This place used to be Pet Memorial Services until Abbey Glen bought them out a few years ago. They are a privately-owned New Jersey corporation with multiple locations in NJ and PA that buys up local pet aftercare businesses, jacks up prices, and partners with certain veterinarians to funnel them business. Corporate America at its finest - taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable times. In the 25 years I've been rescuing cats, my girlfriend and I had around 20 cats cremated at Pet Memorial Services, and even my largest cats never cost more than $340 for a private, attended cremation. When I called Abbey Glen earlier this week asking about cremation for my little 7 lb. Liesl I was given a price well over $600. I don't even remember what came after the '6' I was so stunned to hear the price. She told me the price would be lower if my vet was one of their 'partners' but didn't say what that would be, and it didn't matter because my vet wasn't.A quick search turned up at least two pet cremation businesses in the West Chester/Chadds Ford/Wilmington area that are locally-owned, charge about half of what this place does, and don't require your vet to be part of their little preferred provider club to get a fair price. The place I chose charged $280 total for a private attended cremation and a nice rosewood box for the ashes. There are some human funeral homes that do pet cremations that also came up in the search. There are better choices for pet cremation in this area that are truly locally-owned, charge far less, and don't have the negative reviews for botched paw prints, name-plate misspellings, and ridiculous prices that this place does. Where I went, every one of their 110 reviews was five stars. This place doesn't deserve your business.

Disappointed. We received our paw prints back after the cremation of our dog, and they look absolutely nothing like our dog's prints. They look like cookie cutter stamps. The nails don't match or the size. All our friends have been shocked to see the prints, and their first comments are that they can't be our dog's and that they look fake. We have many paw prints from our other pets, and the ones from Abby Glen stand out like a sore thumb. They charged almost $40 for an ink nose print on an index card that probably cost a dime to make. VCA could do much better in their choice for cremation location. We are terribly disappointed and sad. We will definitely not trust them in the future for our pet's final needs.

I was just reviewing Abbey Glen Pet Aftercare and it brought back terrible memories!! I lost my dearest little blind diabetic buddy of 16.5 years in November and trusted his remains with Abbey Glen. They were a complete disappointment!!! I paid for 2 casts of his paw print that was completely a fake! They were identical. It was nothing like his 10 pound body paw print!!! It was way too big!!!I have included a picture of what they sent. Not even close to my buddy. I could not trim his nails for the last year of his life so they were very very long. Notice on my picture how perfect his cast and nails are. IMPOSSIBLE!!!!They stole my last memory of him. I also paid a ton of money for a nose print!!! Shame on them again for charging almost $40 for a black print of a dog’s nose on an index card!!Shame on them!!! I’m not sure how they can sleep at night while stealing the last memories people have of their pet!!!I have talked to my vet about not using Abbey Glen Pet Aftercare for their terrible service!!!Please do not use Abbey Glen Pet Aftercare for your pets final handling. I do not trust them !!SHAME ON THEM FOR ROBBING ME OF MY LITTLE BUDDY’S ENDING!!!

My rabbit recently passed away, and I contacted Abbey Glen in West Chester for cremation services. Sam, a manager there, was exceptional—she patiently and compassionately guided me through the process. Within just a few days, I received my rabbit's remains, along with a beautiful clay print of her nose and paw, as well as an ink paw print, all clearly crafted with great care. The packaging was meticulous, showing the respect and dedication they put into their work. Their professionalism and kindness made a significant difference during a very difficult time, and I highly recommend their pet memorial services for when that moment comes for other pet parents.

I have nothing but the upmost respect for Abbey Glen . I have had a lot of my loving fur babies cremated over the years and this was the best experience I have ever experienced. All my others were just put in the little wooden box with a copy of the rainbow bridge and a certificate of the unfortunate date. Abbey Glen lets you choose the urn that is special enough for your fur baby or feathered baby . I was impressed with that right off from the start . I picked a beautiful urn to hold my babies picture , there was a note with their condolences along with instructions how to place the picture , and they explained for me not to worry that my baby girl was secure in a beautiful velvet bag .these people are the best and extremely compassionate towards you and your fur baby . They literally had her back to me in 3-4 days and there located in west Chester . All my other babies were taken to paws of heaven in pennsauken , where I had to wait almost 2 weeks or more to receive my babies. Also abbey Glen is so much more reasonable than the other . I have so much regret that all my other fur babies didn’t get treated as special as the way Abbey Glenn treated my baby girl.my fur babies to me are more then a family member they are my life , so if you have to make the unfortunate, heart wrenching decision of losing your baby and you want them to be treated better then a little king or precious little queen that they are then Abbey Glenn is your place for your fur baby . And you’ll have your baby back so soon . Thank you for reading , I hope I helped ease your mind about your decision. I honestly can’t speak highly enough about them . My Baby Girl is my chicken who unfortunately was very sick .the compassion they had for her and me I never experienced. Extremely heart warming experience. I hope you will take your chance with them when your unfortunate time is here . 🐾💗🐾

