation, and the add ons, like a paw-print impressionor nameplate were reasonably prices. In total, I paid just under $180 for the cremation, an engraved nameplate for the box, and a paw-print impression. They even cut a bit a fur for me and put it in a nice small bag at my father's last-minute request since he knew I always enjoyed petting my cat's silky fur. When we received the remains, it was carefully given to us in a black paper "gift bag" that was decorated with a gold bow. A copy of the Rainbow Bridge poem was also attached to the bag by a cute little clothes pin with a black heart that they wrote my cat's name on. There was also a certificate of cremation and a condolence card. My only regret through this process is that I didn't get to meet Mr. Chesson myself as my father handled the delivery and pickup of my cat's remains, but I do know that when my senior dog passes, I won't need to call around, but will contact Cherish Pet Cremation Service and Mr. Chesson first thing. Thank you for providing Patches such a beautiful end to his bodily journey.

I highly recommend Cherish Pet Cremation Services, from the phone call to the pick up process, they make you and the process as comfortable as possible. I have entrusted them with 2 of my fur babies, and I know they took well care of them both. Michelle went out of her way to find my beloved girls blanket for me. Now that they've been bought out the company has changed. More expensive now. Used to all was included in the price, both pick up and delivery. Now you have to pay extra. I explained what should be on the plate on the urn multiple times to multiple people and they still got it incorrect. They had to reorder, which upset me. I won't use again. They don't have the compassion anymore.

They were so compassionate and understanding when our vet was running late and the driver had to wait for an extra hour. So kind. So empathetic. I cannot thank Cherish enough. My Chow had two puppies. One of them had some difficulties, and, at about twelve days, he passed while testing on my chest. I was crushed. One of their staff, Michelle, returned my call that night, and we talked about our dogs and getting the puppy to them, and everything.When she came to collect him the next day, she had with her a tiny vial, to put clippings of his fur into. That gesture of utter kindness was more appreciated than anyone could know. His ashes were returned, and the vial fit perfectly into his little tin.Lots of people don't "get" how we feel about our pets. From giant Irish Wolfhounds down to tiny sugar gliders, they are loved members of their families. When their lives are done, their humans need someone with that sort of empathy and compassion to start the healing process. Michelle is exactly the right person in exactly the right place. Thank-you, Cherish, for having such awesome people on your staff.

Michelle and Stuart were extremely nice to me, immediately all of them said “i’m sorry for your lost”, for a first time lost pet that was the kindest thing to hear. Dave came and picked her up he was really nice and gentle with her and i appreciated that. When i went to pick her ashes up, Stuart kept making me laugh as i cried which made it even funnier 😂. Overall if i lost a pet again I would call them for their services.

Our family recently lost our beloved dog Jewelz after 13 1/2 wonderful years. Wife, daughter, and I took it pretty hard that day. She left us on an early Sunday morning, so we had to find some sort of arrangements for her. I found these folks online, and all the great reviews were spot on. Shirley was absolutely wonderful and so compassionate and caring about our situation. They were able to send a gentleman (Jim I believe) all the way out to southern Chesapeake on a Sunday afternoon to retrieve her for us. I have complete faith Jewelz was handled with dignity and respect all the way until her cremated remains were returned home to us again. We are so glad we chose these folks.

Now that I’m all cried out, let me tell you Stuart and Jim, hands down offer a VERY compassionate service. Stuart called me back and just showed so much sympathy for me and I was a complete stranger. Shirley was so kind and caring and the young man who picked up my baby and delivered him back to me this morning was such a warm caring person. I cannot say enough good things about these people. We lost our 10 year old German Shepherd Ellie and I couldn’t be happier with their service and response time. Our girl passed in the night and there was no way I’d be able to lift her to take her anywhere and they came within about an hour to help me. I strongly recommend avoiding this company. Losing a pet is a very difficult experience and Cherish Pet Cremation Services made this time an even more emotional experience than it should have been.To start, the physical location is still being renovated as the company was purchased from an older lady who was running operations from her home. It is not a welcoming space and the owners are not very caring. Be prepared to be greeted with a “can I help with you something?” in a tone that indicates you’re an inconvenience.I had a very simple request for my cat’s processing. I asked that he be put in to two tins as he was my sister and I’s cat. I was assured that this was possible and a common ask. This information was relayed during my intake form as well as during drop off. I was told he should be ready to come home in a few days. A week went by and I had to call for an update (which is a hurdle itself because calls are sent to a 24/7 line where the staff are highly undertrained). Eventually I’m told my cat is ready to come home. Upon pickup, my cat is in one tin. Picking him up to come home is already an emotional experience, and I was quite upset that my pet was not prepared as discussed. The owner showed me their forms and notes indicating that they failed to document my ask regarding the two tins, even though it was said multiple times. He offered to give me a second tin and I immediately became emotional and panicked over the idea of doing this myself. Not to mention I had paid $265 in total for these services.One of the owners and I continued to discuss this issue and my concerns, as I’m continually becoming more upset. The owner shared their story of purchasing the business from an elderly lady to ease her life and tried to guilt trip me for being upset because they were opening this business as an “act of kindness” for her.After many tears and a disheartening conversation, things were made right and the owner provided my cat to me in two tins. I also paid $25 each for two paw prints, items which my sister and I can never have made again. One of the paw prints does not resemble a paw in the slightest. Additionally, I paid $25 for an ink print of his paw. The ink print is of four toes, no paw pad. My sister and I were going to get his paw print tattooed but it looks like four black dots, not resembling a paw print at all.I can not recommend a company who employs very little sympathy and subpar customer service, especially within the industry of pet loss.

