Customer Reviews Summary
Animal Care Services has received a mix of positive and negative reviews. Many customers praise their compassionate service, respectful handling of pets, and the quality of urn options. However, there are serious concerns regarding transparency in pricing, the quality of the cremation process, and some instances of mishandling remains, leading to dissatisfaction among certain clients.

I have had several of my dogs cremated with this company. They show the utmost respect to me and my pet. I have done the viewing for each of our experiences. Everything has been perfect. Thank you to everyone for your caring and compassion.

Our 18 year old dog passed away last week in our home. I contacted Animal Care Services and they were kind, and genuine. I spoke to one gentleman at first who gave me additional information and pricing, he was very nice. Then i spoke with Lance, and really i don’t think i could have dealt with anybody better. He was kind, and gentle with our sweet girl. Today we received her ashes back, and Lance made sure that someone was at our home to receive them, and didn’t just leave them on our front porch. Everything was packaged beautifully as well. If you are in the unfortunate position of losing a pet, and choose cremation, I could not recommend them more. Thank you!

If you are in need to have a dead animal removed from your property I highly recomend ACS. We had a deer that died in our back yard I called Missouri Conservation Commission for help and they recommended Animal Care Services. I called them spoke to Tom he quoted me a very fair price and had Aaron out in less than two hours to pickup the deer. There service was extremely profession and dignified.

I just want to give a huge shout out to Tim who made the past couple of days a little better, from being stuck in the snow twice, to my parents beloved elderly dog passing away. The compassion and kindness that you have given me will never be forgotten. Thank you.

BEWARE: Do NOT use Animal Care Service for your beloved pet!In June of 2018, I lost my soul dog, a great dane named Bruiser. He passed at home around 1am. Since it was after normal business hours for my regular vet, I transported his body to Veterinary Specialty Services (amazing emergency hospital, highly recommend) for cremation services. Upon receiving his ashes back, I thought I finally had my boy’s remains back at home.In May of 2019, I had to say goodbye to my second great dane, Axl. He lost his fight with Wobbler Syndrome after a 2+ year battle. He was euthanized by my 6+ year veterinarian and services provided by Loving Hearts Pet Memorial Services. It was then that I realized Animal Care Service did not return all of Bruiser’s ashes to me. The urn I chose from their catalog did not have weight recommendations; therefore the urn I chose was not big enough to hold all of his ashes. Axl’s remains are double the weight of Bruiser’s remains. I understand the error in the urn size; however I’m extremely disappointed that the remaining ashes were not returned as well.On a Saturday night in January of 2022, my great dane Bruno passed at home. Again, I transported his body to Veterinary Specialty Services for cremation. I specifically told them to make a note stating that I wanted his FULL remains returned. This time, I bought my own urn from a different company. When I opened his remains, I was beyond heartbroken to find his ashes were a dark gray in color. My previous boy’s ashes were both sandy white in appearance. In my research of speaking with several other pet cremation companies for clarification in regards to color variations, Bruno’s remains were sadly not processed long enough for his size. The clay print of his paw print was beyond devastating to open. It’s not even his full paw, but only his toes because the correct size mold was not used. My other dane molds are twice as big with the entire paw print, pressed firmly for a good indentation. If you have read this far, please do your research in finding a company who actually cares. Do NOT use Animal Care service for your pet because with end of life care, there are no second chances!

When my Magnificent Murphy crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I knew I wanted his ashes. The first thing I asked my local vet was, does ACS do single cremations or group? I was pleased to hear, that they specialize in single cremations. I was also pleased to hear that they do the ceramic paw print.I choose a simple wooden box, to match my other fur-babies that crossed over the bridge ahead of Murphy. When I picked up his remains, his box and paw print were each presented in separate tulle gift bags. Their presentation, made a sad occasion easier to deal with.I would not wish it for anyone, but if you lose a pet, I highly recommend Animal Care Service. Their personalized services make the process easier and more comfortable for you, the pet owner.