I just received the cremains of my beloved cat, Shadow. She was placed in a satin bag inside a lovely wooden urn which was inside a beautiful blue velvet bag. I also received a memorial card with my baby girls fur inside along with her certificate of cremation. Thank you Sara and Paul for handling Shadow with the respect and dignity she deserved.

They did such a beautiful job with Benji! My vet is Pine Creek Animal Hospital and they set me up with Abbey Glen Pet memorial to have Benji cremated. Benji was my best friend and such a wonderful pet! He will be missed so much! His urn is so beautiful! Benji was 10 and very sick.

I want too thank Pet Memorial for doing a beautiful job with our sweet 11 year old boxer boy Gus. I was absolutely not expecting it too be as beautiful as it is. Thanks so much for caring and taking care with our boy. We miss him so much and you have brought us peace knowing he's safely back home with his family. Again thank you🐶💙

I lost my best guy on Sunday, 12/3. He was taken from NJ to Abbey Glen's West Chester location and I could not be happier with my experience. I really feel he was treated with dignity and respect during the whole process and it brings me peace knowing that. I was able to drive and pick him up and Sarah at Abbey Glen was just so wonderful, compassionate, understanding and human. Unfortunately, during pet loss, we sometimes don't have a lot of support from the people surrounding us, but with Sarah I felt all of the validation I so desperately needed during this time. I would recommend working with A.G. for any aftercare needs. Although we miss our boy so much, we feel peace knowing he was taken care of and that he's back home with us, so beautifully.

During a very difficult time mourning my 17 year old Persian, Ike’s, passing, I received the most beautiful, professionally crafted urn in a gorgeous cherrywood box, along with an engraved nameplate and a space for a treasured photo. This was all wrapped up in a lovely blue velvet tied bag, complete with a cremation certificate in a beautiful envelope and seal. All contents were placed in a gorgeous blue gift bag. I immediately placed a favorite picture of him on the urn’s face and it took a place of honor on my newly installed shelving unit. Thank you so much for your wonderful and classy service for an exceptional cat. I am forever grateful!

I took my beloved parrot, Harley, here a few years ago. They respected my sorrow at my Harley’s passing and gave me all of the time I needed to make my decisions for Harley that day.I highly recommend them!

Unfortunately lost my pup of 10+ years a few weeks ago, this company handled her cremation. I was such a mess when setting everything up I forgot to ask for a paw or nose print, but this company included the most beautiful paw print imprint with her name engraved. I am so grateful for this, it has brought me a bit of peace while dealing with this hard loss. Also, my package was lost in transit (usps issue) but they were great at communicating and assisting me with this. Thank you for your help.

My husband and I would like to thank your establishment for the best memorial for our King Bentley. It was just perfect for our dog. Thank you for treating him with the dignity and respect that he deserved. He was truly the best dog that we could have asked for. We miss you so much Bentley and we will forever love you❤️😢

Words cannot describe how thankful I am for Pet memorial services. Our Sasha was gone so suddenly from us and we didn't have time to process her death at the vet's, we felt we had too short of a time with her before we had to leave and we were in so much pain over the loss. My mother wanted to see her one last time before she was cremated and our vet told us that she would be taken here. We talked to Lisa on the phone to schedule a day to come in, at first I wasn't sure how to feel, I wasn't ready to go through the pain again but, wow..we got there and there was our baby, she looked as though she was sleeping, her face was so serene and peaceful it truly eased our pain. We got to sit and hold her for 1.5 hours, we got the closure we needed and at the end we got to see her being carefully put in to get cremated. At the end, instead of pain and guilt, we finally felt at peace. I would recommend them to any and all who love their pets. I am so glad I went. They truly do it right. Thank you for giving us closure with our sweet baby girl, thank you to the compassionate staff and thank you for handling our baby with care.

Abbey Glen always does such a nice job with their services. I’m so glad my Veterinarian uses them for aftercare. I love the engraved name plate for the box my cats ashes are in as well as the casted footprint that was included. All my cats went through Abbey Glen and I couldn’t be happier with their services in such a difficult time.

