I will be eternally grateful for the care and support that I received from Mona Barger at McAlister-Smith. My sweet dog passed away in the early hours of Christmas Eve. Mona came to our home to retrieve his remains on Christmas Eve in Kiawah within 2 hours of my call. She did so with much respect, care and reverence for his remains. As we were out of town and my adult children were taking care of him, we had to watch by FaceTime and saw how carefully and reverently she handled him- 64 pounds. We were able to get back in town and view his remains and he was placed so peacefully for a final viewing. We were given time with him and made arrangements for his cremation. I can’t express how grateful I am for how Mona cared for our sweet Dexter’s remains. Thank you Mona for your care and respect.

I can’t say enough good things about Gene and Cheryl. They are simply the best and definitely know how to help you through this difficult process. They were kind, soft spoken and patient. My daughter had pictures and a beautiful saying to use for the remembrance cards for her father and Cheryl did a wonderful job creating that for her. They even reached out to check up on us a few weeks later. Wish I could give more than 5 stars!!

I just wanted to say how outstanding the entire team was at McAlister Smith in West ashley on Bees Ferry Rd. They helped us navigate through one of the most difficult times of our lives and were so caring. They treated my Father that passed with such honor. My Father was in the Air Force and we are a military family and the passing of the flag at the ceremony to my family was truly beautiful. I would highly recommend this group to anyone that is looking for a funeral home that does everything with perfection.

Being a military family, I hadn't a clue who to turn to. We didn't have friends nor family in this area. Also being black Americans we wanted our loved one to look natural and again, we didn't know who had the reputation in this area to fulfill our wishes. McAlister- Smith is a beautiful yellow building that had often caught my eye. As funeral homes go, this one looked cheerful and inviting.....not that I wanted to be invited. When I reached out to them, the warmness from the very first call pulled me in. My loved one was being flown to another state. McAlister-Smith took care of this entire process from beginning to end. They communicated every step of the way and did exactly what they said they would do. It literally was seamless. They were angels who lifted a heavy weight off my shoulders. The aftercare was no exception. They give you so many resources to help navigate "next steps." They have thought of it all so you don't have to. I appreciate everything they did for my family and my dear loved one and would recommend them to anyone needing these services.

I have had the unfortunate responsibility of burying my father in law a few years ago and my brother in 2023 of June. I have been to several friends relatives burials and memorials at McAlister in Goose Creek. If there is an upside to the sadness, pain and ongoing healing that takes place. It is the wonderful staff at McAlister in Goose Creek. They were wonderful to the family and myself throughout the processes. While it’s is difficult to make some tough decisions they have a way to patiently bring you through the process. They follow up with you and offer many programs afterwards if you need them. I would never go anywhere else.
Shamika Koger
The staff is very professional and courteous. The transport team has always arrived in a timely manner and always inform family of their duties and allow the family the option of final goodbye before transporting. These things are very important to a hospice nurse.
Cindi Rourk
My Jackson (canine) was sent there for cremation services. Absolutely no sympathy / empathy from any member of the staff. Instead of explaining the process, they tried to upsale. Veterinarians beware - this should not be your partner. My boy was still laying in their care until I called with a credit card. When I need services for any family members, this will be the last place I will go.
Mildred Strobel
Everyone was friendly and very helpful through the entire process of arrange for my Mother's funeral. The staff was attentive and understanding. The family was appreciative of all their assistance and kindness.

I can't say enough about the support and service I received from the entire team at McAlister Smith. They were close to me throughout the process. Losing your Mom is heart wrenching. I received calls, texts, information I didn't even know I needed. Weeks after her passing, they have continued to be there for me. I highly recommend them to anyone who has lost a loved one.

Choosing this funeral biome was the best decision I made when it came to having to plan my father’s funeral. They were very professional, attentive to any needs and simply made the process so much easier than we were anticipating. This allowed the family to process more and focus on each other instead of a crazy amount of details and work.Their chapel was also very convenient and well done.