This place has had my dog for about 3 weeks going on a month now for a simple individual cremation. They have not returned any phone calls and the receptionist claims to “put a message through” which leads to no result. This is a very hard time for my family already and to have to bare the discouragement of not even receiving a phone call update in this long period is honestly draining. I do not recommend this place for anyone who mourns their dog as family. These weeks have felt like months and as I type this today, still no call back, and no ashes.**Update: Ironic that a few after posting my review the company decides to reach out with an excuse that could have been acceptable had it been communicated prior.

We recently lost our cat Luna very unexpectedly. I called around for a place that would help. All places wanted to charge me an extra fee just because it was Saturday I would be dropping our Luna off. Cherish pets cremation services doesn't and they were also very sympathetic and caring about our little girl. They delivered her to us after her cremation in a cute container and velour bag with embroidery, a certificate, a sympathy card and poem. They also got her paw print perfectly in clay. My daughter called them her toe beans. I will forever be greatful for the care they showed Luna and us. I have other pets and when their time comes I will be using them again.

My son’s dog died suddenly and unexpectedly in my backyard just days after the passing of a family member. The fact that he was in the backyard created a problem with having him picked up, and as much as I love my pets, I have a deep aversion to touching and moving dead things. Despite being involved with pet rescue, recommendations from that community were no help. I found Cherish Pet through a google search. Shirley was as kind as anyone could be. You won't find a better place that treats your loved animal like their own! When they were called, they were very professional and kind and most of all, understanding. They aren't a "money collector" or "just another business". In fact, I didn't hear anything about money until my dog was returned to me. They give you your time to grieve and provide a wonderful service. Bob was the one who returned my dog to me in a nice urn and he wanted to know what kind of dog he had the pleasure of returning to me. Shirley and Allison are both very helpful and understanding. Mary was a wonderful help too! I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone in the Hampton Roads area!

