I can not describe in words how much I appreciate this place. They are so empathetic and wonderful⊠theyâve treated all of my pets like family and I canât express how kind they have been. One of my pets died while I was on vacation unexpectedly and they made sure my sweet girl was taken care of. Recently another passed and all the care and love was taken. I know they do an amazing job with actual humans but the fact they put just as much care in for my pets⊠itâs unreal. Thank you guys so much!!! The nose and paw prints along with the care you give the cremains, it is unreal.

We had to say goodbye to our 18 1/2 yr old furbaby and we wanted him to be taken care of with respect and gentleness. So we chose Clay-Barnette for private pet aquamation and we were very happy with their service. We took Pip there and Leanne held him in her arms like a baby and it gave me comfort knowing he was in good hands! His ashes were returned to us in a beautiful wooden box. We highly recommend Clay-Barnette, we loved our Pip so much and he deserved the very best care and he got it. â€ïž

My daughter & I are really thankful to Eric & his staff! Eric was a very nice gentleman helping us when Kitty Meow Meow passed away suddenly! He explained the whole process to us & we got our baby back in less than a week!

Very professional and gentle people. We decided to get our Corgi aquamated after a long battle with cancer, and LeAnn(?) was wonderful to us. I must have called and asked a billion questions, and she answered all of them, and when it was time, they made the process as easy as can be. Our baby's ashes were returned in a beautiful wooden box after about a week, and they even fulfilled a special request for both a nose print and paw print. Very thankful for the service they offer!

Eric and his staff were amazing. They made the experience as easy and simple as it could be during a very difficult time. The job that the did on my dad took all of the years of sickness away and gave our family a peace that we didnât know we could have after his passing. They have continued to care for my mom and my family even after the funeral making the paperwork and things needed to be taken care of less difficult. I would recommend Clay Barnett Funeral Home to anyone who is in need of these types of services. I can not thank Eric and his staff enough for their compassion and caring in our time of need.

Best place to take your Pets/(fur babies/family) for aquamation! They are very nice and sweet people especially Leanne and Eric as they are really the only 2 I have talked and got to know but all the staff there are friendly and very very caring and welcoming/comforting!!! I just had my 2nd family pet aquamated there and I WOULDNâT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! Leanne was so nice And she even held, talked, and comforted my 11 year old and I that was devastated by both losses of our fur babies(Brutus and Polly Pocket)!! Itâs $100 but itâs totally worth it and I will always use them to take care of my fur babies!!! Thanks Leanne and staff for everything and helping us through this process!!

I love Clay-Barnette. Each of my sweet furbabies that have passed on have been aquamated here. Leanne is so sweet and she takes such good care of all of our babies and I am so thankful they provide that service. This is THE place to go if you want to be sure your sweet babies are taken care of. †I appreciate everything you guys do and have done for us so far. Thank you.

Reason for visit: pre-need aquamationIf there was a way to give 10 stars, I would most definitely do so. My Daddy and I felt at ease from the moment we entered the funeral home. Eric was so personable and friendly. I had some knowledge of aquamation and had decided that I wanted to use this option for myself. My Daddy, on the other hand had never heard of this option for body disposition. I asked Eric to explain the process to my Daddy. He explained the entire process very thoroughly and even allowed us to see the aquamation machine. We did all the paperwork and we both opted for aquamation!!I am so glad we went to visit with Eric. He has such a passion for aquamation. He was such a pleasure to talk to and I am confident that when the time comes, he will handle our service with compassion and care.Thank you so much Eric!!

Clay -Barnette Funeral home is so much more than a business, itâs caring people that treat each and every family with upmost respect and care. I have dealt with them on many occasions , most recently with the death of mother in law . Eric and Noah came to pick her up and were so compassionate as we were all very upset , they let me know to take all the time we needed. Eric could see my father in-law was taking it badly and made sure he didnât have any questions before he left with her . The next day we met for arrangements he explained the aquamqtion process to us as it was very new for all of us , and gave us all options for different services. Linda loved birds and it was very important to us to release doves at her service and they arranged the most perfect person to come and perform that service , we could not have asked for anything more perfect. The entire experience was comforting and compassionate from start to finish and made saying goodbye to her a little bit easier . If you want a a caring , compassionate experience please look no further than the wonderful Staff at Clay- Barnette , I would never trust anyone else with my loved ones, that includes my precious pets when the time comes!

Iâve called a lot of places searching for a place that would make my grandmothers service exceptional. This place did just that! All the other places I contacted made me feel like my grandmother was just another transaction. She was so much more than that. When I spoke with Eric the funeral director I was sold right from the start. He was genuine and extremely patient. I loved that he explained the process every step of the way including providing a multitude of options. He coordinated and arrange everything for me and my family right from the start. My grandmother looked like a sleeping beauty and I couldnât be happier with the turnout and service I received. Although my grandmotherâs service wasnât held at this facility this was not by choice. We honored my grandmothers wishes by having a service where she wanted but I would have totally considered this place. The facility was beautiful.

