Greetings to all. I’d like to share a few words to highlight McDougal Funeral Home, for the services that Mr. Michael McDougal and his wonderful staff have provided to me, my family, friends and to my beloved (deceased) brother, Dwight “Chila” McCray. R.I.P 😔When the passing of my brother first came to my attention, unlike most, the news was devastating to say the least. I was without answers, words and certainly didn’t know the right decisions to make at the time. I will try hard to be few in words.This is how I can best explain my thoughts. McDougal Funeral Home was the first establishment mentioned to me, as a recommendation to the family, where my beloved brother would best be taken care of. This information came directly from first responders on the scene, police, fire department, ambulance and a personal family doctor. Without hesitation, I immediately contacted McDougal Funeral Home, and spoke to a gentleman named Michael.Immediately upon speaking to Michael, a stranger, I certainly felt the uncanny feelings of a person who displayed genuine compassion, empathy, kindness, generosity, respect and most importantly, the love. I never made the connection that I was speaking to Mr. McDougal himself. The Man, The Person, The Owner, The CEO, The Embalmer, The Make Up Artist, The Financial Advisor, The Director of Services, The Limousine Driver, The Spokesperson, The Facilitator and the one who prepares the deceased for family funeral services., Trust me, Mr. McDougal wears many hats and can certainly do it all. I just never knew…McDougal Funeral Home was ultimately and unequivocally, the right decision my family and I decided to utilize, for all arrangement's regarding a proper celebration of life for our loved one.Additionally, his professional staff can only be summed up this way. The best in the state. The staff first handily took care of all the programs, pictures, obituaries, videos, payments, counseling, advising and several others things per the request and on behalf of the family. A job Well deserving of Governor’s and Mayoral recognition. Truly the funeral home and staff of first choice. These words cannot speak volumes and are sincerely from my heart.A person who lives in Indiana, and only visited Salt Lake City twice in life, what a magnificent job, well done by McDougal Funeral Home. The McDougal Funeral Home was superb in handling the arrangements for my dear cousin Dwight Dewayne McCray. I have no complaints at all. The staff was patient and kind and accommodating and very professional.The staff was superb. I am most familiar with Mr. Michael McDougal who was just EXCELLENT in representing himself and The McDougal Funeral Home. Being so far away from home; as I live in Jackson, Mississippi; I have absolutely NO COMPLAINTS of their services to our family.The staff member that I am most familiar with is Mr. Michael McDougal. While , being so far away from our home state and city; my family; The McCrays have had no complaints to my knowledge. Mr. Michael McDougal patiently accommodated my family superbly.and we were and are so very pleased with service of the funeral home totally.I have absolutely no complaint of The McDougal Funeral Home nor its staff; nor have I heard of any from my family members. We were so far from home (Jackson, Mississippi) and I have yet to hear of one complaint while there in Utah nor since my return to Mississippi. Jeff was very caring and openly sympathetic to help with any of our needs. Everyone there was quick to accommodate any of our requests. If I could put more stars on this review, I would. McDougal's has been nothing but wonderful to work with. The care and concern they showed our family was so genuine and heartfelt. It, being a difficult time, was eased somewhat as Darren went over everything very carefully. He made suggestions that made sense to us. He went above and beyond anything I was expecting. My family has dealt with the McDougal family since the 1950's when I had a brother buried. Their attention to detail for the funeral was wonderful. But what amazes me, is that I have received several calls, just asking how I am doing emotionally. That and the aftercare. This I was not expecting. Absolutely everyone's concern for my family was way beyond compare. I have spoken with numerous people from McDougal's. Each one is concerned about my welfare as a grieving spouse. I just can't say enough about this place. Oh, and at the aftercare meeting, they gave me and my daughters memorial photo's of my wife with a poem on it. They also gave us some bookmarks with the same thing. This place is absolutely wonderful to work with!!!