My Border Collie had to be put down back in June of 2015. I know it's been 4 years but it was so hard on me as we fought through 5 cancer surgeries over 14 years, she was my baby. 😥 Anthony met me at my veterinarian's office, stayed outside until the vet said he could come in our room, my vet left me alone to say goodbye before putting her to sleep and out of pain. After I said I was ready for him to take her he came in and gently placed her on a stretcher and Anthony and the vet carried her outside to his little van. Gently put her into the back let me kiss her goodbye and covered her with a blanket as to keep her warm, which actually makes you feel a little better. He explained the process and that he would deliver her ashes in a few days. I have a Cockapoo that was only 3 years old and thought of my border collie as her mother, so she was in distress missing her. When Anthony came with her ashes he e explained that if you let her smell the ashes they tend to understand a little more. It seemed to help some with our great loss. I would highly recommend Cherish Pet Cremation Services to everyone. I have used another Cremation service and was very upset with the ashes received, they looked as if they took a fire log was burnt and put I to a baggie. Can’t say enough good about this company. My cat died during the night and I called Cherish at 9am. Kim was splendidly professional and at the same time compassionate and caring. She gave me an acceptable pick up time and true to her word Jim showed up at my front door looking very professional and ready to take care of business at the prescribed timeframe. We opted for cremation without having ashes returned. The cost was very reasonable, the service professional, the staff fun, friendly, and caring. I was emotionally raw and hurting the morning I called Cherish Pet Cremation, and they answered my grief with prompt service. They came to the house almost immediately to pick up my Luvie, saving me the miserable and dreaded task of having to drive and deliver her myself. I was given a wide choice of containers for her ashes. (The one I chose was offered at their cost.) Then they returned her to our home ahead of the promised time. My beautiful Spaniel BB passed away on 8/9/21 after a long 14 years and I’m so glad that we found them.I’ve never had a pet cremated before and this death hit me really hard and I really appreciate how empathetic they were from the initial call to picking her up.I can’t remember the guy’s name who picked her up and dropped her off, but he was very gentle in picking her up and I couldn’t bear to watch him put her in the car but my sister said that it was very peaceful. I cannot thank Cherish enough. My Chow had two puppies. One of them had some difficulties, and, at about twelve days, he passed while testing on my chest. I was crushed. One of their staff, Michelle, returned my call that night, and we talked about our dogs and getting the puppy to them, and everything.When she came to collect him the next day, she had with her a tiny vial, to put clippings of his fur into. That gesture of utter kindness was more appreciated than anyone could know. His ashes were returned, and the vial fit perfectly into his little tin.Lots of people don't "get" how we feel about our pets. From giant Irish Wolfhounds down to tiny sugar gliders, they are loved members of their families. When their lives are done, their humans need someone with that sort of empathy and compassion to start the healing process. Michelle is exactly the right person in exactly the right place. Michelle and Stuart were extremely nice to me, immediately all of them said “i’m sorry for your lost”, for a first time lost pet that was the kindest thing to hear. Our family recently lost our beloved dog Jewelz after 13 1/2 wonderful years. Wife, daughter, and I took it pretty hard that day. She left us on an early Sunday morning, so we had to find some sort of arrangements for her. I found these folks online, and all the great reviews were spot on. Shirley was absolutely wonderful and so compassionate and caring about our situation. They were able to send a gentleman (Jim I believe) all the way out to southern Chesapeake on a Sunday afternoon to retrieve her for us. My girlfriend lost her emotional support kitty four weeks ago, and having used this service in the past with my own kitty I suggested we take Tick Tock here. They arrived just after the vet had helped Tick Tock pass over and where very careful with the body. The cremation service was very quickly done and remains returned to us within four days. Even the specially engraved urn we purchased later was finished far quicker than either of us expected and the engraving was exactly as my girlfriend wished. I lost my Missy Leanne my baby!!!! She passed on June 30 2021. 🥲🥲🥲. Her and I travel with my job and went everywhere since I had her. Missy would of been 9 come October 4. I got her at 4 months old. I strongly recommend avoiding this company. Losing a pet is a very difficult experience and Cherish Pet Cremation Services made this time an even more emotional experience than it should have been.To start, the physical location is still being renovated as the company was purchased from an older lady who was running operations from her home. It is not a welcoming space and the owners are not very caring. Be prepared to be greeted with a “can I help with you something?” in a tone that indicates you’re an inconvenience.I had a very simple request for my cat’s processing. I asked that he be put in to two tins as he was my sister and I’s cat. I was assured that this was possible and a common ask. This information was relayed during my intake form as well as during drop off. I was told he should be ready to come home in a few days. A week went by and I had to call for an update (which is a hurdle itself because calls are sent to a 24/7 line where the staff are highly undertrained). Eventually I’m told my cat is ready to come home. Upon pickup, my cat is in one tin. Picking him up to come home is already an emotional experience, and I was quite upset that my pet was not prepared as discussed. The owner showed me their forms and notes indicating that they failed to document my ask regarding the two tins, even though it was said multiple times. He offered to give me a second tin and I immediately became emotional and panicked over the idea of doing this myself. Not to mention I had paid $265 in total for these services.One of the owners and I continued to discuss this issue and my concerns, as I’m continually becoming more upset. The owner shared their story of purchasing the business from an elderly lady to ease her life and tried to guilt trip me for being upset because they were opening this business as an “act of kindness” for her.After many tears and a disheartening conversation, things were made right and the owner provided my cat to me in two tins. I also paid $25 each for two paw prints, items which my sister and I can never have made again. One of the paw prints does not resemble a paw in the slightest. Additionally, I paid $25 for an ink print of his paw. The ink print is of four toes, no paw pad. My sister and I were going to get his paw print tattooed but it looks like four black dots, not resembling a paw print at all.I can not recommend a company who employs very little sympathy and subpar customer service, especially within the industry of pet loss.

This place has had my dog for about 3 weeks going on a month now for a simple individual cremation. They have not returned any phone calls and the receptionist claims to “put a message through” which leads to no result. This is a very hard time for my family already and to have to bare the discouragement of not even receiving a phone call update in this long period is honestly draining. I do not recommend this place for anyone who mourns their dog as family. These weeks have felt like months and as I type this today, still no call back, and no ashes.**Update: Ironic that a few after posting my review the company decides to reach out with an excuse that could have been acceptable had it been communicated prior.

This crematory was perfect. We never had an animal that had to be put down but our family cat bob of 17 years had stage two kidney disease and a longer list of other factors that led to his death very early thursday morning. They came and picked him up immediately and offered a level of dedication and respect to our cat that I was very happy with. They even returned a paw print in Clay and nose prints. Besides that the people you deal with here are very good harted people. Everyone should at least have their number saved for that unfortunate event. If you want the best service at a fair price use them just hope that you won't have to anytime soon.