FYI: After you drop the body off for aquamation, you may have to wait a few days before you can pick up the ashes.I lost my kitty last week and I wanted to have her aquamated because it's a more environmentally-friendly practice that I hope becomes more popular and accessible. You also get more of the ashes back than with cremation. For now, Clay-Barnette is one of <10 funeral homes in the Mid-Atlantic area that even offer this service. Our drop-off and pickup times were both on a Saturday, outside of regular business hours, but Eric made sure to accommodate me both times. They were willing to let me take my time with the body before giving her to the staff, though I chose not to. They wrapped her in a clean sheet and that was it for the drop-off. I didn't realize we'd have to wait a few days to pick up the ashes, but I suppose that makes sense, as it takes time for the aquamation process to occur. I just wished I'd known that in advance. They don't charge you until you arrive for pickup, so you don't have to worry about money and the initial grief simultaneously. For a 7.2 lb cat, an individual (not communal) aquamation was only $100. The ashes come in a plastic bag inside of a wooden box. The box is quite nice, and comes included with the aquamation at no extra charge. I like that they aren't trying to upsell people with overpriced urns, because the box they give you is already respectable. And because it's wooden, there's no need to worry about it breaking if it falls or during transportation. I drove 3.5 hours each way from Knoxville TWICE for drop-off and pickup and it was absolutely worth it.

When it comes to your pet that has crossed over the rainbow Bridge they truly treat it as you lost a family member. It's been a few months since I had my daisy Mae get aquamated but it was really nice how professional they were, and compassionate. Thank you!

Eric and the team at Clay-Barnette in Shelby, NC went above and beyond for my family in our time of need. They truly care and go out of their way to make a difficult time as comfortable as possible. Just wanted to say a huge âThank youâ from our family. As always, we couldnât have asked for a better experience or service for my mother-in-law, Dot. The level of comfort a family has, knowing their loved one is being taken care of respectively and receiving the best care possible, brings a peace of mind that only an expert in the field can bring, and for that, we will be forever grateful. Eric and the staff at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, will always hold a special place in our hearts.

When my sister passed away unexpectedly last week, I was at a loss of what to do as far as a funeral. Everything is so expensive and we werenât prepared whatsoever. My first thought was cremation but my sister didnât want that. Upon reading online I stumbled across aquamation, and the only place around here that does it. And to my utter shock, it was at the same price point as cremation. Eric was so helpful and knowledgeable and walked us through every step, doing his very best to accommodate our request to be able to see her before the aquamation. Eric is very professional while also being very personable and if anything about this process was easy, it was because of him. I canât recommend clay-barnette enough.

We lost our sweet dog, Ricky Bobby in 2016.He was a precious family member to us.The kindness and professional way his aquamation was handled will always mean a great deal to us.We highly recommend Clay Barnett for your pets. Iâve also decided to use them for my own aquamation at the end of my life.Rita Haynes

Eric was the best! My son passed away suddenly and I wanted to get him cremated with water not fire. Eric's funeral home was the only one nearby that performed Aquamation. Walked me through the entire process with compassion and respect. Even accommodate my request. Hands down the best in the Carolinas.
Justin Payseur
Eric was very professional and compassionate with us. We dealt with an unexpected death in the family and Eric was very helpful before and after with answering all of our questions. He accommodated every request we had even on the morning of the funeral. It felt like we were able to make decisions that made us comfortable and were never pushed one way or another.

Iâm so happy to have came across Clay-Barnett for my mothers passing. They are not only very professional and compassionate, but the only ones who offer aquamation as to traditional cremation. Eric not only helped make everything the way I had asked, he also took the saddest time and turned it positive. I would absolutely recommend this Funeral home

Clay-Barnette Funeral Home was a huge help with my family during one of the toughest times of our lives. They were excellent and professional from start to finish with my father's funeral and we cannot thank them enough. My family highly recommends them for your funeral needs.

I lost my first pet to cancer and the sadness I felt was much like loosing a favorite family member. My dog âChance â was a member of my family and Clay Barnett knew just that first hand. I had chance aquamated there and the folks was really caring and professional. Mr. Eric Bester and his crew was very kind to me

Clay Barnette Funeral Home has served our family in the passing of my parents and many other family members. Also several of my family members and friends have used their service for Pet Aquamation. They are the best around.

Canât say enough about the time & respect given to our family during the loss of our mother, wife, nanny & friend Dot Hollifield. Eric was so respectful, patient & very knowledgeable, it made a very hard time for us much easier & bearable. During a time like this, the guidance & care from the entire staff was appreciated more than I can convey here. Thanks to all of you at Clay-Barnettâs. Very appreciated!
Diann Sprusansky
Very disrespectful. While our family was visiting with friends and family Eric came into the room and told us it was time to go and this being after they proceeded to remove the flowers to go to the graveside services while we were still in the room. Also we were gathered at the front doors heading out and they rolled the casket out the front doors while family members were standing there. This was the most disrespectful experience at Clay Barnette that my family has ever experienced. It seemed like they were in a rush to get rid of us. It was like they had absolutely NO compassion.

Would love to be able to actually READ the obituary like all the other funeral homes. But when I pull up obituaries on your page, it won't let me view it. I can on all the other funeral homes so the problem has to be with your system. Open up your page so we can read it.