My experience with McAlister-Smith was very comforting and caring. The staff was very compassionate and understanding of my needs. I was pleased with the service I received, especially by my representatives handling my sweet Charlie. Rachel was very responsive and professional. I knew I was in good hands. Thank you for your kindness.

I had to put down my best friend and loyal furry companion of 11 years in January. I was blessed that my boyfriend had used them for pet cremation services in the past and knew how great of a job they do. From the moment that we step foot on their property, they made us feel comforted and that our baby was in good hands. Every detail of what they do is absolutely spot on, I would recommend them a million times over. They truly made it a little bit easier to lose Lou & never made me feel silly or over emotional about the loss of a pet. Thank you McAlister-Smith for all that you did for our family, it was appreciated more than words can convey.

McAlister Smith took care of my sweet kitty Stella Blue with such care and kindness. They were timely and considerate with the cremation. They went above and beyond to help me find comfort during this difficult time. They even reached out to me several months later to see how I was doing. Their kindness was greatly appreciated.

My father passed away somewhat unexpectedly in Charleston last week. We immediately reached out to McAlister & Smith to handle the arrangements. Given we had family visiting in town at the time, we wanted to organize a small family funeral within a few days. We were told by the hospital and McAlister & Smith that arranging the cremation before the funeral would be almost impossible, given the protocols required by the state of South Carolina. Sal took great care of us and worked miracles to get the cremation done in a few days and expedited ordering of a custom urn. Everything was ready for the funeral 4 days later, to our amazement and delight. Sal's experience and expertise were invaluable during this difficult time. His communications were excellent. Nothing could have gone better from our perspective. My family would like to thank Sal and the entire McAlister & Smith team for their professionalism and superb service during this very difficult time.

On such a dark day, McAlister-Smith was a bright light. They took great gentle care of us and allowed us as much time as we wanted to say goodbye to our beloved dog. They even checked up on us about a month after to let us know they were thinking of us. I highly recommend them and thank them for their services!

McAlister-Smith was a blessing during a very difficult time. My husband and I lost a much loved member of our family, our 16 year old cocker spaniel. It was devastating and from the very beginning of the cremation process to bringing him home again the staff treated us with understanding, sympathy and a honest effort to make everything a little easier. Thank you for being so kind.

Who knew that McAlister Smith Funeral and Cremation Services had a pet component to their funeral business? We certainly didn’t, but when my daughter’s dog died suddenly on a Saturday there was no where to turn. The vet’s office was closed and no pet crematories were open. I called McAlister Smith and they were amazing from the initial call to receiving the dog to making arrangements for cremation. Every aspect of the experience was exceptional. I would highly recommend this amazing team should you have a loss of a pet.

In 2018 my fiancé and I brought our dog in to have her cremated after she passed. We were amazed with the treatment by McAlister -Smith with our beloved pet. They treated her with respect just any other family member. She was placed in a room and we were able to spend a few moments alone with her. Since then we have taken two more of our pets here. There is no other place that I felt I could have trusted with the treatment of my four legged family member. I appreciate everything they have done for my wife and I.
John Robinson
The staff was warm, friendly and very helpful. My father had to be flown from SC to DE and the handled everything professionally. I didn’t have to worry about anything. My Dad was a Deacon in the Catholic Church and they called a Deacon at the local parish to get him dressed properly in his vestments.

I cannot say enough about McAlister-Smith. It takes a special kind of person to work in their type of business. Everyone there including Kathy, Cheryl, and Elizabeth are truly caring and remarkable people. Just in talking to them over the phone, you are able to feel how much they care and understand the hurt and loss you are going through. There is no other place I would go to in dealing with the loss of a loved one or pet. Professional, kind, and caring every step of the way.