McDougal Funeral home helped my father plan his funeral years in advance, so there were no surprises when he passed away. They brought us in for a consultation, found his files and payments, and helped us create a funeral plan that was perfect for our family. We felt like they cared about us as people, not simply clients. Michael had our best interests in mind, helped us choose cost conscious yet beautiful selections (casket, flowers, services, etc.) and personally came to attend us at the funeral, even though it was a Saturday. My son recently passed away unexpectedly and since McDougal handled my grandmother and grandfather's services, and my Aunt's and uncles had done their planning through them we thought they'd take good care of us.From the very beginning we felt like dollar signs. My Aunt's happened to accompany us in meeting with McDougal and found that she was being charged double what I was for the use of the celebration of life services.McDougal also advised us that we'd need my ex husband's consent to cremate my son despite the fact that he's been absent from my children's lives for many years. This created absolute chaos and heartache for my whole family as my ex husband is violent and has made several threats on my life.When we looked up Utah code concerning this information with legal help we found that the information given was incorrect and caused undue stress for no reason. When we made the decision to go with a different funeral home we were told they were legally obligated to let my ex husband know where we were going.I understand that every situation is different, however considering that I have a protective order in place I feel this put my safety at risk during a time when I should have only had to worry about mourning the loss of my son.The other funeral home was not only able to arrange cremation for my son WITHOUT my exes permission due to all of the court documents I had, but the services were in a beautiful location that felt next to heaven, and hand picked by my son.On top of everything else the costs associated through the other funeral home were significantly less than what McDougal was charging. I've never felt less like a person and more like dollar signs in my life.I highly recommend you do some research and compare costs.

Our experience with McDougal Funeral Home couldn’t have been better. From the time we met Dave Bartholomew at the Home and Garden show, purchased a plan from him to the meal after the service that Faith arranged, it couldn’t have gone better. Everyone involved from Dave, Sundee, Terry, Faith , the limo driver and anyone else who I forgot to name, Thank You for all of your compassion and help. I did leave our funeral director off the list because I wanted to give my personal and special thank you to Michael McDougal. He did his job flawless (in my opinion), so kind and helpful. He was willing to do anything I asked as quickly as he could. He was easy to talk with, provided excellent advice with regards to anything involving the funeral. It is unfortunate when a family must deal with a funeral home. Someone close has been lost and not only are the feelings from that loss lingering, but there is also the duty to ensure the family member is treated respectfully. Our mom had a pre-need plan with McDougal’s for decades after they handled our dad shortly before. Upon her passing, I called McDougal’s as I had been instructed. From that point, they did yeoman’s work in contacting and working with the out-of-state funeral home that would prepare Mom for transport. Over the days it took to transport her body to Utah, our funeral director, Mr. Michael McDougal, kept in contact with us keeping us aware of all that was taking place in the process and working with our local funeral home. I cannot stress enough the professional conduct and personal attention Michael gave to us during this time. The local funeral home relayed that Michael was very helpful to them and made himself available when needed. When we met Michael, he was not expecting us but still stopped what he was doing to greet us and give an update on what had been done since Mom’s arrival. He showed us around the funeral home and let us know all that was available to provide a nice memorial service for our loved one.A comment on the funeral home itself. The entire place is spotless, and the chapel area is gorgeous, equipped with everything necessary for conducting a funeral service. The viewing areas and sitting rooms are just as splendorous as the chapel. Each of the people working there was as professional as Michael and very pleasant. One might think that they must be because that is their business, but you can tell that, yes, it is a business, but also that they truly care about each family that walks through their doors in a time of need. Everything, and I mean everything, was managed well with Michael taking the time to listen to our thoughts and providing needed advice. The weather took a turn for the worse at the time we were to hold the service, and Michael accommodated the necessary changes to move the services into the chapel instead of the graveside service we had planned. The preparation of Mom’s body was perfect. She appeared so much like she did before her passing, and her hair was done just like she would have wanted it. She chose to be buried in her Temple clothing and that was handled with dignity as would be expected.Looking back on that time, I realize all the little things that Michael and the people at McDougal Funeral Home did to make the moment special. Those things that we had not thought of nor asked about. In the end, the memorial service for Mom turned out well and the family was able to say their goodbyes and talk about their memories of her in a perfect setting. Our thanks to the staff, and particularly Michael McDougal, for what they did before our arrival and the aftercare we have received long since departing Salt Lake. An unforgettable experience in many ways.

