Customer Reviews Summary
The reviews for Shapiro Funeral Home present a mixed picture. While many customers praise the compassionate service and professionalism of staff like Frank and Natalie, there are serious concerns regarding transparency and ethical practices, particularly highlighted by a traumatic experience involving mishandling of a body. Overall, the business has garnered both strong recommendations and significant criticism.

Does your funeral home director April normally become a witness on a will when the person has been diagnosed with dementia for over 2 years and still signs as a witness? I would like to know the answer to that. I would like to know why the owner of the funeral home has not responded. It's been over a month and just wondering if they know they're up to no good or why they've ignored my review. Kind of makes no sense. I would at least expect a response from them. I guess the owners don't care what their director does. I would never use this funeral home if I was you. They're shady and be glad you don't use them

Amazing experience despite the difficult times we went through. Frank was very kind and caring, supported us when our grandma died by providing advice and guidance, assisted in organizing a seamless funeral for our grandma in less than 24 hours. He’s always available over the phone and responds right away. Highly recommend this funeral home to anyone who wants their loved ones to be treated with dignity and who requires support when they are suffering a loss of a loved one.

We cannot THANK enough this place for WONDERFUL work they have done for our grandma!! We came to them from another funeral home, that was trying to take advantage of our situation and told us if we don't like something, we can take the body and go to a different place. So "Shapiro" had less than 24 hours to arrange the funeral. Not only they were NICE and SUPPORTING but they did everything according to JEWISH rituals, and we paid less!!! Thank you again!! I will recommend this place to the whole Jewish community!!!

A nightmare !!! What happened to me should never happen to anyone. If it was possible to post this with no stars I would have done that. I am the closest the deceased had to next of kin and had legal authority, as he outlived his loved ones. The deceased had a prepaid funeral contract with another funeral home. He was cared for in a facility at the end and they called Shapiro in error. Shapiro immediately came to take the body. I discovered this within hours, and the facility was extremely apologetic. When I called Shapiro tell him it was a mistake, he challenged my authority and said he had paperwork to prove he should have the body. He could have called the care center to confirm the mistake, but instead refused to release the body or provide the claimed paperwork even though I asked calmly. He told me to “get a life” and hung up on me!!! It was as traumatic as you can imagine. The next day I got an attorney to write him a letter and he finally released the body. His claim to paperwork was a lie. I see the positive reviews and can only let people know that something has gone very wrong with this man. He needs help and no longer should be in this business. Any kindness or compassion in his heart has been replaced with a willingness to strong arm people for money. A night and day contrast to the place the deceased actually chose. I wish all readers well-- no one should suffer the experience I had with Shapiro, especially a bereaved!!