I cannot put into words how thankful I am for hearing about McAlister-Smith pet cremation. I lost my cat very tragically and unexpectedly and it was harder to deal with than I could have ever imagined. From the very first encounter with McAlister-Smith my heart was filled with comfort. I honestly felt more compassion from them than I did my own vet’s office. The pricing was very reasonable and the paw print they made me from my sweet Phoenix was perfect and will forever be cherished. Losing a pet is hard but they made it just a little easier. Thank you to the wonderful group of compassionate people at McAlister-Smith!

It's such a hard time when you have to say goodbye to a loving family pet but it's so comforting to have the staff at McAlister-Smith take the time to walk you through the experience and select just the right way to memorialize your pet. Unfortunately, we have had to say goodbye to 3 dogs over the years and each time we trusted McAlister-Smith and each time they did not disappoint. From the planning to the follow up they are the BEST! I would recommend them 100% of the time should you find yourself in need of their services.

Absolutely the BEST!! Everything was organized and every detail covered! Thank you, Don, Gene, Sandra and the rest of the team!

My mother passed away on Wednesday, October 26, after a long series of illnesses. Even though we knew her time was near, it was still heartrending when she passed. You tell yourself you're ready, but you really never are. She's left a void in our family that leaves me sad and yearning to see her or talk with her one more time. Having friends and family around has definitely helped but it's a hard reality to face knowing I will never see her again in my lifetime. When we chose McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation Goose Creek, we were hoping to be met with understanding, support, empathy, and, above all, respect. We received all of that and more. Greg could not have been more helpful, personable, knowledgeable, and sensitive to our pain and sense of loss. He carried us through the process with ease and great empathy and we are very grateful for his warmth and kindness. At a time when we were feeling tremendous loss and even disbelief, Greg made us feel he understood what we were going through and gave us assurances he would be there whenever we needed him. I would highly recommend McAlister-Smith to any family having to go through such a painful time in their lives.

Caring, compassionate, and sincerity from all the employees who work here. The extra measure of love we were shown in your time of trouble was nothing but the best. They helped us put our puppy of 16 years to rest and were there with us every step of the way with all the patience, kindness, and understanding. The love and support we received for our fur baby was remarkable. Thankful for them from the bottom of our hearts.

The team at McAlister-Smith was amazing in handling the death of our cat. They were kind, caring and considerate and took the best care of our sweet Henry during the cremation process. The death of my husband was a gut-wrenching loss but having McAlister-Smith close by brought me comfort. They showed the upmost respect and caring every single step of the way... laying the flag across his body when they came to get him (he was a veteran) to helping me choose every little detail for the memorial & service. They went above and beyond in so many endless ways. Even in the following weeks and months after his death, they continued to call & provide care and assistance exceeding all of my expectations. I highly recommend using McAlister-Smith Funeral home if and when your need arises. They truly feel like a part of the family. ❤️

McAlister-Smith has handled the cremation of my beloved pets several times. I wouldn't call anyone else. They understand this is a member of your family and treat your departed furry friend with the utmost respect. They offer many options to choose from.

The McAlister-Smith family helped our family through a very difficult and unexpected time. Their care and compassion was so very genuine and very much needed. My husband and I were beside ourselves when we lost his Dad who lived with us to COVID. He was diagnosed positive and then within a week he was gone. Mark, Mandy, and Cindy gently walked us through every step in the process and they were so helpful with helping us get all of Dad's affairs in order. After all of this, my husband and I will definitely be pre-planning our own final arrangements with McAlister-Smith to save our children alot of stress while they mourn.Thank You McAlister-Smith for treating our family as if we were your own.Warmest Regards,Pam and Todd Morgan

I have brought 1 dog and 2 cats there and could not have been more happier during my unfortunate loss of my pets. The staff was professional sweet and kind. That's why I've gone back 3 times over 5 years. It makes me sad to see a review of them being rude because I couldn't felt more at ease! I will go back when the time is necessary. To know my pets are cremated individually know I will get my pets ashes puts me a ease because my pets are my world my family. I would recommend this place to anyone that has a beloved pet and would like their ashes!
Carole Cooper
McAlister-Smith West Ashley staff were so kind to me. I had visited another funeral home at the cemetery where my parent's gravesites were and was treated as if it was a sales call. I left heartbroken. I then remembered attending a Celebration of Life at McAlister-West Ashley. I called to make an appointment and felt like I was being embraced. From the first visit they asked about my mother and what she and our family would want. Each staff member I encountered was caring. They assisted us through the entire process before and after her funeral and were so patient with me as I was "walking in a fog" of shock and grief. Kindness is healing.

