Customer Reviews Summary
Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home is highly praised for its compassionate and professional service during difficult times. Many reviews highlight the staff's kindness, attention to detail, and the ease of handling arrangements, even from a distance. However, there are significant concerns regarding their policies on flower arrangements and some negative experiences related to communication and service execution.

The people at Jefferson Memorial were the absolute best! We have about a 1200 mile distance between us, so we had concerns about how to accomplish all the details. Each person i spoke with assured me that all arrangements could be handled electronically. ... and everything was, with no hiccups at all. All of our questions were answered and explained thoroughly and with utmost respect for what we were going through. The whole process was handled professionally, respectfully and delicately. We appreciate your kindness.

I canβt say enough good things about Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. I called within 24 hours of loosing my twins at 15 weeks 5 days gestation. My hospital stay was awful and lots of hoops at the hospital. They were flexible and covered the funeral due to my pregnancy loss at no cost except the urn. We were surprised when we got there to pick them up the names of Mila and Maverick were on the screen, playing with soft music, and funeral cards. Hopefully we wonβt need them again for a long time. But we will use them when needed in the future. They even have checked on me postpartum and had little gifts for the kids. Thank you guys so much. As a doula in training Iβll recommend you guys

Excellent car show, very nice people working the event. I think my family that is at this cemetery probably enjoyed all the cars and people for the day, it doesnβt always have to be quiet and peaceful.

The staff at this facility is amazing. From the very time of our loved ones death to her interment, we as family were handled with dignity and respect. Her wishes were honored specifically directed. Our director, Cheyenne could not have been more professional, caring and loving towards our family and our needs during a difficult time. I was absolutely so very happy that nothing was neglected being addressed. We didnβt have to be stressed by any details of the arrangements. Cheyenne handled it all beautifully. Thanks to Olivia for reaching out to us a week after the intermittent to make sure we were all OK. My sincere compliments to this facility for making a very difficult difficult time so much easier. β€οΈ

My husband passed away in April 2024. All of the funeral arrangements were made with Jefferson Memorial Park. I felt like I was the only person who had ever buried a spouse. Jefferson Memorial employees treated me like I was the only person in the world who needed help and guidance. The treatment my family and I received was unbelievably wonderful. My family was treated with such respect, Jefferson Memorial employees truly care for their customers at such a difficult time. They check on me still to this day to make sure that I am okay as I go through this grieving process.I highly recommend Jefferson Memorial Park to everyone that I know. Jefferson memorial Park took care of every single detail of the funeral that you could possibly think of. I will never be able to thank them enough for their caring and understanding towards me and my family.

I'm late in posting this review, but my family & I want to recognize Funeral Director Cheyanne and Kerri D. for all of their assistance in planning and conducting our mother's funeral service in February, 2024. Their compassion, caring & understanding helped to make a difficult time in our lives easier. Also, thanks to all the behind the scenes staff at Jefferson Funeral Home and Cemetery.

After review of Jefferson Memorials Response to my initial postβ¦.It is clearly evident from the response that Jefferson Memorial is discouraging people from utilizing artificial flowers to honor their loved ones so that Jefferson can promote their own βFlower Placement Program.β Unfortunately, they continue to take advantage at a time of grief rather than improving existing policies to be sympathetic and equal for everyone.Jefferson Memorial owners did not provide adequate rationale as to why artificial flowers are removed and destroyed from mausoleums according to their existing policies while fresh flowers go untouched and are at times not even removed after they are dead. There seems to be no other rationale other than Jefferson pushing their own Flower Placement Program while discouraging other forms of honoring a loved one.

When my husband died suddenly, my heart was completely broken. Jefferson Memorial made my tragic situation a little easier to bare. All my wishes were fulfilled in planning his viewing and burial. A beautiful Blessing service, a heartfelt burial and all the guests received a warm and compassionate welcome from the staff to all those who came to pay their last respects. Funeral Director Angela was kind and patient with me as we planned all the details. She was there EVERY step of the way for this painful journey. I will be forever grateful to her and hrr staff for the services they provided. My husband would have planned it exactly the way he had wanted. His memory will be remembered gently in his last days on this earth. I was Blessed to have such support, love, and understanding.

