They were very kind and thoughtful. When they were called to pick up my deceased husband, they arrived in business attire and asked if we would like to leave the room or stay as they prepared to move him. We stayed and they were very respectful of his body as they prepared him. I noticed, too, that they did not cover his face until they put him in the vehicle. I also realized that when I wrote the obituary, I forgot to put my own family's name in and called the next morning and they were happy to take care of it. Again, very caring when they brought his ashes to me. A great place to do business with,and our arrangements were made several years ago and they made sure that we didn't want to change things.

I called Tharp and spoke with Jared when my husband passed away in the hospital. He was so kind on the phone. Assured me they would take good care of Bill (my husband). The next day my daughters and I went to the Bedford location where we discussed the funeral arrangements. As my daughters said "Jared never showed anything but kindness and comfort to all our questions, etc." The day of the viewing Jared and Mike took such good care of us. Words do not do justice to the kindness we were shown. The next day we all traveled to Norfolk for the burial. Again, nothing but kindness. I cannot thank everyone at the Bedford location enough for helping through a horrible time. Thank you Thank you.Brenda Gard

When my Dad passed away I think we all were in shock. Tharp Funeral Home was there for us then, and now. My sister and I had never done anything like this before. They were gentle and kind and gave us as much time as we needed and assistance we needed. Dad had said he had everything taken care of at Tharp, and he did! Down to the details! I can't thank them enough for all that they've done for us!

My wife passed away on July 9,2024. We had made our arrangements years ago which was one of our best decision's.My wife suffered from bladder cancer, and she passed away at 8:06pm.The staff arrived in a very timely manner to transport her body,The staff was so very sympathetic to our loss and were so kind it eased the hurt.The ladies at the funeral home were very kind and did everything I asked them to do in a very compassionate manner.My wife's wishes were carried out in fine detail.The staff has reached out to me on a regular basis since her passing which shows me they care.At a time when you need someone who is caring, the staff went above and beyond to make the difficult time as painless as possibleI love all the people there and recommend their services to all.God bless them all!

I'm not sure I have the words to describe my gratitude for Tharp Funeral Home and its amazing staff.When my mom passed away a couple of weeks ago, I had no idea what to do. After making some inquiries with other funeral homes, my family and I felt that Tharp was the clear choice to make, and they didn't disappoint.Cameo has been our main contact person, and she is amazing! She, along with Bonnie and Jared, is so personable, knowledgeable, and Compassionate. They made a very difficult and stressful situation much easier in every way possible, Every detail, was laid out, step-by-step, explained clearly and patiently. And, when all pressing decisions had been made by us, they carried out our wishes without delay,The consideration and care we received from Tharp is second to none. We will continue to use Tharp's services for the family, as the need arises. However, I hope that the need doesn't come too soon.Thank you, Cameo, Jared, and Bonnie, for taking excellent care of Mom and the rest of us!

Jared and team were extremely generous, kind, patient, and knowledgeable. They left no questions unanswered and treated us as if they were completely at our disposal. If you are searching for a place that will be special, these great folks will not let you down. Everything went phenomenally well. They were by our sides helping along the way the entire time and did not ever hesitate to serve us. They really go the extra mile to place themselves in your shoes and let God work through them. They excel at every possible thing they offer and will do what they can to provide/help with the things outside their offerings. We could not have done it without these individuals and cannot thank them enough for being there for us in our time of most need. We will not forget.

The entire staff at the Bedford office especially Cherl and Nina were great, under the circumstances they made everything easier to get through. The ones that came out to the church and the cemetery were very caring and courteous and made everyone feel comfortable. Tharp is affordable and family oriented and Cheryl made us feel like what we were going thru with the death of my wife's father mattered and she just wasn't out for money but that she really cared which is different than another funeral home we checked with. We would definitely recommend Tharp to anyone and we will be back to pre-arrange our funeral.