If I could put more stars on this review, I would. McDougal's has been nothing but wonderful to work with. The care and concern they showed our family was so genuine and heartfelt. It, being a difficult time, was eased somewhat as Darren went over everything very carefully. He made suggestions that made sense to us. He went above and beyond anything I was expecting. My family has dealt with the McDougal family since the 1950's when I had a brother buried. Their attention to detail for the funeral was wonderful. But what amazes me, is that I have received several calls, just asking how I am doing emotionally. That and the aftercare. This I was not expecting. Absolutely everyone's concern for my family was way beyond compare. I have spoken with numerous people from McDougal's. Each one is concerned about my welfare as a grieving spouse. I just can't say enough about this place. Oh, and at the aftercare meeting, they gave me and my daughters memorial photo's of my wife with a poem on it. They also gave us some bookmarks with the same thing. This place is absolutely wonderful to work with!!!

They brought us in for a consultation, found his files and payments, and helped us create a funeral plan that was perfect for our family. We felt like they cared about us as people, not simply clients. My son recently passed away unexpectedly and since McDougal handled my grandmother and grandfather's services, and my Aunt's and uncles had done their planning through them we thought they'd take good care of us.From the very beginning we felt like dollar signs. My Aunt's happened to accompany us in meeting with McDougal and found that she was being charged double what I was for the use of the celebration of life services.McDougal also advised us that we'd need my ex husband's consent to cremate my son despite the fact that he's been absent from my children's lives for many years. This created absolute chaos and heartache for my whole family as my ex husband is violent and has made several threats on my life.When we looked up Utah code concerning this information with legal help we found that the information given was incorrect and caused undue stress for no reason. When we made the decision to go with a different funeral home we were told they were legally obligated to let my ex husband know where we were going.I understand that every situation is different, however considering that I have a protective order in place I feel this put my safety at risk during a time when I should have only had to worry about mourning the loss of my son.The other funeral home was not only able to arrange cremation for my son WITHOUT my exes permission due to all of the court documents I had, but the services were in a beautiful location that felt next to heaven, and hand picked by my son.On top of everything else the costs associated through the other funeral home were significantly less than what McDougal was charging. I've never felt less like a person and more like dollar signs in my life.I highly recommend you do some research and compare costs.

I was extremely disappointed in the way I was treated recently by the staff at McDougal Funeral Home. They had taken a large spray of flowers to the wrong service which left our service without it and to make it worse they blamed it on the florist. I personally worked with the florist that went above and beyond to help me find them (during the service) while the entire time the funeral worker did close to nothing but continue to blame the florist. Come to find out it was the fault of the funeral home employees. Never got the flowers! The important part is the way I was treated. Staff made me feel as if our grief, need and service was not as important as the other service. Days later the funeral home worked with the florist to get my money back but I never got a call, card or anything from McDougal's with a simple apology for the way the staff treated me and the mistake that was clearly theirs. Very Disappointed.

