Customer Reviews Summary
Galaxy Hut is a beloved dive bar known for its extensive vegan menu, craft beer selection, and unique atmosphere. Customers appreciate the chill vibe, eclectic decor, and friendly staff, although some have noted issues with service and wait times. Overall, it is a popular spot for both vegans and non-vegans alike, offering a cozy place to enjoy comfort food and drinks.

I’ve gone here a couple of times. The best dive bar in the area with an extensive beer list and non alcoholic list. If it’s really crowded, there won’t be a good place to sit and then the line to get drinks can take a while. The atmosphere is super chill with lots of fun artwork (that’s for sale) on the walls. As many others mentioned, the tots are where it’s at!

Ordered at the bar, food was served within 15 to 20 min (estimated) despite large crowd. The Swedish Canadian had a complex and balanced flavor profile with savory notes, earthy richness, caraway which has one of those very distinctive flavors, as well as sourness and creaminess. Overall, from my perspective, just a great job. My husband got the Buffalo chik'n and, despite being an omnivore, enjoyed the flavor. The vibe was very nice as well, with eclectic art and dim light. It felt very ... personal? The price was $13 for a thoughtfully constructed sandwich. I have had much less flavor for more money.

Galaxy Hut is a vegan institution. They've been holding it down for us for decades. The owner is legit. The staff is top tier. The food is great. Are you a vegan? Go. That's it. Got a date with a vegan? This is the one. Hanging out with a group of friends and there's that one guy always complaining about no vegan options? Hidden gem for folks who love craft beer and vegan food. We discovered their sister restaurant, Space Bar, and fell in love, and then tried Galaxy Hut (here). They have the best vegan burgers! The Smokehut Burger was phenomenal for being vegan. 100% satisfied; a must try. Its not fancy, but it's comfortable and that's part of the vibe. We will be returning customers.

Very good bar/vegan food. Prices seem all over with place, with some items overpriced and some quite cheap. Example: burger for $16, but a generous plate of eggplant fries + dipping sauces for $3. In total, it was about $30 for a burger, fries and a beer for one person. Maybe I’m just not used to DC prices, but it felt expensive. Good vegan food, though, and fast, friendly service.Vegetarian options: Full menu is vegan

The atmosphere here is perfect for a dive bar. They have a unique, tasty, and well priced vegan/vegetarian menu. I love my meat, but their food is well worth it. I personally recommend having the vegan Reuben! Their beer selection is great too and the bar tender was hilarious! Will gladly continue coming back here!

The vibe is so cool and the fact that everything on the menu is vegetarian/vegan is amazing! Walking in, it really feels like you went back a time. Sit at any open table and look through the menu, once you know what to order head to the bar. Once your food is ready it will be brought to your table.I went with the jalapeño bomb impossible burger. For the table we split onion rings and buffalo cauliflower. Everything I tried was amazing! Jalapeño burger was bomb (no pun intended) and the onion rings were cooked well and buffalo cauliflower was definitely a hit. There were so many other food options to try that I hope to come again soon!

What a cool spot. The only downside is waiting for a table since it's a small place. Other than that, excellent service, surprisingly clean bathroom for a divey type bar, unbeatable vibe, good beer selection, and excellent vegan junk/comfort food. You come here for the Swedish Canadian (a meatball, mushroom gravy, and cheese on rye), poutine tots, and all varieties of delicious, warm, savory goodness between two slices of bread...not a salad. 😁

Quirky little dive bar with eclectic clientele. Nice beer list - unfortunately they served me the wrong one. Tots were good and the small basket was actually massive and plenty for at least two people.

I've eaten inside pre-pandemic but even their take out is phenomenal! They also have an incredible beer selection, both diverse and tasty. And I am so happy that the restaurant is fully vegetarian now. With burgers like Jalapeno Bomb and Frickin' Chicken you honestly won't miss the meat.

This bar/restaurant is amazing! The perfect place to get the best vegan junk food in Arlington! We got a patty melt with a beyond burger and the chili cheese dog both with tater tots. Both were truly delicious and full of flavor! Definitely the best late night food at any bar in the area I was very impressed and am sure to come back many times in the future. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a drink or snack late night!!

Man, I've only been here once, but everything about this place hits high points for me. Good tap list? Check. Tasty food? Check (mostly of the vegan variety and it's delicious as an omnivore). Good music? Check, post punk, thrash metal, triphop, etc. Good overall vibe? BIG check. It's dark, the art is fun, and the only TV is playing sci-fi classics on VHS. There are NO SPORTS, and that's the BEST. Here's a picture of some beer.