Pet Memorial Services helped make the most difficult moments of my life a little more manageable. My best friend passed away suddenly in December of 2017. I knew I wanted to do a witnessed cremation, but could not find a place nearby that I felt confident in. I reached out to a friend who is a vet, and she shared the name of Pet Memorial Services, which is about two hours from my home. I wanted to be with my girl the entire time, and to be certain that I received her ashes, and I am so, so glad that I went with Pet Memorial Services, because I was able to have that assurance. The kind staff at Pet Memorial Services treated my girl with so much respect - and they were so gentle. We did a private witnessed cremation, and we had time to say goodbye to her in a beautiful, private room before the cremation. We were able to watch the door to the crematorium the entire time through a window, and there was a separate connected room with comfortable furniture. My husband, sister, and parents came with me, and we were all able to sit comfortably while we waited. I stayed by the window the entire time, and while it was incredibly difficult and heartbreaking, I can truly say given the circumstances, it was the absolute best scenario (even better than I expected). My beloved girl came home with me that day. My other special dog passed away unexpectedly just eight months later, and I was so thankful that we knew to call Pet Memorial Services. We brought her there and said our goodbyes, and we were so thankful that she was treated with respect, dignity, and care. Being able to witness the cremation of my girls has given me so much closure during such difficult times. My pets mean the world to me, and I am so glad that our goodbyes to them were handle with such love and care. The staff at Pet Memorial Services is wonderful and it is clear that they genuinely care about animals, too. Thank you for making the two most difficult times of my life a little easier.

You all took care of my dog Oscar recently. My vet is Walbert Animal Hospital in Allentown. I am so pleased and touched by the care you took with him. I treasure the ceramic paw print. The wooden box is beautiful. Oscar almost made it to 20! He had a good run and was much loved. Thank you.

Do not use this absolute horrible place. They make you believe you get YOUR pets ashes and paw print but in the case of my daughter, she got the paw print of a different cat so about 100% certain also not her cats ashes but somebody else's. we had 6 animals supposedly cremated by them before but now have little faith they are actually ours.Unfortunately we lost another pet recently and i can guarantee you pet memorial services did not get their incompetent hands on that baby. I understand all pet crematorium can tell you whatever they want to make you feel good, no way you can prove what ashes you have, but when it comes down to a paw print, and specifically of a cat with an extra toe on each paw, then it is easily recognizable that it is not the paw print of your baby. he did not miraculously go from huge 5 toed paws to tiny 4 toed paws. My daughter now has to deal with the face that besides losing Ace, she has nothing left of him but pictures, no ashes, no paw print. The facility manager then replies to her review saying he is sorry their service was not up to her expectation and he would like to learn more about it, Really? We have been emailing up and down for days and the last they said their services were up to their standards. Really now, what do you guys do, collect mourning pet owners money, buy steaks, have a nice barbecue and put some ashes in a bag to give back? Stay away from them unless you want to be fooled.

My cat passed away on 12/24/23, Abbey Glen did such a wonderful job, I received my baby’s ashes in a beautiful box along with a card, and bag. I highly recommend Abbey Glen ❤️

This was a very difficult time for my husband and I. We loss our pet of 15 1/2 years. He was in total kidney failure; so we made the decision that no pet parent wants to make. He transitioned over the rainbow on 11/4/2019. We were able to order the paw print keepsake necklaces that we wear everyday and it has helped us tremendously to know we walk with him everyday. Thanks for the great selections , expeditious service and professionalism.

My cat was 18 years old , I adopted her when she was 6 and she spent the last 12 years by my side . She got sick with a thyroid issue so I took care of her for almost her last 2 years . She passed away in my home and the family was devastated . I took her to her vet and they sent her to Pet Memorials. She came back to us 6 days later . Im still heartbroken , crying everyday since this happened . It’s a nightmare , but im glad she’s back home where she was always happy . The service did an excellent job with the situation . I just think I won’t ever get over this loss in my life . I love you Shadow, you are the best cat I ever owned . I will see you on the other side . Love Daddy .

Couldn't be happier with the services provided. The cherry colored box was beautiful and I really appreciated the name plate with our cats name on it. It was really comforting to know that my cat was treated with dignity and respect during this very difficult time.

In this sad situation of losing our loved pet, the staff made my kids and I feel extremely comforted when we dropped off our pet. Our pet passed sudden and was our first passing of a pet so it was extremely hard for me as a mother and parent. Once I called around a few places, this pet memorial service made me feel comfortable on the phone despite my pouring tears and cracking voice. When I got there, they gave me as much time with my dog as I needed and walked through the steps at my pace. It was a good experience under the circumstances and I appreciate everything that they done. They also gave me support material that was extremely nice and helpful to understand the grieving process.