My dad passed away a few years back and we worked with Michael McDougal at the McDougal funeral home. We felt well-cared for and comfortable asking any and all questions, regardless of how odd. Michael was always kind and treated my family and dad with great dignity.Recently my mother-in-law passed away and I didn't know that not all funeral homes would not give the same treatment. With a different mortuary we felt it was almost predatory in nature. My mother-in-law had set up her wishes in advance, but I didn't know it was something we needed to talk about with her. Our family has worked with McDougal Funeral Homes on 2 occasions now. We were so happy with them after they took care of our mom’s funeral, that my dad did his planning through them for his funeral. I've been attending services there my entire life, including my angel mother five years ago. They did not disappoint! During what was such a difficult time for us, they were so compassionate, professional and took every care to ensure the services were beautiful. My Dad had purchased a funeral plan from McDougal Funeral Homes over 20 years ago. When he passed we only had to make one call to McDougal and they took care of everything. It was such a relief to the family to be able to celebrate his life without the worry of all the small details that required attention. Amazing after 20 years how much they cared about him and the family and how thoughtful they were afterwards. I received several follow-up calls after the burial from them just checking to see how the family was doing. They also gave us great guidance on how to go about settling his estate. I had worked with Michael McDougal for several years prior to his getting into the "family business" at the McDougal Funeral Home. I knew and trusted Michael, and when my Mother passed away he was the first and only person I called to facilitate our needs for the family and for my Mother. Our family has used McDougal many times and we have always been pleased with the service. I recently had to bury my newborn son. The worst most painful experience I have dealt with. This funeral home is then only one of the many I called that did not quote me a large fee. All I had to pay for was a casket. They dressed, prepared, transported and cared for my son beautifully and at no cost.The generosity and compassion that has been given to our family at this time has been outstanding. I have even had a few follow up visits and calls form them just checking to see how im doing.I cant express well enough the gratitude I have for this family owned company and the gift they gave us. I appreciated meeting with Michael McDougal after my mother's passing. He was compassionate, sensitive, and professional. He patiently answered all my questions and helped me make decisions about the funeral. I was impressed with Nichole's patience, professionalism, and kindness in preparing the funeral program and photos for the video. The funeral was held in McDougal's chapel because of Covid, and it couldn't have been nicer. Things were set up nicely at the cemetery and we didn't feel rushed at all. When my dad passed, everything just went by so fast and I am glad we chose McDougal at our time of grief. We had Nathan and his fellow partner come over to take my dad, and he was so kind. I was extremely disappointed in the way I was treated recently by the staff at McDougal Funeral Home. They had taken a large spray of flowers to the wrong service which left our service without it and to make it worse they blamed it on the florist. I personally worked with the florist that went above and beyond to help me find them (during the service) while the entire time the funeral worker did close to nothing but continue to blame the florist. Come to find out it was the fault of the funeral home employees. Never got the flowers! The important part is the way I was treated. Staff made me feel as if our grief, need and service was not as important as the other service. Days later the funeral home worked with the florist to get my money back but I never got a call, card or anything from McDougal's with a simple apology for the way the staff treated me and the mistake that was clearly theirs. Very Disappointed.

My dad passed away a few years back and we worked with Michael McDougal at the McDougal funeral home. We felt well-cared for and comfortable asking any and all questions, regardless of how odd. Michael was always kind and treated my family and dad with great dignity.Recently my mother-in-law passed away and I didn't know that not all funeral homes would not give the same treatment. With a different mortuary we felt it was almost predatory in nature. My mother-in-law had set up her wishes in advance, but I didn't know it was something we needed to talk about with her. Now I know and have talked with both my mom and my father-in-law and have my own wishes in place.We will for sure work with Michael McDougal again and are very grateful for his compassion to my family during our time of grief. They were so kind, caring, compassionate, and professional from the time they picked up his body until the end of the graveside service. Michael McDougal was the funeral director for both of our services. Michalel's compassion, kindness and expertise made our grief easier as we had decisions to make. We had purchased planes with another funeral home and upon its sale, were handed off to a second funeral home, and when this one also was sold, we found our plans would be handed over to another morturary we would never have chosen, because of its reputation. Knowing that McDougal Funeral Home had been around for a long time and had a good reputation, we brought brought our plans to them. As they put our plans in place, they were thorough and honest. We felt satisfied we had made the right choice.When my partner passed away, I couldn't have placed her in more compassionate hands. After her body was prepared for viewing she could not have looked more natural and at peace.In preparing for the funeral services and burial, they guided me through the steps and helped me pick just the right casket, flowers and headstone. Their careful attention to every detail of the viewing, service at our church, transportion her body to another city for interment, and the service at the graveside left me free of stress in those matters; and I will be forever indebted to them for making her final celebration so beautiful.A few days after the funeral services they took time to go over all things that I needed to do to resolve her affairs. They patiently answered my questions and extended an offer to help me with any paperwork I might need help with.My own funeral services will be handled by McDougal's at some future time. I feel very comfortable knowing that they will take care of me in the same respectful compassionate way.