This is my favorite watering hole for having a couple pitchers of quality craft beer. They have some excellent house brands and a large rotating selection of taps. The staff is hard working but laid back and really are good cooks! The trick here is it is a vegetarian menu featuring one of the best burgers I have ever had. Indeed, I have tried much of the menu and everything was delicious. Don’t forget the copious orders of tots and sprouts. The setting is sort of eclectic but I like the quiet clientele and the nice private patio they have in the back.Vegetarian options: This is fully vegetarian menu. They can do vegan too. This helps justify my guzzling of beer!

Incredible vegan grilled cheeses, vegan reubens, vegan meatball subs, and more (tater tots!). Great beer too, and cozy dive-y atmosphere. Overall one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV.Vegetarian options: The whole menu is vegetarian, and most of it is vegan.

Galaxy hut is one of my favorite bars in Clarendon. It's definitely a dive bar and I love it! Happy hour special gets you a pitcher for cheap and tots for half price. It's a small place, so come early. I recommend bringing some cards or a board game. It's not officially a board game bar, but plenty of patrons bring their own entertainment. Service is always phenomenal. They have outdoor seating too in a closed off alley with a bunch of murals on the wall. Smoking is permitted there. Bathrooms are gender neutral and are graffitied with funny sayings. I mean all around, this bar has got it all!
Lisa Turner
Always nice to find a place that has a ton of vegan food vs just a few options. Only complaint is the service... They don’t seem to pay a lot of attention to the patrons. For example, last night I ate in (wasn’t super busy) and needed a box. I waited at the bar about 5 min before having to walk to the kitchen staff and ask for it. During that time, my food (basically a whole plate) got thrown out despite me still being there trying to get a box for it!

Came in with my friends to get some dinner. Our original destination was closed, but they've been dying to try this place. The place totally feels like they'd host concerts on the inside.Walked in and it gave total dive bar vibes. All walk up counter orders. I got this Impossible burger with avocado and jalapeños and such. It was very good. Only real complaint I have was the service, that day. I'm not sure if it was short staffed or something but all our food came in big time differences. First person's order came within 15 minutes. My order came 30 minutes later and then my friends order came 15 minutes later.I'd go back and I think I'd have a totally different experience.

2nd review. Come here all the time. No frills bar, but the food and beer is always great. Lots of thought goes into their vegan food. We LOVED the Thanksgiving quesadilla (turkey trucks) it was a great balance of creamy, veg, and meat. Sage, roasted brussel, seitan, and cheese. Hope this is back EVERY year! Really yummy.FYI no kids/ strollers/ under 21 allowed.Vegetarian options: Anything can be vegetarian or vegan.

I don’t even know where to start. The amount of disrespect me and my friends got from the manager was on another level. He was so racist and ignorant! The moment we walked in he asked us for our IDs (mind you we been there before never been ask for an ID)I showed him mine and one of my friend did too and by chance my other friend forgot her ID and she asked him if she can show him a picture of it instead. And we explained that we were just there for the food and that we won’t even order alcohol. He said no and told us to leave the restaurant even if we were served there before without our IDs. We placed an order for 3 burgers and tatter totes to go and when to our car to wait for the food. When we got back to our car my friend found her ID so we went back to show him her ID and asked if we can dine there. He was rude but said we could stay. After 15-20 the guy who worked in the kitchen came and brought 1 burger and the tatter totes. We thought he would be back with the other 2 burgers we ordered 20 mins past and nothing. I went back to ask him if he only charged us for just a burger instead of three, he went back to the kitchen and said the guy forgot to make the other two burgers (of course he would blame the other guy) and told me to wait. I said okay and asked for a sauce to eat the tatter totes while I wait. He brought the mayo and acted like he forgot the ketchup I asked for too. So I had to ask again and he basically threw the ketchup instead of handing it to my friend. At this point we all lost it and had to asked if he is rude too everyone like this when we got the other two burgers we ordered. However, the guy that worked in the kitchen didn’t want to say his input about his manager “Joe” not sure if that’s even his real name. He still wouldn’t leave us alone and he came to our table as if his racist attitude towards us was not enough to make us feel unwelcome. So we just asked for a Togo box and left cause we couldn’t handle any more disrespect that came out of his mouth. If you are black I advice you not to go!

Galaxy Hut is a unique and quirky gem! The intimate space and dim lighting give it an artsy and relaxed vibe. The craft beer selection is impressive, offering something for every palate. The menu is compact but packed with flavorful options, making vegetarian and vegan choices a highlight. Live music and events add to the cozy ambiance, making it a great spot to unwind. If you're looking for a laid-back hangout with character, Galaxy Hut is definitely worth a visit.