I've been coming to the car show held here for several years. It's so peaceful; participants and spectators are respectful of their surroundings. It's not an all-day show (3 hours) and you get up close and personal to some truly beautifully maintained classic cars. For me the bonus is you can take a really great walk and get some exercise. I also got a history lesson at the Jefferson mausoleum. I look forward to this event every year. Please keep it going!

I was in the cemetery on Sunday, August 13, 2023 to clean my parentβs grave marker. As I drove up the the cemetery I saw signs for a car show. I have never been to a car show before, so I parked close to the event and proceeded to the first few cars. I saw the most amazing cars I have ever witnessed. There were several folks working at the event that normally worked at Jefferson Memorial. I was able to ask the them some questions about the rules they have at the cemetery. When I had placed a wreath on the grave site I noticed there were no other wreaths on the site. Instead of a bunch of various wreaths on the grave markers, there were vases with on the website. As I walked through the cemetery I noticed gardenβs in various locations with signs saying ct

Would highly recommend Jefferson Funeral Home for your needs. Every person we have had contact with have helped and gave advise throughout, and continue to do so even after the service and burial. With Dad gone and Mom hospitalized, I couldn't have asked for better people to help us during our time of loss. Thank you, again.

This place should have NEGATIVE STARS!! Such a poorly run business . They have absolutely no empathy for people! I make up the flowers for the crypt wall for my family. I buy all the flowers and arrange them to look very beautiful. These are not inexpensive flowers. Iβve gotten a lot of compliments and had requests to make them for others. They have a stupid rule on flowers. Thereβs dates listed telling you the artificial arrangements will be removed. With our work schedules itβs sometimes difficult to get them down in time. I canβt tell you how many I have lost because Jefferson Cemetery does NOT care. Live arrangements can be up and dead and they donβt take them down. Iβve seen that. Late last night I realized the flowers come down May 1 ( today) . In a panic, early this morning I went there to get them but nope, they were thrown away already!!! Seriously if you give a date why canβt you give a grace period of at least one day before you toss them to the trash. They must start taking them off at 12:01 a.m. . I NEVER recommend this cemetery to anyone. Such cold hearted individuals!

I have my paternal and maternal grandparents, plus a maternal aunt buried here very recently. I recently contacted Peter about a virtual visit, as I live near Las Vegas, NV and I cannot readily visit. He was gracious enough to send one of his assistants to find, photograph, and email the pictures of my loved ones graves/plaques. I cannot express the gratitude and appreciation I have for such compassion. ...I am beyond words. This is truly a special place.

Everyone was so kind, gentle and comforting to our family when we needed it the most. We felt loved and cared for by each person from every phone call to every visit. Everything was exactly what we asked for and our loved one was certainly in the best care. Thank you for all of the compassion and love to our family.

Going through such a terrible time in my life, it was a comfort having the support and caring of the people at Jefferson Memorial. Kadi was so kindhearted and guided me through the whole process. She and Olivia reached out to me numerous times weeks later, to ensure that I was fine and if they could help with anything. I canβt say enough about how much it meant to me.

Jefferson funeral home and mosoleum, the staff was very compassionate and very caring throughout our entire nightmare, the service at the chapel was very beautiful. The short service at the mosoleum was just as beautiful, I myself was very lucky to have been able to purchase a tomb next to my fiancΓ©.

I honestly wish I could give less than 1 star. I have been taking flowers to loved ones at Jefferson Cemetery since I was a little kid. They have some new flower rules which I do not understand. I have always taken fresh cut flowers, but am tired of spending a lot of money on beautiful flowers to fill the vase, just to feed the deer. If you go to the cemetery the day after you put flowers in your loved ones vase, all that is left are stems. So, I placed artificial flowers in the vase. For many years, I have seen many artificial flowers at many peopleβs markers and am guessing it is due to the high deer population. I expected my flowers to be in the vase until I decided to pull them out. We stopped at the cemetery this past weekend, and I could not believe that workers had thrown away my artificial flowers!! I called the office today and was told flowers are thrown away a week after a holiday. Hello?? I do not just take flowers for holidays! Itβs summertime and flowers should be in the vases! There was absolutely no need to dispose of my flowers. I was supposedly transferred to Matt, but do not know since there wasnβt a voicemail and just a beep. Although I left a voicemail, I highly doubt I will receive a call back. It saddens me that I canβt place flowers on my parents grave and know that they will be there for more than 1 day.