I have used Animal Care Services four times in the last 3 years. My Chihuahua, Lily, was just returned to me today. They took care of my Layla in December. Lily passed away one week ago last night. I can't say enough good things about this company. When you call them they are so kind over the phone. When the young men come to pick up my babies and when they return them they couldn't be any kinder to me. I always cry and they always know the right things to say. Brendon took care of my Biggie two and a half years ago when I was living with a friend and was so wonderful. Zach has been coming to my house recently and he is so kind. Zach was so gentle when he took Lily from me last week. We have had them pick up larger dogs over the years and the experience was good even back then. I highly recommend using their services.

After a 7 year battle with Seizures our son Rebel lost his battle. On February 9 2020 our boy lost his battle and closed his eyes to go be with God. Our family was devastated and nothing can bring him back but he is no longer in pain. We called Animal Care Services and Zach responded to our call. We transported our boy and Zach met us with care and compassion. I asked him to treat our boy with respect and he surpassed our expectations. We told him what keepsakes we wanted and got all his paws cast for keepsakes and they had a very nice one that allows you to put his paw cast in a box and put his imprint in a sealed box and put his picture in the box cover. I got this for my wife so she could always carry him with her. We picked up his ashes on Valentines Day that week and they presented him to us in a beautiful box with inspirational cards and their thoughts of compassion and condolences for our loss. I and my family wish to express our deepest gratitude to Animal Care Services for the manner in which they treated our family. Thank you again. Rest In Peace our boy Rebel! 🙏

Went here for my sisters two guinea pigs who passed away, they are so professional. We didn’t buy an urn from them, but the remains we got back were in a beautiful white box with their names on it. Absolutely touched, my sister loved how respected they were. Got both of the piggies done for $90, when the average was over $150 at other places, such a deal. Please consider this place :)

I’m sorry but this is the second fur baby I’ve lost and the retrieval of his ashes were not at all comforting.. it honesty felt more halfhearted and a bit lazy attempt to bring my fur baby home. The box wasn’t fitting and the bag of ashes placed inside were not even fully ready to be given back. There’s things I can see that shouldn’t be seen and wouldn’t have even been in there the way it was had the process been completed.Idk… it more just made me sad and in an additional way besides losing my fur baby.Never would recommend this company ever.

My cat of 12 years passed and we trusted animal care services with our baby. And I got her ashes back today. The note touched my heart, thank you guys for the amazing services. The package her ashes were in helped getting her back a little bit easier. It really means a lot to still be able to have a piece of her still with me.

I recently lost my baby Eddy. I adopted him when I was in college and I’m now in my 30s. We grew up together in a lot of ways. Words can’t describe how devastated I am. I made the hard decision that it was best for him, his health and happiness, to put him to sleep. So we went to our vet and helped him cross over into heaven. The loss was unbearable. The last thing I wanted to do was talk about an urn and focus on the fact he was no longer alive. I needed a moment to breathe. Animal Care Service gave me that. With minimal safety measurements in order, this family run company manages to stay off OSHAs radar by posting up shop in a trailer, hidden in a wooded area on private property. They send their drivers out in unmarked non-refrigerated Sprinters to collect the deceased pets from local pet hospitals along with deceased deer scraped up off the side of the roads. Stacking them on top of each other, leaving a trail of blood and body fluids from Lake of the Ozarks to Southern Illinois. Private cremation? This company is known to lay the body’s next to each other, in hopes that the majority of the bones & ashes being scooped up are those of your pets. Just don’t mind that you may have a little bit of Fido’s ear and a portion of Spots tail mixed among your pets remains. But don’t worry, if your pets remains happen to get lost, they’ll just substitute it with Bambi’s ashes.