This place is an absolute gem and a blast from the past with the decor and general vibe. The staff are very chill and welcoming, and the menu options are great. We were ID'd at the door, which was expected and welcomed. You order your drinks and food at the bar so there's no table service, which gives it a little quirk you don't normally find.My husband and I both got grilled cheese (with avocado, bacon - & caramelized onions) and the portions were very generous; they were also absolutely delicious. It's busy and it's a little loud, but very well priced and tasty! If we lived in Arlington, we'd be back!

This place has expanded my mind on how good tater tots can be… Their tater tots are crispy and delicious, the best I’ve ever had. Nice quiet little bar with a good selection of beer, available pitchers, and tater tots. Sandwich style food is available, but I didn't try it this time. Generally a pleasant atmosphere. There is a deck for seating as well. The bathrooms are a bit small, but so is the bar. Still, a nice place to hangout, get a beer, and have a conversation.

A hidden gem among blocks of overpriced bars. Down to earth feel with a fantastic beer list, vegan burgers, and loaded tots. Get there early, order at the bar, grab your own water from the corner, and hope for an open table. Check out the website for live music events. Or just watch classic movies on VHS playing on the TV above the bar. Best bar in Clarendon!
Brittany K
Galaxy Hut was fantastic! They have a menu of vegan and vegetarian (they have dairy cheese options but everything can be made vegan) food options as well as a beer and wine list. I was amazed at how reasonable all of the prices were! The staff was really friendly and our food came out quickly. The tofu nugget KFC wings, the Things Wrap, and the quesadilla were delicious, and I can't wait to go back to try out more items.
Jeremy Chan
Quite possibly my favorite place in the universe. $2.50 tots, great beer selection on draft (and price). Attracts a great crowd, and they always have VHS movies playing in the background. Not another boring, derivative DC bar where people pay $12 for a can of seltzer that costs $1 at giant.
Michaela Elison
If you are looking for an intimate, neighborly quality vegan restaurant, this is your place! Perfect for introducing folks new to vegetarian and vegan cuisine. The burgers are a must, which look and taste like meat and their cashew cheese and sauces that come with the eggplant fries are out of this world. Give this place a spin!

Galaxy Hut is always a solid choice when you need great beer, tots (and totchos) - and of course fancy grilled cheese. My wife is vegetarian and there are more interesting options here for her than 90% of other restaurants it seems.

Patrick Flaherty
Not only is Galaxy Hut one of the best bars in NOVA but it is one of the best (If not THE BEST) vegan spots. There is always a great rotation of beers and the vegan sandwiches, platters, and tater tots are fantastic. Stop by for the vibe alone because it feels like you are transported to a simpler time when people actually talked to each other instead of glued to their phones. You must get the tots!

Awesome bar with delicious veggie eats. We got the frickin fried steak, the frickin parm, the totchos, and the KFC things and everything was delicious. The beer selection was great and the decor and old-school arcade games were very retro. Very cool place, will be back.
Carla P
Super cool atmosphere with old movies played from VHS tapes. A wide range of beers on tap from stouts to sours and even hard ciders. Thoroughly enjoyed the tater tots with mushroom gravy and vegan cashew curds that we ordered. Will definitely be returning

My favorite unique bar in the Clarendon area. Great beer list good variety of vegetarian and vegan food (I am a carnivore and like the sandwiches and totchos). They have had to shift to takeout only to protect their employees and their takeout website and process is great. They have very good protocols in place and have not rushed back to indoor dining.I can’t wait to have an old VCR movie on the one screen in the background while drinking good beers and splitting a loaded totcho with friends here.
Bryce Heyn
Exactly what I'm looking for in a dive bar. Funky decor, chill bartenders, and 90s movies playing on VHS in the background. The beer list is constantly changing and good times keep rolling. Shout out to Ben for being patient and on top of clearing tables 🤙Food: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Drunk vegans seem like a non sequiter but Galaxy Hut is a unique mixture of health food and pitchers of beer! They have a good selection of brews on tap and certain pitcher specials on their extended Happy Hour. Sorry I love pitchers and they are getting hard to find. The food, while limited to only-vegetarian, is quite good and welcoming. Seems like the Brussel sprouts and tatter tots are the go tos, but I hope they will expand their veggie choices to include mixed nuts or a fresh veggie platter or tempura to accompany the hops, barley, malt = liquid granola that will keep me coming back!
griffin342
Some people might enjoy a place like this but it just wasn't a dynamic I like. You order at the bar and don't have anyone checking on you. Had good beers and love that they have so many vegan options. Food was good. The guy taking my order wasn't super friendly and was more concerned about writing beers on the board than me waiting to order. This place might be perfect for some but not all.
Eric Lundell
This place helped me get started down the path of a craft beer lover more than 10 years ago and continues to have rarities on tap you cant find elsewhere. Staff is great and love the dive bar feel. Great place to catch a band from time to time and the kitchen does not disappoint with tasty sandwiches and crispy tater tots. if you don't like dive bars you will probably hate this place but if you like dive bars it is the original dive bar in the area as far as I am concerned and you will love it.
W Reid
The Galaxy Hut is really small and has limited seating. There's only 8-10 small tables and a bar with about 8 stools. The bartender was good. We enjoyed a couple if beers there. Some of the tables are arcade games, which is cool. They do have what looked to be really good late night grill food.