We recently lost our cat Luna very unexpectedly. I called around for a place that would help. All places wanted to charge me an extra fee just because it was Saturday I would be dropping our Luna off. Cherish pets cremation services doesn't and they were also very sympathetic and caring about our little girl. They delivered her to us after her cremation in a cute container and velour bag with embroidery, a certificate, a sympathy card and poem. They also got her paw print perfectly in clay. My daughter called them her toe beans. I will forever be greatful for the care they showed Luna and us. I have other pets and when their time comes I will be using them again.

My son’s dog died suddenly and unexpectedly in my backyard just days after the passing of a family member. The fact that he was in the backyard created a problem with having him picked up, and as much as I love my pets, I have a deep aversion to touching and moving dead things. They aren't a "money collector" or "just another business". In fact, I didn't hear anything about money until my dog was returned to me. Worst service ever received they do not cremate the animals on site. Does not have a valid business license with the city of Chesapeake. Stay away from these awful people. 100% didn’t get my dogs ashes but a bag of sand.

Cherish Pet was very responsive when I called , the entire process of free pickup and Delivery was professional and caring. They made it very easy to do business with them during a very emotional time. They truly cared and the end result brought comfort to our entire family.I highly recommend their services to everyone.

I lost my beloved kitty after a beautiful 16 years together. I could not imagine a better place to take her for her last ride. This place is back on a private road surrounded by horses and the woods. It's gorgeous! All of the people there were absolutely lovely and made a terrible time a little bit easier.

Last night my sweet Oreo crossed over. I was very nervous about cremations and how my baby would be handled before me and after he left. The two ladies arrived and were compassionate and treated my baby with the most respect. Thank you from my heart, I was sure based off my brief encounter that my baby was in goods hands and would be treated with respect and dignity.

I lost my bunny unexpectedly on July 4th. July 5th I inquired about cremation services and was met with so much sympathy and understanding. The next day I was able to drop off and pick up 2 days later. Their customer service and prices are unmatched. It is obvious they have a passion for what they do.

My girlfriend lost her emotional support kitty four weeks ago, and having used this service in the past with my own kitty I suggested we take Tick Tock here. They arrived just after the vet had helped Tick Tock pass over and where very careful with the body. The cremation service was very quickly done and remains returned to us within four days. Even the specially engraved urn we purchased later was finished far quicker than either of us expected and the engraving was exactly as my girlfriend wished. While this is not a service that anyone wants to think of needing, we are both so very grateful that these wonderful people are there to help with such a difficult time.

I lost my Missy Leanne my baby!!!! She passed on June 30 2021. 🥲🥲🥲. Her and I travel with my job and went everywhere since I had her. Missy would of been 9 come October 4. I got her at 4 months old. Anyway Cherish came and picked her up and cremated her for me. They are great people that works there and the poem a long with the note was very cordial. I especially like having the cast of Missy’s footprint along with her name Missy Leanne. I have to say I have it laying on my dining room table and every time I walk by it I rub it like rubber for head🥲🥲I highly recommend cherish cremation.James McCellan

Shirley, thank you so much for taking care of my Hammy.To those of you looking to compare prices and quality of service, you can stop now. After another company told me to "just put him in the freezer until morning", I couldn't have asked for a more understanding and helpful person when Hamilton passed. I dropped him off at Bay Beach on VB blvd and my husband called Cherish to set up a pickup. Shirley offered half the price of the other company, and she even dropped him off with us.

This crematory was perfect. We never had an animal that had to be put down but our family cat bob of 17 years had stage two kidney disease and a longer list of other factors that led to his death very early thursday morning. They came and picked him up immediately and offered a level of dedication and respect to our cat that I was very happy with. They even returned a paw print in Clay and nose prints. Besides that the people you deal with here are very good harted people. Everyone should at least have their number saved for that unfortunate event. If you want the best service at a fair price use them just hope that you won't have to anytime soon.

This is the best service I have ever used. When your world is falling apart, they are there to help you. They are the most respectful professional group. My extended family has unfortunately needed them 4 times in the last two years. They even came and picked up my baby because I was too much of a wreck.

She was very sympathetic and kind at the loss of my 17 ur old shih-tzu Miya. Wasn't focused on getting the money up front and was willing to work with us if needed and more caring than anyone I ever met in this situation. It means a lot to me that she really cares about my baby and took the time to talk with us and not just rush things through.

I can say so much good about this company they were very understanding caring social and so loving under the circumstances... We recently lost our bunny bun bun after 13 years my son and I took it pretty hard but they did such a good job and checked with us and called when she was ready to come back home I would recommend this company to everyone