My Dad had purchased a funeral plan from McDougal Funeral Homes over 20 years ago. When he passed we only had to make one call to McDougal and they took care of everything. It was such a relief to the family to be able to celebrate his life without the worry of all the small details that required attention. Amazing after 20 years how much they cared about him and the family and how thoughtful they were afterwards. I received several follow-up calls after the burial from them just checking to see how the family was doing. They also gave us great guidance on how to go about settling his estate. Really appreciate the thoughtful staff that helped us so graciously through this process.

I had worked with Michael McDougal for several years prior to his getting into the "family business" at the McDougal Funeral Home. I knew and trusted Michael, and when my Mother passed away he was the first and only person I called to facilitate our needs for the family and for my Mother. He and the Mortuary went above and beyond in working with the needs and plans for the funeral, as they do for any who come thru their doors. I know this because I am a professional Bagpiper and I have worked thru McDougal Funeral Homes on that side many times as well, and I have seen that professionalism with many families and funeral services. Our family has used McDougal many times and we have always been pleased with the service. I recently had to bury my newborn son. The worst most painful experience I have dealt with. This funeral home is then only one of the many I called that did not quote me a large fee. All I had to pay for was a casket. They dressed, prepared, transported and cared for my son beautifully and at no cost.The generosity and compassion that has been given to our family at this time has been outstanding. I have even had a few follow up visits and calls form them just checking to see how im doing.I cant express well enough the gratitude I have for this family owned company and the gift they gave us. I highly recommend McDougal funeral homes Eric and Ron are awesome.update...These guys even made it a point to reach out on the anniversary of my sons birth and passing just to send a little love our way.This was really a great added touch. I appreciated meeting with Michael McDougal after my mother's passing. He was compassionate, sensitive, and professional. He patiently answered all my questions and helped me make decisions about the funeral. I was impressed with Nichole's patience, professionalism, and kindness in preparing the funeral program and photos for the video. The funeral was held in McDougal's chapel because of Covid, and it couldn't have been nicer. Things were set up nicely at the cemetery and we didn't feel rushed at all. I highly recommend McDougal Funeral Homes.

When my dad passed, everything just went by so fast and I am glad we chose McDougal at our time of grief. We had Nathan and his fellow partner come over to take my dad, and he was so kind. We went to the funeral home to see Michael and everything just felt like home. It gave us comfort knowing that my dad was sleeping well in there and every time we went to visit my dad, it felt so inviting. We went to a different mortuary that day and it literally just felt like a business. McDougal cares about our loved ones and us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️

When my husband got a funeral plan from Pam at McDougal in January, I had no idea we would be using it so soon. He died suddenly in February from a heart attack. Jeff at McDougal went the extra mile for me. It took 2 weeks to get my husband shipped to SLC for burial. He called daily to try and get the mortuary in Las Vegas to move faster and was very kind and caring when he finally got there for the graveside. Everyone I dealt with was exceptional. I would highly recommend McDougal Funeral Home and have done so to many friends and acquaintances. They have taken care of many of our family members over the years and most recently my husband. They were so kind, caring, compassionate, and professional from the time they picked up his body until the end of the graveside service. When we met with them to plan the viewing and funeral service, they were very concerned about our feelings and carrying out our wishes. They eased our burden by contacting Social Security and making arrangements with the cemetery. They special ordered the casket that we wanted, and they did a fantastic job at preparing my husband's body. They made a very difficult time easier to bear.