This place is an absolute gem and a blast from the past with the decor and general vibe. The staff are very chill and welcoming, and the menu options are great. I like how they cycle their beer often. After going here for years I recently discovered that they even have a backyard which blew my mind. Highly recommend going to Galaxy Hut and getting transported to another galaxy either by yourself or with friends.

Wesley Kirkland
It was unique. I don't like the bar scene but I sat outside. I got the BBQ grilled cheese (Non Vegan) and it had a unique taste, not good but not horrible.

This place has expanded my mind on how good tater tots can be… Their tater tots are crispy and delicious, the best I’ve ever had. Me and my friend got the totchos with cashew cheese, vegan chorizo, and bacun. It was SO good! It was a generous sized portion to share too. And all vegan! So many vegan options on the menu! I will definitely be back to try their other food.Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian options on the menu

Sweet vegan spot with a local vibe. Delicious beer options and surprisingly cheap food! This place is a gem decorated with and playing VHS tapes.

I love this "sports bar" they always have an available chess board to use and have a tube that is always playing movies from "back in my day."Five literal stars across the board. Such a cool spot! The outdoor area is out the side door and down the alley. Though, my only complaint is that if you’re sitting out there, you’ll be trapped by all the smokers, especially if you’re sitting in the hut. The fries and NACHO TOTS were to die for!! Order them!! The soyrizo was so good, one of the best meat alternatives I’ve had!
Tyler Garling
Galaxy Hut is awesome! I love the live music they have and the drinks on tap are always great. The food is really good too. This is a great place to come after work, have some drinks, and then stay for the music. I love the VHS tapes playing in the background!
Larissa LaCour
Wonderful little "dive bar" with great, diverse craft beer selection. The food is super tasty, but totally bar food (delicious tots and grilled cheese sandwiches with tasty ingredients). Options for vegetarians and vegans as well as meat eaters.
Kat F
Love this bar and so does everyone I've ever met! Classic movies, tabletop video games, eccentric decor, excellent beer selection and truly delicious vegan-friendly food.
nathan riech
Ordered online the brussel sprouts and buffalo cauliflower I believe also goes by the name KFC. Both were extremely tasty and very good portions. The person preparing the food was wearing their PPE and was very friendly. They have a table at the front door where you can wait to pick up your food so that you don't have to go inside. They also have canned beer to go at reasonable prices and a good selection.7/22Open for dine in. Still great. Excellent selection of draft beers and meatless food.
Adam Robinson
This is my local bar... basically its the only one in the Arlington corridor that isn't constantly overrun by "Let's get as drunk as possible and start a fight" crowds.First off, I'm a beer guy so that's what first drew me in. They serve no liquor and I think 1 white and 1 red wine... but seriously, get the beer. They updated their menu on 11/14 and removed ALL meat. Everything is vegan friendly now... I am not a huge fan of this because my go-to drunk consumption food of choice were their Dale's Pale Ale hotdogs with cheddar cheese and bacon. The more I think of it, the more I should appreciate that is no longer on the menu for health reasons. Either way... STILL GOT TATER TOTS!Holds 66 people, low key, and I love it. Go here and show Nick the bartender some love... or if you're a crappy person, go somewhere else and leave this place for me!
Wendy Bermudez
I’ve never had a bad time at the Galaxy Hut! People are always nice, the drinks choices are always great, the ambiance is always fantastic, and I always have SO MUCH FUN! And their food? FAN-FREAKIN’-TASTIC! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Galaxy Hut!!
Wilfredo Morales
Great food, vegetarian and vegan friendly. Awesome beer selection served by friendly staff. Most importantly, it's a great place to go out without running into the frat and sorority "young adults" that clutter most of Clarendon.
Kieran Lyons
Good beer selection at reasonable prices for the area, especially during happy hour. Pitchers are available for some beers. Medium-sized menu of classic, tasty bar food. All choices can be made vegan or vegetarian.
Jennifer van der Linden
The Big Mock burger was amazing! We ordered two vegan Big Mocks with regular dairy cheese and it was amazing!! The baby kale salad with toasted chickpeas and lemon vinaigrette was amazing too and we also loved the tator tot nachos! The beer list is also beyond impressive.