Recently my wife and I had to say goodbye to our 17 year old Chihuahua. McAlister/Smith had previously (8years prior) cremated a family pet, so I decided to give them a call. Thank God I did!!! They were so compassionate on the phone and on the day we said goodbye,I called agin to inform them we were on the way. When we arrived (my wife, I, my 6 year old step son, and our beloved Dylan) we were completely shocked. We walked in and they had bed made up with blankets & pillow just as he was a human body. We layer him down, cried and they moved Dylan to a private viewing room. They let us say our goodbyes in private and we all had letters we wrote the night before. They even cremated Dylan with our letters.I must say McAlister-Smith is absolutely amazing and I am so thankful for them. In one of the most difficult times, they showed love, compassion, and true empathy. They made that dark day a little more bright To them 2 legs or 4 legs, does not matter. It’s a loved one. Thank you so much. Y’all will forever be forever in our hearts.Btw. We even got a text from them a few weeks later, checking on us. Who does that? McAlister-Smith does!!! Because they care!!

My beloved Persian cat, Fij, passed away in late-September 2020. He was 19. I got him as a kitten and had him my entire adult life. He had been there for me and loved me through college, law school, relationships, job changes, and everything else that life throws at a person. I loved him more than anything in this world and was overwhelmed with heartache after his passing. I retained McAlister-Smith to perform a private cremation. I also had them make a “clay paw” (a paw impression in clay). It was so special and turned out so beautifully that I broke down into tears when it was presented to me. (Note: If you’re debating whether to purchase a clay paw, trust me— it’s worth the extra money. Once in a while, I’ll pick it up, close my eyes, and rub my thumb across the impression — it feels just like one of his little paw pads.).Everyone at McAlister-Smith was so kind, compassionate and professional. They allowed my partner and I alone time with Fij before taking him to the crematory. We were in a small, private, dimly-lit room where his little body laid covered with a red shroud and surrounded by beautiful flowers. I clipped a few of his long white whiskers before saying a final tearful farewell. Once I gave the “okay,” his body was wheeled into the crematory and he was cremated. The next day, his cremains were returned to me.During one of the most difficult times of my life, McAlister-Smith gave me comfort and treated my baby boy like royalty. I highly recommend their services to anyone who’s lost a beloved furry companion.

I was referred here by my vet, Charleston Harbor Veterinarians, when my cat passed. McAlister-Smith were very caring and careful with all exact details. The follow-up text was a nice added touch as well. Thank you.

They are all such loveing caring people. They treated my beautiful cat with nothing but the up most respect and they all so treated me the same way. If you lose a loved family pet I do recommend Mcalister-Smith Funeral & Cremation home. They will treat you like family. Thank you all very much for everything.

After the loss of my life long pet, I was devastated and really couldn’t even think of how to handle arrangements for my fur baby. Thanks to McAlister-Smith staff handling all the arrangements my life was put at ease. When it was time to pick up Aaron’s ⚱️, they even made that decision one that I didn’t have to worry about.Thank to the staff for making sure Aaron was taken care of and for my peace of mind.