I want to thank McDougal Funeral Home for their excellent, tender and compassionate care during the death of my mother. Darren the funeral director was not "smarmy" like some I called. He was real and he was compassionate and helped us put together a beautiful funeral. We were under some budget constraints and he worked with us to make it as affordable as possible. (It was a minimum $3k less than the base price another funeral home I called quoted - and they were so smarmy. It felt fake.) They also put together a beautifully framed memorial of my mother which was at the viewing and each of us in the immediate family will get one.Eric who I talked to originally and who came to get her body, which was so difficult for my dad, did it gently and with much kindness and grace. When my mother-in-law passed they put her in a black body bag and zipped her up. These guys brought a sheet or blanket to wrap her in and it was so much nicer and more comforting. Especially for my dad.I love these guys. They were with us all the way. I felt very cared for. Thank you! I cannot recommend them enough.

Words can hardly express adequately how grateful I am for Darren Parker at McDougal Funeral Homes. I lost my father recently and although he was 84, it’s amazing how unprepared you feel emotionally and in every other way. Darren was there to help us every step of the way. He was professional and reassuring during the most difficult time of losing our hero. Darren arranged everything for us—the viewing, the funeral and even the graveside services in Idaho which included a military tribute. I feel limited in giving five stars. Losing a child is one of the most difficult experiences a parent may have. Losing two children in less than three months is beyond overwhelming. Michael McDougal was the funeral director for both of our services. Michalel's compassion, kindness and expertise made our grief easier as we had decisions to make. He patiently answered all our questions whether big or small. He helped facilitate small details that may have seemed insignificant but meant the world to us. We had purchased planes with another funeral home and upon its sale, were handed off to a second funeral home, and when this one also was sold, we found our plans would be handed over to another morturary we would never have chosen, because of its reputation. Knowing that McDougal Funeral Home had been around for a long time and had a good reputation, we brought brought our plans to them. As they put our plans in place, they were thorough and honest. We felt satisfied we had made the right choice.When my partner passed away, I couldn't have placed her in more compassionate hands. After her body was prepared for viewing she could not have looked more natural and at peace.In preparing for the funeral services and burial, they guided me through the steps and helped me pick just the right casket, flowers and headstone. Their careful attention to every detail of the viewing, service at our church, transportion her body to another city for interment, and the service at the graveside left me free of stress in those matters; and I will be forever indebted to them for making her final celebration so beautiful.A few days after the funeral services they took time to go over all things that I needed to do to resolve her affairs. They patiently answered my questions and extended an offer to help me with any paperwork I might need help with.My own funeral services will be handled by McDougal's at some future time. I feel very comfortable knowing that they will take care of me in the same respectful compassionate way.

My husband became one of the unfortunate 22 vets a day we lose to suicide last fall. This funeral home came recommended by a friend who was happy with their services (traditional LDS burial) however, my experience was completely tactless and have yet to receive a response to my concerns expressed last October via letter (they did send me a calendar which quickly found the way into the garbage.) Despite proof with my husbands DD214, I was required to front the $2400 it cost for cremation, I've since come to find out this isn't common practice. (It took nearly two weeks to receive an itemized receipt.) Also I purchased 7 death certificates unknowing my name was misspelled. When I told the funeral director who corrected them, I received no credit and had to give more money to get corrected ones. In addition, when I scheduled a viewing of my husband, he was still in the body bag the medical examiner had him in and the director seemed surprised I wanted to see his hand and had to exit the room while he cleaned my husband off. (Self inflicted gunshot wound.) When I went to pick up the cremains a week later, I was questioned as to whether or not it was even done and stood aside and watched as someone pilfered through boxes of cremains to find my husband located in a bottom cabinet in the office. I'll spare you the details of staff folding a burial flag but needless to say one of the men looked as though he was doing maintenance. Complete disrespect on all counts for someone who sacrificed himself to his country. If by some unfortunate chance you have time to read reviews before choosing someone to care for your loved one, do not go here.