GOATed with the sauce, specifically any sauce on their tater tots.

Greg Wells
Garrett Smouse
Galaxy Hut is always a solid choice when you need great beer, tots (and totchos) - and of course fancy grilled cheese. My wife is vegetarian and there are more interesting options here for her than 90% of other restaurants it seems.
Joseph Raczynski
Classic old school Arlington bar. Good beverages on tap, but definitely more dive-ish, with solid bar food.
Ethan Stackpole
Truly one of the few places in Clarendon you can go to see local music and get high quality beers and bar food in an unpretentious setting. Their taps always rotate seasonally and the management spends a lot of time researching new styles of beers and ciders to test out. Live music nights are awesome, you never know what you're getting into. There's also a small patio on the side of the weather is nice.
Justin Kalanchoe
Loads of veggie options. Be aware that everyone must show ID and be over 21 to be here. Very retro hipster vibe that can be somewhat offputting. If you know that you should seat yourself and order at the bar and get your own water, it's great. The food is greasy but delicious. Man, this review sounds awful, but the place is pretty good for real.
Olivia Kerrigan
What a weird and wonderful find in Arlington! They serve great vegan food and beer with a fun, light atmosphere. The people here are like family! The cauliflower "wings" are great and will make even strict carnivores happy. The oatmeal stout is great if you like dark, rich beer. They don't serve liquor, which fits with their vibe. A cute place to stop in and get appetizers and a drink before going crazier at one of the other bars in the neighborhood.
Vicki
Best dive bar in Arlington. The draft beer menu is expansive. The food I dream about for weeks after eating it. All their food can be made vegan and the substitutes are amazingly delicious and aren't expensive to substitute. The move is to get the tater tots and turkey melt and substitute turkey for vegan grilled "chicken". You can play 2 player Pacman at some tables and there's also a small patio to sit outside.
Michael Berliner
This place is sweet, known as a hipster dive bar, but nevertheless, it is dark, interesting, and always has one of the best beer lineups. The food is pretty good as long as you aren't there solely for that reason. It's cool that some of the tables are also retro video games.
Zachary Leuschner
Small location with a big beer menu. Lots of rotating seasonals and specialty brews. Get here early--hard to find a space late in the evening!

To borrow from my review on Yelp, I should first start out by saying that I can't write an objective review of Galaxy Hut - it is my local bar (even though I live in Mount Pleasant), it is home-away-from-home, and it is basically family to me.I know all the staff, and the owner...and the previous owner, and I call them all friends, so take this with a grain of salt:I guess I've waited so long to write a Galaxy Hut review because I like to keep my hidden gems hidden...but sadly, I'm lying to myself if I say it is hidden anymore. So may as well help bring in the right crowd, and point the rest of the people down to Whitlows where they belong!Galaxy Hut is a place you go to in order to see your good friends, to catch up and have a great pint of beer. No, they don't have hard liquor anymore....it's been years, and while I love my bourbon, I'm fine with this place just being decent bar food and beer....and good music. The beer selection is great, the live music may be a bit on the decline, but it is great as well, and the regulars are awesome. Is it a bit of a hipster crowd...these days, maybe. But since part of being a hipster is denying the culture we'll never really know.Come here for good beer, good conversation, and friends that you will have for a lifetime.Oh, and if you are part of the post-frat, post-sorority crowd, check out Whitlow's reviews on Yelp instead!
Sreehima Gadamsetty
Food is great, beer selection is great, and the wait staff is always friendly! The only downside is how small the space is, but if you get there early or have a small group of 4 or less, you’ll be fine. I recommend the loaded tots or any grilled cheese!
A. C.
Went for the comedy night and it was great, place is cozy and has vegan options but it's more of a beer and bar food place vs restaurant and most things are fried, which is cool if your in the mood for that, it was my first time there so I wasn't prepared. I would definitely go back after having dinner at another place and just hang out for some drinks.
Matthew Williams
The food was pretty good, everything could be made vegan the only issue was the service. The first time I was there I had to ask for a refund after 1 hour of waiting. The second time my tater tots came out after 45 minutes. If you want to try it I recommend eating then going, by the time your food makes it to you, you may be hungry again