We lost our boy Merlin far to soon. My heart and my families hearts are a complete wreck. But I can't say enough about the staff here and how they treated us through the entire process. Samantha was unbelievable she sat through hrs of our stories during our little ceremony eventhough, we know she must have had work to do. The amount of love and empathy we received from the staff during that difficult day was very appreciated and honestly unexpected. I can't say enough about how grateful I am for Samantha and the entire staff. Thank you for treating us and our boy with such love.

Loosing a piece of your family is the hardest thing you could ever go through. Because of Pet Memorial Services, they made this process as easy as it could be for me during my time of grieving. We got our sweet Tootsie back today, her and her urn came back to me in a beautiful velvet bag to keep her safe. The workers here has to have the biggest hearts in the world. Thank you for making the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, as smooth as possibly. Thank you for taking care of my sweet girl.
Beth
Our sweet baby girl came home today. She was beautifully cared for by Pet Memorial Services. She came home in a beautiful urn within a most beautiful velvet bag along with a card of sympathy. The follow through was much appreciated and heartfelt.Thank you for your service.

They left the ashes as calcified bones instead of grinding it down, so ive got little green and pink crystals in my kitties ashes<3 i really like that

Pet Memorial Services were wonderful When I dropped off and picked up my cat this week. The building is warm and welcoming. Stacey was kind and caring - which was most appreciated. I really like the option of being able to take my pet directly there. - rather than dropping him off at the vet's office.
Sammi Burke
Let me preface this by saying the customer service team was great and Sam got me all taken care of this morning so thank you to Sam!Unfortunately I had to drop a few stars on my rating as after having my sweet pup cremated and receiving his ashes I discovered his name was misspelled on the name plate that was sent. All the other documents were correct so it seems like this was a quality control issue, but still kind of a punch in the gut to receive the beautiful urn and then find that no care was given to ensure that his name was printed correctly 😔Hopefully this hasn’t happened to anyone else but I would encourage the management team to perhaps check their quality control procedures. I wouldn’t want another pet parent to have the same experience.

The staffing was phenomenal, very polite and sympathetic. I lost my 1 year old Tigger boy on 10/28/21, I called pet memorial on 10/29 to let them know that I wanted an ink paw print because I was supposed to get a tattoo of all of my cats paws, but unfortunately we lost Tigger a lot sooner than we had ever thought. The lady I spoke with reassured me they would be done properly especially since they’re for a tattoo. I got my baby back 11/4, everything was great until I looked at the ink prints.. I was so heart broken when I looked through all of them to find that they’re not clear and look rushed. Whoever dealt with the prints, I wish they would’ve taken it a little more seriously because we don’t get to ask for a redo.. these ink prints are sentimental to us, think of it as if it were you receiving them.. Besides that, this place is wonderful.

The nicest/helpful people. When my first/childhood dog needed to be cremated they were extremely caring through the process with the vet. Now going through it with my second dog, I knew who to take him to. They made it easier once again. I can’t thank them enough for their compassion. The clay paw prints and the urns with the name plates are the most beautiful gift someone could have of their beloved pet. Thankyou for taking care of my babies.

Gracie,a female Jack Russell, was cremated at Pet Memorial Svcs on 10/15 21, referred by Gettysburg Vet clinic. Thank you all helping in the loss my dear friend of 12 1/2 years..My review is a bit dated due to pain of loss. The pain may lessen with passing time. We have ashes in the labeled box in living room. We lost our big guy last week. Cremation was planned through our vet. Not knowing what to expect we picked Taz up yesterday, beautiful is all that we could say. The box, his perfect print...it made us feel better knowing he was handled and cared for in such a compassionate, dignified way. Thank you for making this part of the journey a bit easier!

This place used to be the best. If there was a zero rating that's what it deserves. I had 2 kitties cremated here and management was very compassionate. In the last 9 months it appears they have new management. I wanted to take a 3rd kitty there this past week and their prices have tripled. I vehemently advise against taking your precious pets here. The compassion is gone and the almighty dollar is first and foremost.

Losing a beloved pet is so very hard & it seems that no matter what you do to alleviate your heartbreak, nothing helps much. I am glad to say that Pet Memorial Services do all they can to help through a most horrid, bleak time & is there to help remember your pet in the most wonderful & not exorbitantly priced ways. We'd used them before but today had to make arrangements for a very dear pet & I cannot say enough good about them. They answered my questions honestly & were very helpful in making decisions as to how I will memorialize my dear pet. I like that they do not rush you & offer their help in every step of the way. I've used other places for cremations & pet memorials & was not impressed. I can assure you that I will continue to keep coming back to Pet Memorial Services as the needs arise because of their caring, thoughtful & helpful ways. I am glad my vet's office introduced me to this business, but even if they change to another pet cremation service, I'll stay with these wonderful people. A special thanks should be given to Matt for being so helpful. Thanks Pet Memorial Services for helping me through a most decidedly dark time.