We had a few members of the family (mostly children) that had not eaten for a while on the day of the viewing. I went out and got some food and brought it back. There is a "No Food or Drink" sign on the front door, but before sending everyone outside to eat (it was pretty chilly) I figured I'd ask if there wasn't an area where we could put some food out for them. I ASKED THE MAN IN CHARGE if there was a place we could eat inside and he directed us to an office. I was very appreciative and we set out some fast food in the office. The parents ate and went back to the viewing while the kids sat in the office and ate. As soon as the parents left, the worker went in and screamed and cussed out the little girls saying he'd made a mistake and they had to get out. What kind of person yells and swears at little girls AT THEIR GRANDFATHER'S FUNERAL?!? Especially for being exactly where HE told them to be? When I approached him to tell him what I thought of his behavior and find out more of the story, he actually threatened to call the police. I was, of course, extremely upset, but never threatened or touched him. Absolutely abhorrent behavior from an adult in ANY position, but especially one who is dealing with such a sensitive situation on a day-to-day basis. My daughters were afraid to come inside, they stayed outside on a cold bench for most of the rest of the event.I get that the kids might have gotten loud--they hadn't seen their cousins for a couple of years--but the total and complete lack of respect, decorum, and basic human courtesy was appalling.We had several other issues that I won't go into, but simply put, AVOID this funeral home, especially if you have children involved at all, as they offer nowhere for them to be that is out of the way. Find one that sees you and your family as human beings that have lost a love one, not just as a revenue source that they have an obligation to tolerate.

When my husband got a funeral plan from Pam at McDougal in January, I had no idea we would be using it so soon. He died suddenly in February from a heart attack. Jeff at McDougal went the extra mile for me. It took 2 weeks to get my husband shipped to SLC for burial. He called daily to try and get the mortuary in Las Vegas to move faster and was very kind and caring when he finally got there for the graveside. Everyone I dealt with was exceptional. Our staff and the family were extremely pleased with the manner in which things were handled. I’d use no no other mortuary in Salt Lake City to handle arrangements.

Mike McDougal did such a good job with my mother's makeup - she looked so alive. He even painted her vault top pink to match her casket. Everything was handled in the most respectful and kindly manner. I would highly recommend this company and will use them, myself, as the need arises. I want to thank McDougal Funeral Home for their excellent, tender and compassionate care during the death of my mother. Darren the funeral director was not "smarmy" like some I called. He was real and he was compassionate and helped us put together a beautiful funeral. We were under some budget constraints and he worked with us to make it as affordable as possible. (It was a minimum $3k less than the base price another funeral home I called quoted - and they were so smarmy. It felt fake.) They also put together a beautifully framed memorial of my mother which was at the viewing and each of us in the immediate family will get one.Eric who I talked to originally and who came to get her body, which was so difficult for my dad, did it gently and with much kindness and grace. When my mother-in-law passed they put her in a black body bag and zipped her up. These guys brought a sheet or blanket to wrap her in and it was so much nicer and more comforting. Especially for my dad.I love these guys. They were with us all the way. I felt very cared for. Thank you! I cannot recommend them enough.

I would not recommend this funeral home to anyone if you need to use their chapel. I attended my Aunts services today February 8th, 2016 and the the microphone was broken. When I say broken, I mean that it wouldn't hold its position on the podium so the person doing the eulogy had to try to hold it up the entire time and the feed back was so awful you couldn't understand what they were saying. Our poor singers experienced so much squelch that you couldn't even appreciate their beautiful talents. I will be more frustrated if the recording of the services that they provide to the family has this same quality of sound as during the service as this is our last formal memories of our loved one. They obviously haven't read previous post because there is another comment from January about the same issue. It may not seem important to them but as a loved one, there are so many emotions the day of the funeral that sometimes you want to re listen to the services at a later time or provide a copy to those who may not have been able to attend, so it is a big deal if the sound system Stinks. They were also doing some type of "fixing" more like "pounding" in an ajacent room during the services. So frustrating!