Great, relaxed bar. Only has one television, and it's so crappy that you can't even really watch it. I love that. Music is low enough that you can hear your companions speaking.Food is pretty good, and drink selection is excellent. You could definitely call this a hipster bar. Not for the wild party crowd, but great for a calmer evening just enjoying time with friends.
Amy Braden
Got to visit last week for the first time in ages, and gotta say I still love this place. Had a blast hanging out in the old Dremo's silo on the patio, seeing some favorite Ben Claassen paintings still up (and some new-to-me velvet paintings!) and of course drink delicious beer with a side of tots.
Buster D
Others say dive bar but I'd say a cozy bar. They have an amazing selection of craft beer on tap, most are about $3 more than other places though but you're paying for the intimate ambiance. Good date spot or a good place for solving the world's problems with a bud. Friendly, quick and attentive service along with some food options. Good for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the Clarendon crowd.
Apollo Ryans
It's a still cool place after all this time. Younger to Hip crowd usually find them selves here. Reasonable beer choices. It is small and is limited to being bar rather than a lounge. But if you want a bar and some good vibes I recommend it.
Mel S Tryon
Love this place. "Dive bar" in the best way. Love how the food can be vegan and absolutely delicious - or non vegan and still plenty tasty. Great beer selection & sometimes live music or comedy.

I almost don’t want to give Galaxy Hut five stars because I love it so much and I’m selfish and don’t want it to become super popular...Alas, you cannot deny the people great tots, fun vegan dishes, and delicious cheap beer. So here I am.Check out their live music on Mondays, it’s a pretty great crowd!
Joe O'Connor
This is the best bar in Arlington if you are looking for a place where you can relax and shoot the breeze with friends without getting distracted by 47 TVs and super loud music. It's also small enough that it can't ever get that crowded. Great drink selection andd the foods great too.

This bar is a hidden gem in Arlington... great appetizers, beer, and friendly staff. They mix up music events depending on the schedule. The crowd is not that rowdy and you can even try the small table pinball video game.

The food and beer is excellent, and it's one of the few dive style places in an otherwise extremely wealthy community. I took a star off because if you want to go there on the weekend, good luck finding a seat - seating supply is much less than seating demand.
Richard Peche
Great dive bar feel, their beer selection is always diverse and on point. Nice place to go on a date or with a group of friends after work. There's also a smoking patio with a creepy clown face painted on the wall that'll surely be a conversation starter.
Paul Stevenson
Catholic celebrating Lent here! These sandwiches were so dank. This was such a great hidden gem and one of my best discoveries since moving to the DC area. Perfect for meatless Fridays, but I’ll be coming back on other days too!

Went for Karaoke night. Fun, friendly crowd who like a good variety of non-mainstream songs and conversation. Beer selection was very solid local craft. Food looked good too but didn't try it.
Justin Zymbaluk
Galaxy Hut is a quirky, grungy dive with great beer and better food. Art hangs on the wall and tasteful heavy metal plays through the speakers. This bar is a treasure of the community. Stop in and grab a drink, and make sure you try the eggplant fries
Corrie Davidson
How do you rate the best bar in Arlington when it borders dangerously (and gloriously) on the "dive bar" category? The food is okay for a dark and dimly lit bar. Its an all vegetarian menu, with most items available vegan as well - GH is known for its tater tots. The beer selection is quite good, with twenty rotating taps and seasonal offerings. The walls are decorated with crazy, colorful art and there are several old video games available. It can be a hassle to find a seat, but there is an alleyway for smokers thats quite pleasant in the warm weather. There is live music on most Sunday and Monday nights and karaoke isn't unheard of if you're into that. All that said, I love Galaxy Hut and it is easily my favorite bar in Arlington.