The only areas that look nice are the ones you can see from the road. Every year I complain how horrible my mother and fathers grave is. I am told it will be take care of but its not. My grandmother is buried in the Garden of Good Shepherd section 10. The steps are covered in leaves and broken branches. The branches from the trees over hang so low that you have to duck or push them away till you get through. Once again, I have complained numerous times and it's still not taken care of. Please think twice before you bury your loved ones here. The grounds keepers are heartless. I had to give it 1 star because there wasn't a zero. There were no online insults only the truth. I was at the cemetery yesterday, October 8th. I put flowers on my parents grave July 26th. and they were still on. The grass has not been cut since July??? That is ridiculous. The grass was getting cut across the street though. It's not fair. I would like to know how you pick and choose what areas get cut. If already know, the areas that you can see from the road. Very sad.

On Monday, we buried my mother after she lost her 7 year battle with lung cancer. Last Friday we met with Kira the director, and she was kind and compassionate as she went over everything with us. They did a great job with my mother, she looked beautiful. Her viewing on Sunday went well and the staff was very helpful with getting us an extra photo board and getting the tv set up for our photo slide show. Then Monday came along, everything was going well, we had a wonderful service. The other pallbearers and I escorted my mother out of the chapel, then the director and other staff escorted my mom's casket to the van, which we assumed would be waiting for us to lead the procession. In an instant the director disappeared and so did the van with my mom. We all gathered outside unsure of what to do or what was going on, then Kira appears at the far end of the parking lot that leads to the cemetery, in a car, waving us on to follow her. We all rush to our vehicles, trying to order ourselves. We rush through the cemetery trying to keep up with Kira. As we turn onto the road where my mom's grave was located I couldn't believe my eyes. My mother's casket was already there on the gravesite. They also had the gravediggers, who were covered in dirt, directing the procession to park. I didn't say anything to Kira then, because I didn't want to yell at my mother's grave. After we said our last goodbyes, we went to a luncheon, my stepfather returned back to the funeral home to receive the flowers, pictures, etc. He stopped back at the grave before he left. There was a cross pillow with two roses that my stepfather got for my mom. He wanted it placed on top of her casket during the service, and remaining on top of the casket when it was placed in the ground. When he returned he found the workers just about ready to seal the vault, with all the flowers we had placed on the casket, as well as the cross, lying in a big heap next to the grave. He confronted a worker and told him the cross was to remain on the casket, so the worker, who responded rather rudely, grabbed the cross and threw it back in haphazardly, and it now lays on the side of the casket, not the center like we wanted it. Our minister who performed the service told me that Kira was constantly motioning her to speed things up during the part of the service where we let anyone go up to say a few words. My minister ignored her and gave everyone willing a chance to speak.I understand that our service may have took long, but we were never given a time limit. Kira, you could have communicated with us better. I understand you were in a rush, but you robbed me, my siblings, my stepfather, and a few of my cousins (who were all pallbearers) of escorting my mother to her final resting place. I know this won't change what happened to us, but I hope it changes things for people who use Jefferson in the future. Your business has become just that, a business. My family has used Jefferson for many years, Jefferson was what my mother wanted. But seeing now what it has become, I will not be using or reccomending your services in the future. I hope this will teach you a lesson in humility and that this will never happen to anyone else.

A car show!!!??? Really! I have many family members buried there. South Park is literally 5 minutes away. Have your charity event there. Do you sell the items that you remove from the grave sites at your Chinese auction? How many guys snuck behind a tree to pee because they didnβt feel like finding a bathroom at your car show? You are disgusting and you charge so much for a plot that you can donate some of that money out of your own pocket! Oh and considering βcemeteryβ is the name of your βparkβ you should learn how to spell it!

