It was a very stressful time with the passing of my mother. I was lost and confused not knowing what to do or how to handle it. I am so thankful I chose Avinger Funeral Home. They answered all my questions and help guide me through this troubling time I was going through. Even afterwards they are still reaching out to me seeing if I am doing well. They are still helping me with the grieving process. I can't thank them enough for everything they have done for me and my family, and still continue to do.

Just held a ceremony for our beloved mother at Avinger. LeAnne could not possibly have been better. She had the perfect mixture of empathy and know-how. Mom’s death was unexpected and LeAnne deftly and quickly guided our tragically hurt family through the most difficult time of our lives and I couldn’t be more grateful of her efforts.LeAnne made it very easy to reach her anytime, day or night, and often worked after hours and on weekends to help us navigate the many options and myriad problems that can arise.The funeral home and staff were able to accommodate a much larger wave of mourners than anyone expected. LeAnne’s recommendations of a pastor and a florist were excellent and the music and photo montage were perfect. We had over 50 family members come from out of state for this funeral and everyone was impressed. Thank you so much!

LeAnn and the whole Avinger family were and are so caring, helpful, reverent and accommodating. You cannot ask too many questions! The patience and professionalism in providing the answers to all those questions gave us a sense of comfort, understanding and encouragement in completing the process made everything so easy to handle at such a difficult time. Our family has always turned to Avinger Funeral Home to lay our loved ones to rest. I never had to actually plan a funeral until I lost my brother. We were nervous with not having Mr. Buddy there anymore, however the new owners took care of him as if he were part of their own family. They were comforting during the hardest time of our lives and took us under their wing from the first phone call made to them. I hope nobody ever has to feel the pain we still feel today, but if you are ever in that situation they will take care of your loved one and the family during those sad times to help everyone through.

My brother passed away on May 16th. I contacted Avingers to pick him up because before it was bought out by Mark Smith, Mr. Buddy and Ward took care of my entire family. I go the 17th to try to.make arrangements. He had no insurance so they wanted money up front, which I understand. I was then told my brother's body was not at Avingers in Holly Hill his body was taken to Charleston to be embalmed and then shipped back to Holly Hill. I was never told this when I called to have his body picked up only after I went to make arrangements was I told this. Leanne and Greg told me at Avingers that "majority of people knew this since Mark Smith bought Avingers that their loved ones will be embalmed in another location". Explain how we are suppose to know if we are not told that until after the fact??? When a family member calls in it should be explained at that time. I would never have called them if I knew his body would have had to go to Charleston and not to the funeral home location (Avingers) that I chose. I chose Thompson's Funeral Home in Orangeburg to take care of my brother because they worked with me and the financial situation I was in. We were told by Greg there will be no charges to pick my brother's body up from Charleston but there has been a problem. He said we just started the embalming process but by the time they get here he should be embalmed. $1500 for embalming and I said you knew 2 hours ago I did not have the money to have Avingers take care of him so why would you embalm him after the fact? He said there would be no charge but low and behold a week or so after the funeral Thompson's gets a bill for almost $600 for them releasing my brother to them....even after I was told there would be no charge. This post is in no way reflected toward Mr. Buddy Avingers or Ward Avingers or their family. They were golden and wonderful wonderful people and still are. They took care of my entire family and I will forever be greatful but Avingers Funeral Home now is just a viewing location and not the Avingers of old. So glad I chose Thompson's Funeral Home in Orangeburg to take care of my brother. Best decision I made.

Please read this before going to Avinger Funeral Home.Last year my father passed away and we had dad cremated. No service, no casket – just cremated. We paid $3,389.50 to Avinger Funeral Home. I recently found out that the fee to have a love one cremated is only $900. I called and spoke with the gentleman who helped us out and to tell him that we must have been charged for other services that we did not use. He freely admitted that yes, we would have been charged $900 by other companies. But he said, because Avinger provides lots of services with overhead costs, we paid an inflated rate to help them cover their costs even though we did not utilize those services.My question to Avinger Funeral Home is why did they not tell us that we could have gone to another facility down the road and save $2000? Maybe what they did was not illegal, but we deserve to be treated better by the people who help us when we are the most vulnerable.

My father passed away less than six months ago. Unfortunately, we have had to ask Avinger's to go repair his grave twice as it had holes in it. Was told his grave was near the road where there was a lot of vibration and a rock plant nearby. However, none off the other graves in that vicinity have had problems. We were told if we had anymore problems to let them know, but it would be nice to be assured it was taken care of properly so it would not occur again.

Advinger's has been a part of our family for years, so when it came time to bury dad he already had things arranged. The staff was friendly and always concerned if they could assist with our need's. A service I'm sure my family well use again.

Recently my family needed the service of Avingers . Our family has used Avingers many times in the past, but always when Mr Buddy was in charge. I was worried that since he is no longer there that things would be different. However; I was amazed by the current staff. They were very helpful and very sympathetic. I was very pleased and I highly recommend them to everyone