Great place, never thought of coming here until it was the only option for a calm and relaxed setting, but honestly... I love it!The eggplant fries are a must if you're looking for something fried and yet healthy at the same time. I will totally be coming back here for sure.☆☆☆☆☆
Tim McAndrew
If you like good music, great atmosphere and awesome, obscure beer, then Galaxy Hut is your place. Its like an oasis in a barren desert of Arlington Bars, where the patrons are friendly, the bar staff is knowledgeable and the beer changes every week. if you like great IPAs, high octane stouts and refreshing light fruit flavored beer you must check this place out. Bands also play here (it's a great place to see a show) and the music choice from owner Lary Hoffman always has you guessing (in a good way). In my opinion this is tied for the best bar in Arlington.
JC Kollmorgen
This place has an amazing beer selection, although I wish they had a better happy hour deal. Otherwise, love the relaxed space. Food is good too - go with the tater tots.
Andrew M
Great hipster dive bar with man good beers on tap and good food. Vegan options on all foods on menu, and decent happy hour specials. No liquor or cocktails, no water beers (e.g. miller lite, coors, etc.)Fun comic art on walls by Ben Claassen that make the place aesthetically enjoyable. Staff is laid back and nice. Good place for small happy hour.
Tanya Lawrence
Tasty vegan bar food (tots are stellar) and excellent craft beer list.
Tom VanAntwerp
Tessa Cannon
Alien Green
This bar is a hidden gem in Arlington... great appetizers, beer, and friendly staff. They mix up music events depending on the schedule. The crowd is not that rowdy and you can even try the small table pinball video game.
Jacob Milgrim
Great dive bar atmosphere with plenty of drink options and fantastic food! The sausage sandwich was 10/10 and the burgers are huge, a great vegan spot!
Zachary Malley
Love the patio area, beer selection makes finding a bad beer hard, the corn dogs are worth the money (did the vegan, but the batter is original and tasty) and tatchos... Come, enjoy, or not so we can still grab the last place to sit and enjoy ourselves outside.

This is probably the best beer bar in Clarendon. While most of the denizens of Wilson and Clarendon Blvds are going from sports bar to sports bar, Galaxy Hut focuses on creating an excellent rotating draft list and a really cool vibe. The little outdoors spot is a fun place to hang out if you can get past the smoke.
Brittany Blevins
Great spot to hang out and have some great brews, not to mention anything on their menu can be made vegan or vegetarian, they have something for the whole crowd. Get there early to snag a table, and if it's nice out check out the little alley way for some great outdoor seating!
Joseph Garland
I come here a lot and always have a great time. Place is really chill and low key. Food is reasonably priced and tastes great. Never had a bad experience here before. If you are looking for a low key bar that is not so busy for a week day happy hour this is a great place to go!
Patrick Bailey
Galaxy Hut has the best beer selection in Arlington. Forgoing bright lights and loud music, this place isn't quite a Dive Bar, but more of a chill, relaxing vibe. Great place for a first date, or the outdoor seating is good for groups. When one of my buddies is in town looking for a drink, I take him to Galaxy Hut.
Peter Lougee
Although the happy hour is limited, the extensive non-happy hour beer list gives Galaxy Hut the fourth star. Combined with a solid dive bar vibe and over-full baskets of tater tots, and you can't go wrong here. As long as you can find seating.
Reed Waterworth
One of the best beer lists in arlington and great bar food menu (lots of vegan friendly options). Strong VHS movie collection to boot. Good luck finding a place to sit Thu-Sat evenings though--seating is an uncontrolled post apocalyptic cage match and once a victor busts out of thunderdome with a table they generally cling to it with a white knuckle death grip that would impress Lincoln Hawk. Try the tots.
Adam Winters
The line to get beer/food is painfully slow. With about 40 taps, there is only one bartender who must give advice of beers to try, pour the drinks and deal with a credit card system that must be new based on how slow they tap through it. Every time I waited for a drink, it was a ten minute affair. Great food and drinks otherwise, but honestly they need to clear up that pain point in order for me to come back.
Brandon Davis
Really great food and an awesome selection of local craft beer. Service is always slow when we visit, and it can be hard to get a table when they're busy, but it's a fine place to visit if you aren't in a hurry.
Lee McDaniel
Josh C
Vincent “Moose” McClain

When Google said "...old-school video games accompany craft beers & vegetarian eats in a funky bar.", they were mostly right. For old school video games, I was expecting an arcade of sorts (like those beer-cades popping up everywhere). I was disappointed to see only pac-man and a pin-ball machine. Oh well. The food and beer is great though. I wanted to try their tater tot nachos ("totchos" on their menu) but I slurred the order so the bartender heard nachos. The nachos came out and it was delicious. I will have to go back and try their tater tot nachos at some point though because reading other reviews, it seems like that item is all the rage. They have happy hour between 5pm-7pm which gets you $4 pints on select brews.Great dive bar with patio!
Katlin B.
The bar is filled with my kind of people. Low frills, great products and not too much typical Arlington-bro culture. That's fine if it's your scene but it's not for me. If you squint your eyes, maybe you would think you're in DC on U or H St. They play VHS tapes and have tater tots. That should help you make your decision. If you're a bro, please stay away so this place can remain a special jewel in Clarendon.
Jonathan Keam
It's got great beer, a cool retro vibe with the arcade machines, and grilled cheese and tater tots. It's a bit small and dark, but that just adds to the charm of this place. Would def recommend.