The funeral home is very pretty. They have a small room downstairs that is the play room for children. I thought this was a nice idea and great for families with small kids even though there isn't a lot of toys in the room or descent toys. Majority of the staff were extremely nice except there is one employee that is rather rude and comes off being pretencious. He is thin, dark hair man with a mustache. My husband and I remembered him from his mom's funeral a few years ago and he was still the same way at my father in laws funeral. We felt this was sad that an employee would be rude despite all the dynamics that come along with mourning a loved one. We now live out of town and again the funeral home is very pretty, however if I lived in Pittsburgh, I would probably look at my options before choosing a final place for my family.

I have interacted with the staff of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on several occasions and have found them to be professional, helpful, and eager to serve their community.

A member of my husband's family pre-paid for her funeral expenses as she was losing a long, drawn-out battle with cancer. When one of my family members attempted to make arrangements on the day she passed away, she was told they were too busy and to come back at another time. I will say that I was not present for this interaction, so it may have been simply "come back tomorrow" but it may also have been "come back Monday" (from a Friday or Saturday). Whatever the case, I find this unacceptable. With a pre-planned funeral, it seems like the only urgent details to settle right away should be times and dates, which should not take long enough that a place that big should ever be "too busy" to sit down and look at a calendar with a family member. Furthermore, as my family arrived for the visitation on Tuesday evening, details of the funeral service for the next day could not be confirmed and paperwork could not be located. The staff repeatedly stated that they were "the night shift" and had no idea where anything was, what arrangements had been made or what had been communicated to the church regarding the service the next morning. Several phone calls by the staff to the "day shift" failed to produce answers in any acceptable amount of time. This frustrated and upset several of my grieving family members who just wanted to confirm the details of the service to ensure that everything went smoothly for the bereaved immediate family members. I've never been to a visitation where an informed member of staff or the funeral director him/herself was not present to answer questions and iron out last-minute logistics. After all, a funeral is basically an exercise in last-minute logistics! In my opinion, the proper response to any question you don't know the answer to from a grieving family should be a kind and gentle "I'm not sure but let me find out for you", but this was not at all what my family experienced. Overall, my family and I felt that there was less attention to detail and much less responsiveness to concerns than with previous experiences elsewhere. I don't know if it was because the staff is not close-knit or family run, or perhaps because they communicate poorly between shifts, or if it was because they already had their money and didn't feel that compassion or attention to detail was particularly necessary, or if it was just a bad day for everyone on "night shift", but in any case, I will not be recommending this business to any family or friends in the future.

Made one of the hardest times in our lives a little bit easier. Guided us thru every step and couldnt have been more thoughtful or caring. They even added some special touches that were so meaningful to us. A very heartfelt thank you to all of the staff.

Think twice about this place. The building is beautiful but things about your funeral do not go as planned but they take your money fast enough. When they showed me my daughter for the first and last time before they sent her to the crematory ...... she looked awful and not much like herself. The funeral home had glued her month crooked and glue was all over her eye lids and her face was black and blue and look disfigured. They piled some kind of refrigerator blankets on her and she looked packed like a frozen fish. She was still in the MEdical Examiners gown and did not even fit on the table they had her lying on. It was a horrible scene and My oldest daughter lost it and I had to her out of there screaming βit doesnβt look like herβI couldnβt sleep all night ..... I could not let Marley leave this earth not looking like herself. I called the funeral home and said I was coming back with a gown I wanted her to wear. I told them to undo that glue and get what glue they could off her face. When I got there they applied a thick carelessly placed unnatural pancake makeup on her face. I actually wiped some of it off .... she was only 28 years old for god sakes ... not 80!!!! I put my daughters makeup on ... did her signature eyeliner as best I could, put her big hoop silver earring she always wore in her ears..... all the while having to stop occasionally to wipe the tears to see what I was doing. Finally I put her sunglasses on top of her head like she always wore them .... spray her with the perfume from her purse and kissed her I donβt know how many times and whispered in her ear that I could let her go now.Her funeral a few days later was no better ... they WERE by our arrangements to put us in viewing room for a few hours for visitors then have a ceremony in the chapel ... when we arrived they had us setup in the chapel ..... no viewing time ... we were the only funeral that day ... I guess they wanted their blood money and closeup for the day.... oh and the minister they dug up was aweful ... we were stuck with him because they lied about the day they were sending her to the crematory ... save yourself heartache ... go else where!!Oh the cemetery .... the caretakers with mowers constantly run over her grave ripping up the lawn and leave a trail of mud and equipment tracks over grave. When I complained they said they would fix it. Weeks later they did not. Called again and women who answers the phone said theyβll get to it their groundskeepers do it all the time!!!!! FYI ... it was Never corrected ... I pulled the mud off and reseeded the grave myself!

