Josh and his colleagues at Bates, Wallace and Heath funeral home are exceptional for the service they provide. They were responsive and continued to check in to make sure our needs are met during the loss of our loved one. They accommodated our requests and guided us through the process, professionally and with care. Even though we had preplanned, there were many questions Had some modifications to the planning. We couldn’t be more satisfied With our experience.

We had a wonderful experience at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home! It was a difficult time to go through, but they made each step extremely easy. Josh was helpful by providing us with many options for each part of the service so we were able to plan it exactly the way our Mom had envisioned it!! I would highly recommend this funeral home because they will treat you like family!!

They were extremely helpful through a very difficult time. My moms celebration of life was beautiful thanks to them. The photo video they created was amazing. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is dealing with a death in their family

I can't say enough about the genuine care and concern that comes from these amazing people! We dealt directly with Josh who gave us every bit of his time that we needed. He came directly to my home on a couple of occasions to drop off or pick up things of necessity because it made things easier for me. He called to check on me throughout this sad journey and he or his assistant still continue to check in now and then just to see how I am doing or if there's anything they can help with. This was only a small part of all the things he did for us. If Josh couldn't be with us during a part of the process he was very informative of when he would be there and who would be in his place until he arrived. I am so grateful to Josh and his staff in all they did for me and my family. I would've been completely lost without him.

Josh and his staff were extremely helpful when my father recently passed away. Everyone is compassionate, supportive and knowledgeable. Until our meeting with Josh, I felt overwhelmed and lost, after the meeting, while still reeling from my father's passing, I felt like I had a better grasp on next steps. Our community is fortunate to have such a wonderful resource available to us!

Not that anyone wants to go through the horrid experience of loosing someone so close to your heart but they make it so much easier to manage! Personally, we dealt with Josh and Elizabeth and they are the most kind and heartfelt people. I appreciate everything they’ve done for my family in this difficult time.

I cannot thank Josh Mitchell enough for the care and concern he showed for my family when my husband passed away. He explained all the things we needed to work out and offered suggestions when we were at a loss. His calm presence helped make a very difficult time a bit easier. Because of his attention to detail, we were able to get through a very difficult time. The military honors service was a wonderful tribute. Thank you Josh for your support.

My family and I helped my Veteran father prearrange his funeral with Bates, Wallace & Health and we were told that upon his passing all we needed to do was make one phone call to our personal Funeral Director.That is what I did on 4/23/19, and from that moment every single detail was executed with care and compassion. I could expand upon each aspect of their professional service which would take pages....transport, viewing, military contact, communication, facilities, memorial service.Professional excellence at every step with thoughtfulness and respect.

My father Dennis Bates ran this funeral home for over 40 years. Noone knew the meaning of the word "service" like him. I worked funerals with him during my high school and college years and saw his extremely high standards and dedication first hand. When he died we called the Mitchell family who now own it. Dad always spoke very highly of them but I've always thought that noone could measure up to dad. The Mitchell's did. They couldn't have been any better. Dads former funeral home is in good hands. Highly recommend them.

David Mitchell was very helpful, kind, and professional. He followed my family member's preplanning wishes, including bringing her out of state for burial, and helped us create a video tribute that reflected her interests. He even offered to bring many of her personal belongings along which helped us tremendously. If we still lived in NY we would use his services again.

Extremely kind and helped us through a very difficult time. I lost Jim while vacationing, and the unknowns were overwhelming. I spoke with Scott, and he handled everything to get Jim home so I could get home to my family. Making funeral arrangements during a pandemic and having to follow those guidelines can be very difficult. The staff at Bates Wallace & Heath Funeral Home in Middleport made it very easy to navigate these complications. They were very professional and friendly with obvious care for families seeking their services.