I must admit I do not visit the Galaxy Hut as much as I'd like to, but when I'm in the area and have some time to kill this is a place I like to go. It can be a quiet spot to visit friends it read the news over tater tots and a pint. But I've been there for raucous live music or hanging out in the alley-patio with a bunch of friends.Thank you, Galaxy Hut! You've shown up often in the history of my nightlife.
Rachel Rudd
After moving back to my home state I haven’t been here in years so imagine my surprise when it’s no longer “divey” but much cleaner and definetly a lot more vegan. My bf says “they painted over my memories” :P so if vegan food is your thing this your place, if you’re coming based on old reviews don’t because that is no longer the theme and you will risk some disappointment.
Dani Boden
Staff was nice and had a variety of vegan and vegetarian options but if you have a food allergy be aware of cross contamination! My partner had a severe allergic reaction right after we left.
Stephen Botts
Good craft beer selection. The place has a cool down tempo indie kinda vibe. Definitely will hit it again.
Andrew
Went for the first time stumbling into a comedy night and had a good time. Was a little taken aback at the beer prices but I'm not a local and have nothing to judge it against. This place has a great local feel with plenty of what I assume were regulars.
Jenny Kim
Good beer, crunchy tater tots, good company, and an awesome down-to-earth low key vibe. It is a small venue, but the place was full of life and excitement. If I'm ever in the area I'll be stopping by again.

Once a 20-something gets tired of the Spider Kelly's, Don Tito's, Hunan Number One, and Whitlow's run-around they'll eventually find themselves at Galaxy Hut.Don't come too hungry though as you'll wait a bit for food. Order some beers, put in a order for tots, and plan to hangout for awhile in this unassuming dive with big personality. If you aren't satisfied with the selections head on over to Space Bar in Falls Church, their sister bar. Bartenders are much friendlier and the beer options greater. The Hut does have a better location in Clarendon and caters more to vegans if that's your thing.

Great selection of craft beers and multiple size pours make it fun and easy to try tons of great beer. Vhs playing classics on the tv. Joe was great and helped me find few beers ill be on the look out for in the future

Most unique place in Arlington. Great, rotating beer list and gourmet grilled cheese options. The "Totchos" (tater tot nachos) are worth a weekly pilgrimage.

Great beer selection, friendly service. Totchos, y'all.

Nestled deep in the heart of preppy Arlington; Galaxy Hut is a secret counterculture safe haven. A few arcade tables and some cool artwork try to set it apart but its main draw is lack of popped collars and vocal fry.

This place is fantastic. My carnivorous family loved the fricken chicken and the mock burger. The totchos and brussel sprouts were also a crowd favorite!!!!!
Kezhen Shen
Good option for vegans as all the foods come with a vegan option. They beer offerings were decent and the food good for a bar. Would give five stars if I was a vegan.

Just whoa. Knock your socks off good. I had dreams about those totchos after we ate them (we did queso, chili, & grilled onions). The chicken sandwich was dope and my non-veg mom was also impressed.

I love this place. Staff is amazing, food is fantastic, beer selection is wide, and there's always an 80s movie on the TV. I really couldn't ask for anything more

I love this local long time establishment. Don't want to hype it up and ruin the local key feel, but the bartenders walk the line between friendly and feisty and it's got good grub. Tachos. Need I say more?

Galaxy Hut is a relaxed cozy place not like the rest of the bar scene around Clarendon. There is usually an older crowd with local and alternative art and decorations.

Nice neighborhood bar. Super tight on space unfortunately. The beer selection is great but it's really tough to get around in here on a busy night.
Caleb Astey
Hip bar in Arlington that occasionally has live hipster bands play to a maximum capacity of like, 25 people. It's one of the last bastions of anti-broness in all of A-town.
Nick N
Best beer selection in Arlington. Great food, very accommodating staff, cool atmosphere. Just don't try to order anything that isn't beer.

It's a pretty small bar, by it's a nice cool spot that's a little further up the street from all the craziness near the metro area. Our scheduled live tater tots which was a definite plus!

Very similar to spacebar , only with a lot more seating options, and a slightly smaller menu. However you get the same feel when dining in or just grabbing a beer.

You can make practically anything on their menu vegan! They have a variety of delicious fried food and an assortment of tasty beers
Angela Tapia
I didn't go in the restaurant Because the man in the door ask for my ID And I gave him my ID which was Colombian, It clearly stated my date of birth, But he told me I needed my passport to go in that is the rule in the restaurant. And I didn't have my passport in this moment, only my other ID...So I asked him if I can go in just to eat and he said NO. I felt discriminated against because I am foreign. I will not be coming back here again... For me they have the Worst door service ever.