McAlister-Smith should rename their business to 'Loving Arms', or 'Angels In Your Time of Need'. They are the most kind and compassionate group of professionals that I have ever met, and they helped our family through one of life's most difficult times; the death of a loved one. This review cannot convey how appreciative our family is of the McAlister-Smith team. Truly, angels in our time of need.Phil ChuyMt Pleasant, SC

Bernie Putnam and the McAlister team were extremely professional, caring, and helpful with planning and implementing services for our father. They always seemed a step ahead of us in planning to make sure that services went perfectly, including arranging for Veteran's tribute ( Taps/flag presentation) by active duty US Navy personnel. As close to perfection as one could ask for in what is a challenging time for any family.
Susan Batla
When I lost my dear Golden Bella, the staff at McAlister-Smith were extremely kind and helpful. They helped me pick out a beautiful box for Bella's ashes and took an imprint of her front paw. I was amazed when they contacted me afterwards to see if I was pleased. Very!

During the period of time burdened by great sorry, McAlister Smith politely, competently and efficiently handled the cremation of our beloved pet. Their service and choices for memorials is extensive and covers all price ranges. They are a great help during a time of great emotional stress.

After the unexpected loss of my grandfather while he was out of state, we scrambled to find a funeral home to help us plan a small memorial service and then transport him home. McAlister-Smith on Bees Ferry Rd is OUTSTANDING. The funeral director, Mandy, is one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve ever met. So many funeral homes are stuffy and (excuse the pun) stiff. Not here. Mandy and her staff truly CARE about assuring you and your whole family are okay. I hope I never need their services again, but honestly, I could not Have asked for a better experience.

I am so grateful for everyone at McAlister-Smith for their compassion during our unexpected loss. Bailey was the sweetest and most loving dog for 14 years and deserved the best. McAlister-Smith made sure she got it and I will be eternally grateful.

My dog had tragically been killed by a vet that was negligent. Then my other dog almost died also. My dog had already been out for a while the vet left him out all night. Then he was stuck there over the weekend. Me and a friend picked him up from the vet that Monday morning. Me and my friend watched as the vet pulled my beloved family member out of a deep freezer in a thin cheap garbage bag. Our actual vet gave us body bags to put around him and after we loaded him into the back of my 4runner. My friend put her Dads fire department blanket on him since I'm a firefighter and she said now he will have firefighters burial. I called Mcalister they were do nice they said to bring Abrams right over so I did. Sean Johnsosn was so amazing he was able to lift Abrams up by himself and put him on a metal roll table. Sean walked us through everything and said he was going to try an get Abrams into one of the nice bags they use and try and fix him so I can see his beautiful face. He called right away while I was at the hospital with the other dog and said he couldn't let me see him. Abrams was to bad, he couldn't let me have that memory of him. When I came in at 10 am Sean had my Abrams ready to go he was able to un thaw him and get him out of the body bags and the garbage bag, he had him in a really nice bag, which was left of him anyways. I'm still in shock that my healthy almost 3 year old dog died from a neuter and then my other dog almost died too, I'm completely devastated, but the way Sean took care of my baby, with love and respect gave me some peace and closure, we even talked about our dogs and their silliness. He let me show him pics and videos of the beautiful dog that Avrams was. I highly recommend Mcalister they have great bed side manner, everyone's extremely nice, and they treat your loss like it's there loss. Thank You McAlister and thank you Sean Johnson being there during one of my darkest moments. I'm truly grateful to you all.

One of the hardest things in life was when our beloved Katie Bug, a 16 year old Shiba Inu, let us know that she could not win her battle with cancer. Her vet confirmed that and with heavy broken hearts we relieved her of her suffering. I had researched local pet services for the occasion and had decided on McAlister-Smith Pet Cremation for several reasons. It was sealed when I first spoke to them and heard the genuine care and concern for the care of Katie Bug's remains and our concerns that she be handled properly. We delivered the remains of our beloved pet ourselves. The staff met us with genuine concern and cared for Katie with great dignity and respect. When all was completed they called for us to come for Katie Bug's urn and delivered her to us with sincere compassion. Katie now looks over the yard she loved to roam.We thank McAlister-Smith staff for all they did for her and for us. We would immediately and highly recommend them to anyone who cared for their pet as we did for our Katie Bug, who is sorely missed.