Please think twice about letting this place cremate your fur babies. My fur baby was left to bake in the sun in a bag on the front sidewalk, for all passer-by's to see, while waiting to be picked up by private transport. We were told that it was reportedly by the owner's son, Tommy, that left my sweet doggie outside. My private transport attempted to obtain pictures, but Bob quickly moved my fur baby, so as to not get caught. Bob was questioned as to if this was standard procedure, to leave a dog in a bag in the sun outside, and he stated no, it was not. Also, when I called yesterday afternoon, to advise ACS that I did NOT want them to cremate my fur baby, I was told that it could possibly be too late. WTH? The poor dog hadn't been dead more than 3 hours. Bob explained that he was not aware where their drivers were, and that the driver could be cremating her as we spoke!I am very heartbroken over the treatment of my sweet furbaby, shame on you, ACS. Your website says that you care about your clients pets, that is a blatant lie. And, NO, ACS, there is nothing you can do to fix this incident with me, so just sit back and lick your wounds. You don't even deserve one star of satisfaction, but I could not leave a comment without picking a star.A very unsatisfied customer,Stephanie Wahoski

Animal Care Service has been a pleasure to work with under the sad circumstances of actually having to make that phone call. My husband and I have personally brought 2 of fur babies (Chance and Shiloh) to them over the past 12 years and they treated us, my children and our animals with respect. I have recommended them numerous of times to friends and family and will continue to do so.

We woke up to find that our 9 year old pup, Sissy, had passed over night. Through the shock and grief, those at Animal Care Services were very caring and handled not only Sissy, but us with care. They explained everything in detail, answered questions, and double checked with us over the details. I highly recommend them.

Having just lost my precious 3rd Golden Retriever, Sophia, without warning May 1st, she was picked up from our vets office of 19 years by ACM. Sophia was my best friend and loving companion for almost 10 years and I missed her instantly as I stil do. There where two males older than her when she came along joining them as a pup in 2009. Both males passed away within 4 months of each in 2011. One expected, but the other a total shock. ACM has now handled all three with much loving care and respect. If anything so heartbreaking as losing loving pets is for me, ACM made it more bearable. They still carry the same exact urns chosen for each male in 2011 which was important to me as now they’re all three with me in the same beautiful urns with the big paw 🐾 🐾 print on top of each. The reason I liked these urns so much is they don’t look like your typical urn to me. They actually make me smile, at a time when I couldn’t control the tears. ACM included a beautiful note along with a card with wildflowers you can plant in memory of your special pet. They made a very heartbreaking thing hurt much less with the care they provide. I know I won’t be replacing the one I’ve lost but I will be looking for another dog to love, and as much as it hurts to think about now, I wouldn’t want to use another cremation service than these lovely caring people provide.Thank you all for taking care of all three of my beautiful Golden’s over the years. I couldn’t hsde expected anything more.I highly recommend ACM.

Lost our horse suddenly on a Sunday. Was able to talk to Tom and had an early Monday morning pickup. Great service. Thanks to Tom and. Zach for their care of our beloved horse of 24 years

One of our horses went down on the Tuesday before Thanks Giving, Wednesday morning i got in touch with a young man named Tom. I explained that Trooper had passed the night before and that we had him in the bucket of our tractor, but that I had my 3&1/2 yr old Grandson with me, and I was not sure how he was going to react to seeing Trooper in the tractor bucket. After talking price and pickup time, Tom said not to worry about my grandson he would handle everything. When we met him at the barn, Gavin wanted to see Trooper, and Tom said he could after he got him in the back of his truck. He did so, out of our sight. When we came around to that side of the barn Trooper was in the truck bed. Tom jumped off of our tractor and came over to talk to Gavin. He took him by the hand as they walked over to say goodbye to Trooper, Tom explained to Gavin that Trooper couldn't get to heaven by himself, and that he was going to help him get there. They said goodbye and cut off a piece of his mane for Gavin to keep, Tom held him up so that he could pet him one more time. Gavin was totally at ease with all of this as Tom and Trooper left. Thanks Tom, you made a big negative in our little mans world as positive possible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank You again!Pawpaw Rich, and the Webers, Lisa, Dustin, and Gavin

I don’t know how they managed to hire the nicest human beings I’ve ever encountered, but I’m so thankful for it. From the boys who picked up my horse, to the gals I talked to on the phone, to the gentleman who dropped his ashes off — everyone made this terrible process as painless as it could be and I’m so very grateful.