Words can hardly express adequately how grateful I am for Darren Parker at McDougal Funeral Homes. I lost my father recently and although he was 84, it’s amazing how unprepared you feel emotionally and in every other way. Darren was there to help us every step of the way. He was professional and reassuring during the most difficult time of losing our hero. Darren arranged everything for us—the viewing, the funeral and even the graveside services in Idaho which included a military tribute. I feel limited in giving five stars. If I could give 10 stars I would!! Thank you McDougal Funeral Homes for bringing some peace to our hearts at a time when it was desperately needed. My husband became one of the unfortunate 22 vets a day we lose to suicide last fall. This funeral home came recommended by a friend who was happy with their services (traditional LDS burial) however, my experience was completely tactless and have yet to receive a response to my concerns expressed last October via letter (they did send me a calendar which quickly found the way into the garbage.) Despite proof with my husbands DD214, I was required to front the $2400 it cost for cremation, I've since come to find out this isn't common practice. (It took nearly two weeks to receive an itemized receipt.) Also I purchased 7 death certificates unknowing my name was misspelled. When I told the funeral director who corrected them, I received no credit and had to give more money to get corrected ones. In addition, when I scheduled a viewing of my husband, he was still in the body bag the medical examiner had him in and the director seemed surprised I wanted to see his hand and had to exit the room while he cleaned my husband off. (Self inflicted gunshot wound.) When I went to pick up the cremains a week later, I was questioned as to whether or not it was even done and stood aside and watched as someone pilfered through boxes of cremains to find my husband located in a bottom cabinet in the office. I'll spare you the details of staff folding a burial flag but needless to say one of the men looked as though he was doing maintenance. Complete disrespect on all counts for someone who sacrificed himself to his country. If by some unfortunate chance you have time to read reviews before choosing someone to care for your loved one, do not go here.

We had a few members of the family (mostly children) that had not eaten for a while on the day of the viewing. I went out and got some food and brought it back. There is a "No Food or Drink" sign on the front door, but before sending everyone outside to eat (it was pretty chilly) I figured I'd ask if there wasn't an area where we could put some food out for them. I ASKED THE MAN IN CHARGE if there was a place we could eat inside and he directed us to an office. I was very appreciative and we set out some fast food in the office. The parents ate and went back to the viewing while the kids sat in the office and ate. As soon as the parents left, the worker went in and screamed and cussed out the little girls saying he'd made a mistake and they had to get out. What kind of person yells and swears at little girls AT THEIR GRANDFATHER'S FUNERAL?!? Especially for being exactly where HE told them to be? When I approached him to tell him what I thought of his behavior and find out more of the story, he actually threatened to call the police. I was, of course, extremely upset, but never threatened or touched him. Absolutely abhorrent behavior from an adult in ANY position, but especially one who is dealing with such a sensitive situation on a day-to-day basis. My daughters were afraid to come inside, they stayed outside on a cold bench for most of the rest of the event.I get that the kids might have gotten loud--they hadn't seen their cousins for a couple of years--but the total and complete lack of respect, decorum, and basic human courtesy was appalling.We had several other issues that I won't go into, but simply put, AVOID this funeral home, especially if you have children involved at all, as they offer nowhere for them to be that is out of the way. Find one that sees you and your family as human beings that have lost a love one, not just as a revenue source that they have an obligation to tolerate.

Very unprofessional they made 5 big mistakes for my brothers funeral which he had already had everything planned out and everything was picked out in 2006. How could they leave out words on a headstone. We even had to ask them to trim his hair before they viewing
