We could not be more please with the sincere kindness and professionalism we received from each of the staff members; particularly Jenna! She was amazing! David and the staff at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Dearborn treated our family with such kindness, dignity, and respect through the entire process. David was always so kind and accommodating. From the very first day when they received his body to the very last day when he was buried. David ensured that everything met our needs and expectations. He was always responsive to my phone calls and emails. The service was beautiful and I appreciated how they helped us to ensure the service was customized to reflect my brother's specific style and personality. Everyone who attended agreed that the service and burial were exactly what my brother would have wanted. David and the staff at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home really helped us get through this horrible situation. I want to thank EVERYONE at Howe-Peterson for the treatment my family and I received when my mom passed away. They were compassionate, kind and always responded immediately whenever I had a question. My mom's last wishes was to use Howe-Peterson as her funeral home of choice! My father was laid out at Howe-Peterson some 27 years ago, and her written wishes was to be there as well. I pre-planned her service 2 years ago, and was so happy that I did that. I would definitely recommend pre-planning if you can, and to go to Howe-Peterson to do it. They were very professional, kind and caring during the pre-planning process. My mom did pass recently, and everything was so perfect!! She looked beautiful, the staff was attentive and helpful. Howe Peterson in Dearborn did an outstanding job for our family for my Mother’s funeral. David was extremely compassionate and ensured that all of our requests were attended to. He went over and above to make sure we were satisfied.My Mother looked absolutely beautiful, they did an amazing job. We all said, “Oh my God, she looks beautiful “.I was also impressed that the staff attended the funeral as well. David was there to help us through what we needed to do and Lyn (sp) was amazing. Cemetery staff told him he needed to “back up” for safety protocol, when they were putting the top on the vault….and he politely told them, “this is my job…..I will stay right here to make sure it is done right!”. We smiled, knowing, it was more than his job, and we all hugged and thanked him.Can’t say enough about how great the entire staff at the Dearborn funeral home is. Also, thank you to the team that came to my Mom’s home to pick her up. My daughter handled this for us, and they were very professional and came quietly in an unmarked vehicle. That was greatly appreciated.Lol…..not that I want to go back anytime soon, but it is my family’s choice for final arrangements. Thank you to the entire staff at Howe Peterson.

I remember my grandmother's (Mildred A. Lusk) funeral in 1964 - that you provided for her and her family. I was only 16 at the time. But I remember it was a beautiful celebration of her life. Then I also attended another beautiful celebration of Life for Virginia Combs in October 2023. She was one of our Dearborn Heights seniors in our Travel Club. As the surviving spouse of my late husband, Allen C. Schamp, Howe-Peterson treated me and my family horribly. As soon as they saw there was a trust and that my husband's family would be paying for everything, they excluded me from all arrangements. I had to force myself into the process to have any say at all. My husband wanted to be cremated. I agreed to release him into the hands of Howe-Peterson because his family all reside in MI and there was a family plot where he could rest next to his grandmother. Once I agreed to release him, within a matter of hours there was an online obituary (my husband was adamant about not having an obit and I have that in writing), the services were scheduled...a religious service and my husband was not religious and resented every aspect of his Lutheran upbringing. I had to ask for the obit to be changed to include the other important members of his life - not just his cats who passed, but his 2 furbabies (dogs) that he loved and cared for, because they weren't even mentioned. After I contacted the funeral director to let him know I was being excluded, I was able to provide my husband's suit, pictures of our life on a thumb drive for a slide show (they had only previously made arrangements for his family to provide framed photos), his jewelry, the ashes of his cherished cat who passed, and I asked for a lock of his hair. I was assured that these items would be returned directly to me or a member of my family as there were now some issues between myself and his family that were coming to light.It was later discovered, at the cemetery, where the funeral director was nowhere to be found, that the funeral home had in fact given all my items directly to his family. They put me and my family in a position to have to fight to get back things that his family had absolutely no right to and no interest in, during an already highly emotional time. I received a call indicating that they have sent the items through overnight mail after they received the items back from the family, so they followed through in ensuring I receive the items back in my possession, however this never should have happened.In addition, my place of employment (people that knew my husband) sent a flower arrangement to be displayed at the service and they rejected it on behalf of my husband's family! Who does that?? Absolutely disgusting.It seems that with Howe-Peterson, they only care about who has the money and that is who they answer to and take direction from. If you're the surviving spouse who only wants to honor the wishes of your loved one, forget it. You don't matter.Response to the funeral home's comments:Firstly, my name is MRS. SCHAMP. Secondly, Section 700.3206 does not state any restrictions based on any "divorce filing", in fact, it clearly states the "surviving spouse" is the descendent which is why it was necessary for you to contact me, have a witness, record the call, and have me implicitly state that I was giving you "permission" to "release" my husband's body. Further, there is and never was a divorce filing in the state of MI. In fact, there was never a "divorce" filing, ever. What you did was take the word of the family to try and craft a response to defend your actions. If you had actually looked into case filings prior to contacting me (in less than 24 hours after his death, I doubt you did much research at all), you would have been able to confirm no active filing. The fact is, you and the family worked together to make arrangements that would benefit them and your business. You had 72 hours for me to release the body or for me to make other arrangements. It was not in your financial interest to do that or in the personal interest of the family as their wishes went against Allen's wishes and if I had been allowed time to think and process what was happening, they knew I wouldn't have agreed to release his body.I appreciate your admitting that you DID, in fact, reject the flower arrangement on behalf of the family, as clearly stated in your response for others to see.