My husband passed away suddenly and Jefferson Memorial was there for my family. They were very supportive and understanding. I would totally recommend them. Can't say enough about how they helped us out
Mark Barber
They admittedly made a mistake on our aunt's death certificate by putting the wrong social security number they said it was human error on their part it cost us almost $1,000 an additional lawyer fees and time they refuse to take any responsibility for it other than to say it was human error. I can see why the other reviews are bad. It's one thing to make a mistake it's also one thing to own up to your mistake and not just say it was human error and make the other people pay for something that you caused! The manager did not even offer me any monetary compensation for our costs they said we've already paid for the additional death certificates which they should have because it was their fault in the first place! What a horribly run place nobody takes responsibility for any other mistakes I don't know how you can stay in business doing this.

Buried our dog in their new pet cemetery back in 2009 and received a letter from them last week stating they REMOVED our dog's stone marker and we were given 30 days to pick it up. They said the size is no longer requirement size after 10 almost 11 years later and are trying to force us into buying a new one. Pretty sure its ILLEGAL to remove someone's stone/property w/o written consent and possibly a felony. These people don't care about your beloved family member or pet, they just want to upsell you something and make money off of you. What they did to us and our pet was extremely hurtful and disrespectful and I would NOT recommend them. Please use caution when using these people for your burial needs!

Unbelievable experience! There was a mix up between the funeral home we choose and this cemetery. Our aunt purchased from Jefferson, a site, and vault in 1976. The funeral home sold us another vault, as they said that Jefferson never told them she had already purchased a vault. Jefferson says they told them. Now Jefferson says we can use the original amount , less interest accumulated, 44yrs, to purchase a one of their markers. Or loose the deposit. The mistake was never ours, and they offer no recourse for us. My suggestion was to work it out between the two parties, but neither are willing to budge. Not a way to make a happy customer. I could go on. But Iβm so disappointed in both parties attitude. Neither will ever get my attention again.Oh yes, Iβve talked to both owners.

Disgraceful and lack of respect for families love ones who have passed and their property they paid for!!! Went to visit a family member today and found tractor tracks running directly over headstones and mowing down Christmas wreaths all over the lower end of the cemetery.
charlotte
This place is a final resting area for our loved ones, it is a rather expensive cemetery to be buried at and I feel the events they hold are not respectful to our deceased loved ones. Charities should be held somewhere else, not in the cemetery!
Michael Echard
A wonderful memorial, they went above and beyond for a beautiful remembrance.Kyra Mangold was the director of Paula's funeral, also Dave and Gary added special touches such as sand, sea shells, and nautical theme. Even had salt water taffy brought in overnighter for the services. Thank you- Echard family

Car shows and moved tombstones??? The owners should step in and take care of the employees and the way they represent the cemetery, the owners don't seem to care how their employees behave.

JMFH took great care of our mother from intake through inurnment. The facility is beautiful and we were led through the whole process with grace. Thank you Kayla, Kerri, and the rest of the staff!

Very sad.

The care, comfort and professionalism shown by Kadie Scafuro and Pete Johnson far exceeded our expectations. They were so easy to work with and empathetic toward my family throughout the process.

We were pleasantly surprised by the number of cars that showed up this year! It was a fabulous day, beautiful weather and great people! Already looking forward to next year!

The Funeral Director Angela Pinke was absolutely phenomenal. Extremely respectful. I could definitely feel her care and concern which was extremely surprising to me. Amazing person

Hold charity events at the funeral grounds. Completely disrespectful. They place headstones and then remove them years later claiming they have no knowledge of them being placed and they will need replaced. And then one of their grounds keeper has been threatening people all over local Facebook groups. His profile name is Mike Guntrum and he publicly wrote that he works at a cemetery and he wrote to someone that he would βtake care of them and bury them where they wouldnβt be foundβ. Guessing background checks arenβt a thing during your unemployment process.