I will be forever grateful to Rachel Holdren and all the staff at McAlister-Smith, who afforded my much beloved cocker spaniel Jasper great dignity following his untimely passing. Rachel displayed such integrity and compassion in my time of inconsolable grief, going above & beyond to ensure that Jasper's remains were treated with respect in this end-of-life process. My sincerest gratitude.

I want to thank Mary W. at McAlister-Smith/Faithful Forever for being so kind and helpful to me and my sweet boy Eli. Some may never understand the love and connection of a pet/furchild, but I'm going to a grief counselor for the loss of Eli tomorrow. His passing has hurt my heart so much... my life has not been the same... I truly feel lost without him. He helped me with my Anxiety/PTSD in more ways than I can count.I have also used McAlister-Smith/Faithful Forever in the past and I've purchased the memorial jewelry with paw or nose prints on them. They are truly beautiful. I've always had a pleasant, comforting, and genuine experience.I'm just so very grateful and appreciative.

The team at McAlister-Smith was amazing in handling the death of our cat. They were kind, caring and considerate and took the best care of our sweet Henry during the cremation process. They even offer a clay paw print of your pet which was such a nice keepsake and a sweet way to remember the 16 wonderful years we had with our Henry ❤️

During a very difficult process, all the people at McAlister-Smith showed us so much patience and compassion. They dealt with our fur babies in a very dignified manner and helped us through some decisions. We are very grateful for their service and highly recommend them.

McAlister-Smith was so gentle and caring with us after the loss of our daughter. They walked us through every step of the process and we never felt pressured in any way. We highly recommended their services.

They were so nice and comforting. It was a hard time dropping my kitty off and then picking up her ashes. There was nothing but kindness, love and understanding of my situation. I would recommend them for any pet lover that has to go through this

Very impressed with the people who put it all together. They helped my family focus on the good memories of my dad. Also the process of getting it all together quickly and professionally. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

Bernie Putnam was my neighbor from his hometown. When my Dad passed away, I recommended to my family that Bernie handle Dad's arrangements. They didn't know him and were pretty hesitant. But I persevered. My family is pretty hard to impress but Bernie, with his compassion and profesionalism, put everyone at ease and gave us a beautiful service. What an incredible young man. You are so lucky to have him~~~

I recently lost my beloved dog, Angus, after 15 years of happy memories and treasured companionship. His passing, while inevitable, was very sudden and I will be FOREVER GRATEFUL to Mark and Elayne Smith and to the entire staff at McAlister-Smith for their compassion, guidance and remarkable standard of service in what was a time of great distress for my family.

They cremated my duck Quackers. They made the whole process bearable. Thank you so much for treating my pet like a loved one. After the loss of our chocolate lab Buddi, McAllister Smith made the best paw print of him after my failed attempt. My wife did not know I had MS do one and thought she was left with my 1st grade attempt at a commemoration. After I showed her she smiled for the first time in a few days. Thank you again.

On April 19th, 2014, my father passed away. He loved Motorcycles. A few years ago, my father and mother were at a biker rally and met a man who owned a motorcycle hearse. My Father requested that he be taken to his final resting place in that hearse. I found the card he had and called the man that previously owned it. He gave me the name of the funeral home that he had sold it to. I called McAlister Smith Funeral Home and they were so kind. I wanted to fulfill his last wish, and without McAlister Smith Funeral Home, this would have been almost impossible. The staff assisted in everyway possible. Mr. Smith escorted my father to his final resting place. I cannot thank McAlister Smith Funeral Home enough for all of their help and kindness. Words cannot describe what they did for my family. Thank you so much.