The staff was very compassionate and attentive to every detail for our Dad when he passed. The things we didn’t or couldn’t think of while still processing our grief they led the way and were incredibly helpful. A big “Thank you” to Liz for spending so much time with us to make sure everything was just right. In a family's worst time, Howe-Peterson made the process of my grandmothers arrangements go as smooth as possible with no issues or surprises. Specifically the director, Michael, who was even thinking of possible needs or issues before I could think of them. He was very helpful and even arranged for a priest since we were not with our local parish. Not that I hope to use their services anytime soon, but if they were needed I would not hesitate to go back to them.

In the last 10 or so years, my wife and I have been involved in and attended more funerals than we care to admit!Before my Dad recently passed away, he requested Howe-Peterson in Dearborn. Many of my wife's relatives used Howe-Peterson as their funeral service provider so the choice was easy.It was a great choice!From the moment we began funeral planning with Howe-Peterson we were VERY well taken care of. Their personal care, attention to detail and consistent communication throughout made us feel like we were their only customer.Despite COVID restrictions, they were still able to create an intimate and caring environment. Their use of technology allowed the entire family to be involved and engaged.Although I did not take advantage of their after-care services, I appreciate the care and service they offer long after funeral services are concluded.A special recognition goes out to Elizabeth "Liz" Kedzior who, in my wife and my opinion, exceeded every expectation we had regarding quality care. We all said, “Oh my God, she looks beautiful “.I was also impressed that the staff attended the funeral as well. David was there to help us through what we needed to do and Lyn (sp) was amazing. Cemetery staff told him he needed to “back up” for safety protocol, when they were putting the top on the vault….and he politely told them, “this is my job…..I will stay right here to make sure it is done right!”. We smiled, knowing, it was more than his job, and we all hugged and thanked him.Can’t say enough about how great the entire staff at the Dearborn funeral home is. Also, thank you to the team that came to my Mom’s home to pick her up. My daughter handled this for us, and they were very professional and came quietly in an unmarked vehicle. That was greatly appreciated.Lol…..not that I want to go back anytime soon, but it is my family’s choice for final arrangements. Thank you to the entire staff at Howe Peterson.

I remember my grandmother's (Mildred A. Lusk) funeral in 1964 - that you provided for her and her family. I was only 16 at the time. But I remember it was a beautiful celebration of her life. Then I also attended another beautiful celebration of Life for Virginia Combs in October 2023. She was one of our Dearborn Heights seniors in our Travel Club. From the first day we entered the funeral the home, everything was like clock work. Our case like many in these times of the pandemic was much different than in the past. We had to wait two weeks to actually have the service given my wife's mother died of COVID related conditions. Jeff, explained what and how we needed to proceed; rules, laws, masks, numbers, etc. We felt very taken care of , our worries were not on the services, Howe Peterson handled everything. A few others that were very helpful. Liz, Carmen, Danielle and our limo driver, whos name escapes me (he even met us at the Holly national cemetery later in the week) were all sensational to work with. Thank you everyone...ps my mother-in-law looked perfect!!

Not handicap friendly. After entering the home using the handicap ramp at the front entrance, I was told to re-enter from the back door. The reason being the elevator that would have easily accomodated my wheelchair and companion had been converted to use for a single office only. So at the back entrance I had to stand up in a closet-size freight elevator (that looked more like a converted dumb waiter) to get to the second floor. An unecessarily unpleasant and embarrassing experience.