Our emergency vet in Maryland sent our lovely boy Dingo to Pet Memorial Services for his cremation. Dingo came home a week later. I had forgotten to ask for a paw print. My heart overflowed when we got a paw print returned with his gorgeous box and name plate. Thank you for caring for our precious boy.

Very grateful for Pet Memorial Services with the passing of my dog Nemo. That morning was very rough, us not knowing what to do until we called Pet Memorial. We called in, came over, and were greeted with compassion. The process was extremely simple, which was great because we were grieving. I received Nemo’s ashes and pawprint a few days later and they were beautifully done. Not as expensive as I thought it’d be either. Excellent place that I’d recommend to others.

I am most grateful for Pet Memorial Services for providing professional memorial service of our cherished pets. I lost my beloved parrot "Skylar", though gone forever I have a beautiful photo urn with his ashes that does comfort me in his absence. Thank you Paul..I highly recommend Pet Memorial Services for all who have suffered such a loss.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for these folks. When my beloved Oliver James passed away suddenly on 12/15/17, my vet sent Ollie to Pet Memorial. I was told they would do his hand print in clay before cremating him but they went out of their way to make the most beautiful tail print I could ever imagine. They captured one of my sweet boy's most prominent features perfectly in clay. If you have the unfortunate occasion to use pet cremation services, these people will honor your beloved pet in a touching and heartfelt manner with great dignity for the life lost and the ones who loved them who were left behind.

Someone from the company reached out to me to remediate the problem. Recognizing that they could do nothing about the pawprint I received. They offered me another item from their collection, which turned out nicely. Thank you.My childhood cat and the cat who was with me for over half my life recently passed. I just got his remains back, and despite the picture box being nice, and the card is somewhat sentimental, the paw print made me more upset than I imagined I would be getting his remains back. The paw print looks as if someone jammed his paw roughly into clay, and made no effort to make it look clean. You can barely tell what it is. It’s very upsetting. VERY. Not pleased at all. I’m disgusted by reading everyone else reviews about their beautiful prints they got back but mine must of not been as important or cared for as the rest. There are no words
Britt Mcnair
Wish I would’ve read some of the reviews and opted for my pet to go somewhere else unorganized and wrong information all across the board. Now it’s too late and what was done with my pets ashes WAS NOT THE AGREEMENT. Don’t trust them with your pets and believe the bad reviews. They caused a nervous breakdown through my home I will NEVER be the same.

My wife and I have trusted Pet Memorial Services to handle our Min Pin family over the years. Spike in 2008, Rusty our foster in 2012,Pippin in 2017, Jack in 2019 and our beloved Jinx who left us on January 10th of 2020. Very respectful and caring people and we are grateful for them being there in our time of need. A special thank you to Stacey for going above and beyond!

Thanks for getting our beautiful girl back to us so quickly . The paw print was amazing we will cherish it forever.

Had my furbaby cremated on May 13th, 2020. The service was so comforting with the updates and calls to let me know the process. When I got my Tynkerbelle back on Monday the items were beautiful. I can't say enough good things about them. Thank you
Stacy Harzarik
Staff was super friendly and helpful through the process. The urn we chose was beautiful and I got an ink and ceramic paw print too; both turned out wonderful. Highly recommend this caring company!

I had a really great experience here, after my mastiff and kitten passed the same day. I really needed their ashes to come back perfectly. They did a really good job, they made things less painful with their excellent service.

Eric Schollmeyer

They left the ashes as calcified bones instead of grinding it down, so ive got little green and pink crystals in my kitties ashes<3 i really like that
Madlyn Powell
Gabriella Cooper
Stacey and her team were kind, compassionate and took care of every issue that arrived. They took care of everything from start to finish. I will forever be grateful ♡♡

I lost my cat and I was devastated but pet memorial was so extremely friendly and accommodating their service was amazing the place was peaceful I have nothing but good things to say about them

We weren't expecting all that we received. We were emotional at the vet. I knew we paid for some memorial services, but we didn't expect what we got. It was a pleasant surprise.

They misspelled the urn plate which makes me nervous that my pet wasn’t handled with care either. If you are able, go to the location to make sure everything is handled correctly.

This helps . Thanks again for a job well done .