The. West Ashley funeral home closed early despite someone telling us someone would be available til 4pm. They sent us to Mt Pleasant only to discover the ashes of our loved one were in West Ashley. When we called again we got an answering service. The woman on the other sent an email on our behalf and then promptly hung up. This email, unbeknownst to us, told the West Ashley location to move the Ashes to Goose Creek. A day later, when we had time off work, upon heading over to West Ashley, we called only for the Pet Director, Sean Johnson, to tell us the ashes had moved at 11am and should be in Goose Creek early afternoon. When we showed up at 4pm in Goose Creek, the ashes had not arrived so we proceeded to wait an hour for the driver, Bob Kerr, to arrive.

On April 26, 2000, we adopted the last two kittens of a litter. Born on April 4th, brothers Mookie and Tigger were only three weeks old and weighed only 4 and 3 ounces respectively. Sadly, Mookie passed in 2012, when were still residing in New Jersey. On June16, 2015, Tigger moved with us to Charleston. An extraordinary cat with a wonderful spirit, he was a beloved family member and loyal friend for almost 19 years. We shared a uniquely special bond. When Tigger crossed the Rainbow Bridge, at 3:16, on Sunday afternoon, February 16th, I took his passing very hard. We've had and loved all of our many pets. Most were cremated. In each case, our pets were left at and their ashes picked-up from our veterinarian. Not knowing how or by whom our fur babies were being handled really bothered me. This time, thanks to the good folks at McAlister-Smith, parting with Tigger was such sweet sorrow.I spoke with Mary Wozniak (Director, Pet Services) and arranged a time to bring Tigger to their funeral home, in West Ashley. When we arrived, Mary was waiting at the door with a rolling cart bedecked with a pillow, a fleece blanket and some flowers. We took Tigger into a private viewing room where, unrushed, we were able to say some prayers, reminisce and spend our last few minutes together before bidding a tearful final farewell to our little buddy. The next day, just before Tigger was cremated, Mary called me with her personal cell phone, so I could say a prayer. It was a very bittersweet moment I will never forget.Tigger's ashes are back home where memories him will live forever...Thank you to Mary Wozniak, Denise McElwee and the good folks at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation for making a very sad and emotional time as beautiful as possible. We are ever grateful.Scott, Lois & Kaitlyn SmithCharleston, South Carolina

Thank you.

When I lost my dear Golden Bella, the staff at McAlister-Smith were extremely kind and helpful. They helped me pick out a beautiful box for Bella's ashes and took an imprint of her front paw. I was amazed when they contacted me afterwards to see if I was pleased. Very!

There is nothing easy about losing a loved one and perhaps the hardest thing of all is deciding what your next steps are. My father passed away rather suddenly on February 13th and this devastating loss was eased by the care and attention that our family received from Mandy Caceres at McAlister-Smith on Bees Ferry Rd. From the moment that she contacted us we all felt as though Mandy truly cared about us and what Dad would have wanted. She went above and beyond to ensure that he received everything that he deserved, especially as a 31 year Navy veteran. Mandy became a part of our family and grieved along with us and never made the experience seem as though it were just a business transaction. Although you never want to think about funeral planning, it is important to know who to turn to in a time of need. I would give Mandy 10 stars if I could and would not hesitate to reach out to her again in a time of need.

When we lost our precious son as a result of a car accident, we were devistated and had no idea where to tun or what to do and to be honoest were very concerned that we would be taken advantage of during a time of vulnerability. My family and me can not thank you and all of your staff at McAlister Smith for the loving way you took care of our every need without even haven to ask you. Don't take this wrong way, but I hope not tobe back anytime soon. I do highly recommed your company to others. Thank you again.

McAlister-Smith Funeral Home provided our family with special care that lessen the burden in a tragic experience. Our father and mother were visiting Charleston from New York and while on vacation, our father passed away suddenly. Bernie Putnam from McCalister-Smith graciously assisted in the arrangements for the return of our father to New York. McCalister-Smith Funeral Home exceeded our expectations by going above and beyond with the level of comfort and care extended during such a difficult time.

Our daughter passed away unexpectedly. We were greeted by Ms Hunt. She introduced us to Mr. Bernie Putnam. They were professional and together made our situation most bearable. I have nothing but high marks for them. I would highly recommend Mcalister-Smith.