As the surviving spouse of my late husband, Allen C. Schamp, Howe-Peterson treated me and my family horribly. As soon as they saw there was a trust and that my husband's family would be paying for everything, they excluded me from all arrangements. I had to force myself into the process to have any say at all. My husband wanted to be cremated. I agreed to release him into the hands of Howe-Peterson because his family all reside in MI and there was a family plot where he could rest next to his grandmother. Once I agreed to release him, within a matter of hours there was an online obituary (my husband was adamant about not having an obit and I have that in writing), the services were scheduled...a religious service and my husband was not religious and resented every aspect of his Lutheran upbringing. I had to ask for the obit to be changed to include the other important members of his life - not just his cats who passed, but his 2 furbabies (dogs) that he loved and cared for, because they weren't even mentioned. After I contacted the funeral director to let him know I was being excluded, I was able to provide my husband's suit, pictures of our life on a thumb drive for a slide show (they had only previously made arrangements for his family to provide framed photos), his jewelry, the ashes of his cherished cat who passed, and I asked for a lock of his hair. I was assured that these items would be returned directly to me or a member of my family as there were now some issues between myself and his family that were coming to light.It was later discovered, at the cemetery, where the funeral director was nowhere to be found, that the funeral home had in fact given all my items directly to his family. They put me and my family in a position to have to fight to get back things that his family had absolutely no right to and no interest in, during an already highly emotional time. I received a call indicating that they have sent the items through overnight mail after they received the items back from the family, so they followed through in ensuring I receive the items back in my possession, however this never should have happened.In addition, my place of employment (people that knew my husband) sent a flower arrangement to be displayed at the service and they rejected it on behalf of my husband's family! Who does that?? Absolutely disgusting.It seems that with Howe-Peterson, they only care about who has the money and that is who they answer to and take direction from. If you're the surviving spouse who only wants to honor the wishes of your loved one, forget it. You don't matter.Response to the funeral home's comments:Firstly, my name is MRS. SCHAMP. Secondly, Section 700.3206 does not state any restrictions based on any "divorce filing", in fact, it clearly states the "surviving spouse" is the descendent which is why it was necessary for you to contact me, have a witness, record the call, and have me implicitly state that I was giving you "permission" to "release" my husband's body. Further, there is and never was a divorce filing in the state of MI. In fact, there was never a "divorce" filing, ever. What you did was take the word of the family to try and craft a response to defend your actions. If you had actually looked into case filings prior to contacting me (in less than 24 hours after his death, I doubt you did much research at all), you would have been able to confirm no active filing. The fact is, you and the family worked together to make arrangements that would benefit them and your business. You had 72 hours for me to release the body or for me to make other arrangements. It was not in your financial interest to do that or in the personal interest of the family as their wishes went against Allen's wishes and if I had been allowed time to think and process what was happening, they knew I wouldn't have agreed to release his body.I appreciate your admitting that you DID, in fact, reject the flower arrangement on behalf of the family, as clearly stated in your response for others to see.

The staff was very compassionate and attentive to every detail for our Dad when he passed. The things we didn’t or couldn’t think of while still processing our grief they led the way and were incredibly helpful. In a family's worst time, Howe-Peterson made the process of my grandmothers arrangements go as smooth as possible with no issues or surprises. Specifically the director, Michael, who was even thinking of possible needs or issues before I could think of them. He was very helpful and even arranged for a priest since we were not with our local parish. Not that I hope to use their services anytime soon, but if they were needed I would not hesitate to go back to them.

In the last 10 or so years, my wife and I have been involved in and attended more funerals than we care to admit!Before my Dad recently passed away, he requested Howe-Peterson in Dearborn. Many of my wife's relatives used Howe-Peterson as their funeral service provider so the choice was easy.It was a great choice!From the moment we began funeral planning with Howe-Peterson we were VERY well taken care of. Their personal care, attention to detail and consistent communication throughout made us feel like we were their only customer.Despite COVID restrictions, they were still able to create an intimate and caring environment. Their use of technology allowed the entire family to be involved and engaged.Although I did not take advantage of their after-care services, I appreciate the care and service they offer long after funeral services are concluded.A special recognition goes out to Elizabeth "Liz" Kedzior who, in my wife and my opinion, exceeded every expectation we had regarding quality care.
