No one wants to have a funeral home they “recommend” but December of 2024 we lost our baby girl, Kinsley May and Geisel worked with us the whole way through. Making the hardest situation we have ever been through just a little easier. We worked hand in hand with Erika and she was so kind and generous with everything. She went above and beyond for us and we cannot thank her enough for all she has done for us in this horrible time. I would trust any loved one in their care and I recommend them to anyone and everyone in search of a truly compassionate company.

Growing up in Chambersburg, the Geisel family…was like family.When my father unexpectedly passed while on vacation, my first phone call was to them. They handled all the details of transporting, intimate family viewing and larger service seamlessly. What makes this bittersweet for me, my father was a craftsman and completed work at the funeral home. Anytime we go there for the passing of a loved one, I can see my father’s work at the front desk. Unfortunately, I experienced first hand through the loss of both of my parents the excellence of Geisel Funeral Home. My family has dealt with 2 generations of Geisels and the experiences were both great. The staff treated my family as their own family and not as a costumer. The funeral directors and president came to our family home and explained options for both my mother and father’s burial/services. They took time to walk us through every step of the way ensuring our wishes were met. My family and the Geisel’s remain great friends today. We were very grateful to have them handle my mother and father’s arrangements and they made the tough situations a little bit easier. I also am the football director for a Chambersburg Youth Football Organization here in Franklin county. Geisel Funeral Home has been a dedicated sponsor of our organization and Mr Tom Geisel (President of Geisel Funeral Home) even volunteers as coach for a flag football team. We had the privilege of working with Geisel Funeral Home for both of my husband's parents services. It is such a difficult time and you don't really think about needing this service....until you do. The professionals at Geisel are amazing and caring people who kindly usher you through the process of honoring your loved one. We highly recommend their services. We worked with Adam, Sharon and several others...all who are so competent and respectful. We are also so thankful that his parents had their arrangements made several years ago. What a gift it was to their children to eliminate additional stress, trying to make decisions under the worst circumstances. I would encourage everyone to give this gift to their loves ones.

I cannot say enough good things about our recent experience with the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home. They did an impeccable job last month when my father passed away. The entire staff exceeded our expectations:The gentlemen who came out to the house to retrieve Dad’s body the night he passed were respectful and professional.Chad was simply amazing and walked us through every step of the funeral planning process. He was able to kindly and professionally answer every question we asked him. No request we made of him was denied.Tommy phoned my mother from vacation the morning after my dad passed to offer his condolences and even offered to return from his vacation early so that he could be there for the family during Dad’s service. That deeply touched our family.Sharon F. and the front office staff were extremely helpful with the life insurance paperwork which helped to ease our stress during the week of the funeral.No detail was left untouched by the Geisel staff. We brought in boxes of pictures and mementos the day before the viewing and the staff tastefully arranged all the pictures, mementos, and flowers around the two rooms. It was perfect.At this point I should also mention how wonderfully healthy they made my dad look again. Their staff used just the right amount of makeup on him to make him look healthy and natural. This is no small feat. It’s a gift to be able to do this well.The night of Dad’s viewing the staff was courteous and flexible when the viewing started 30 minutes early and then lasted an hour longer than it was supposed to due to the number of people who came to pay their respects.The day of the funeral was a challenging day for the family but the kindness and professionalism we received from the Geisel staff helped to make an emotional day a little easier to bear. They coordinated with VFW Post 1599 so that my father could have the Honor Guard at his visitation and military honors at the cemetery.While the family was at the graveside service, Geisel’s staff quickly got the flower arrangements over to the funeral reception and set them up for the family.The day after the funeral was a Saturday and we were pleasantly surprised when both Chad and Tommy returned the boxes of pictures and mementos to my parents’ house. That’s just one example of how their staff will go above and beyond for you during what is the most difficult week of your life.They’re simply the best.

Very kind staff and did the best they could to make me feel comfortable dealing with fathers unexpected death.Only downside was when I went to gather my fathers belongings the bag that was handed to me was cold and clammy. I asked why and they said it was in there with him. The smell of the bag filled the room and instantly made me nauseous and confused to why the bag wasn’t put into a locker or something else. To just have your father pass away and receive a bag of his belongings smelling like a foul odor (body) did not help in any way. It’s been 2 years and it still sticks with me. Hopefully someone changed the way of doing things so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

They handled everything for my mom with the utmost kindness and respect. There was a small error made regarding the donation link on mom’s obituary page but they went above and beyond to make sure it was corrected and that we were happy. This is a family business and you can tell that they genuinely care about the people they are working with. I am so grateful for all their help and guidance through this difficult time.

Unprofessional, not very knowledgeable, and very disrespectful to family of the deceased. I wouldn’t recommend these small town nobodies for anyone’s funeral.

We are grateful for the care and compassion we received from Erika. Mom's passing was very unexpected and we were mentally unprepared and unfamiliar with the process. Erika was wonderful to work with.

Very kind staff and did the best they could to make me feel comfortable dealing with fathers unexpected death.Only downside was when I went to gather my fathers belongings the bag that was handed to me was cold and clammy. I asked why and they said it was in there with him. The smell of the bag filled the room and instantly made me nauseous and confused to why the bag wasn’t put into a locker or something else. To just have your father pass away and receive a bag of his belongings smelling like a foul odor (body) did not help in any way. It’s been 2 years and it still sticks with me. Hopefully someone changed the way of doing things so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