Extremely compassionate on an extraordinary level. Bernie Putnam assisted a family from his home town. Mr. Casey! Mr. Casey was the fabric of so many lives of those who attended Highschool in Churchville, NY. When Bernie was presented with reality of having to assist the Casey family with bringing Mr. Casey home! No one could have imagined the magnitude of how much this meant to the Casey family. The dignity, respect and admiration was so evident, from the family to Bernie and from Bernie himself, to the Casey Family. This was nothing short of amazing to watch. Thank You for your service, Bernie!
Debbie Morgenweck
Great caring team! When our pet lab passed, they were so compassionate and caring. They took great care of Cody and we’re so kind to us!
Thomas Bennett
Absolutely the finest service there is in Charleston South Carolina. The staff are gracious, caring and absolutely the top professionals in the field. They took the best care of my family and we certainly appreciate all they did.
Samuel Temme
Thank you very much to everyone at McAlister-Smith. Everybody we encountered there was very helpful, and we were also very pleased with their flexibility in our choice of arrangements. Their support made this difficult time a little easier.
Jane Murray
Every effort was made to turn a bad experience into a beautiful one. By the end of the service I felt like the McAlister-Smith staff were a part of my family as well. Todd, Bernie, Archie, thank you again.

Note - It was the James Island location, not the Bees Ferry Rd location.---I assume they're reasonably competent at the technical part of their business and the decor is what you'd expect for a funeral home. That part isn't hard to get right. I didn't care for the director putting so much emphasis on trying to tell people to keep their comments short. There weren't that many people speaking and there wasn't another funeral after ours. I contemplated telling him to eff himself. Something on cable he didn't want to miss? Try not to make it so obvious this is just a business to you.
Josh Surratt
So grateful for your care for us when we lost our puppy, Norman. You guys were so gracious and helpful to our family. A bright spot during a really dark time!
Keith Buckley
My wife and I met with Mandy to preplan for our funerals. The experience was wonderful. She answered all our questions and addressed all of our concerns. She made planning for the future a fantastic experience.
Shane Blankenship
When i lost my best friend and faithful pet, they took care of my every need and worked with me during this tough time, they made my Chico a beautiful urn with custom engravings, they were kind, professional and welcoming, highly recommend them in those tough times

I was personally verbally attacked online by co-owner, Mr. Mark Smith, regarding my post about my family friend's horrible personal experience at the hands of PALMETTO CREMATION co-owned by MCALISTER SMITH FUNERAL AND CREMATION. This is terribly telling of the deep and upsetting negative behaviors exhibited by this organization from the top-brass - down. I hope Mr. Mark Smith changes his negative and disgusting ways. They are unprofessional and downright rude and crude. So very sad and unfortunate.
Dave Smith
McAlister-Smith was so gentle and caring with us after the loss of our daughter. They walked us through every step of the process and we never felt pressured in any way. We highly recommended their services.
Brandy Harper
They were so nice and comforting. It was a hard time dropping my kitty off and then picking up her ashes. There was nothing but kindness, love and understanding of my situation. I would recommend them for any pet lover that has to go through this
Marie Modesitt
Their pet creamation services take of your animal and your needs professionally and a strong dedication to personal services. I was alone at such a difficult time losing my companion dog and they listened and assured me that he was in good hands.
Kay Miller
Very impressed with the people who put it all together. They helped my family focus on the good memories of my dad. Also the process of getting it all together quickly and professionally. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
Barbara Bianchi

Jason Uebelhoer

Terribly disappointed. Asked for paw and nose prints and a clay paw print and we went over the order line by line again. She read it back to me. I got charged for all of it. When I went to pick it up all that was there were the ashes. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Sal and his team were wonderful during my family’s greatest time of need. Not only did they take care of the logistics, but they also have many other resources to guide you through the process. Thank you again and for your humble service.
