Mr. and Mrs. Black.were very kind and patient with me as I made the cremation arrangements for my husband. My husband wanted nothing in the way of a service or any announcements. I was not pressured in to something he did not wantThey were very timely with all of the services they provided for me.I was so grateful to them, I will prepay for my services as well. Terry Miller

I would not recommend Black's Funeral Home to anyone, I spoke to Pat at Mountain Memories and she told me how badly she was treated dealing with the death of her beloved brother. The Funeral Home wanted payment up front even though they knew the insurance policy money was on its way. For that reason her brother was held until the money was in their bank😞. I feel the compassion is definitely not I'm this business and it's so important when someone passed, I was absolutely shocked at how her famywss treated. You need to do better.

It has now been 2 1/2 months and I still do not have my mother’s death certificate. I have spoken with Grant and Colt. I have called multiple times and Hospice also called. As of today, September 26, I still don’t have it. This is a very unprofessional funeral home. I shouldn’t have to chase the death certificate as this is a very difficult time and this is unacceptable. I spoke with Grant, once again yesterday and he was supposed to have Colt call me. As usual, I haven’t heard anything. I will call again this morning then I will take legal action. This is so upsetting. Please don’t use this funeral home. It’s hard enough losing a loved one but no one should have to go through this.First, they were an hour later than they said to pick up her body, then they had to transfer the body to another funeral home in Virginia, and arrived later than stated. They are not returning my calls. This is pathetic. It is now October 2nd. Colt will not return my call. The funeral home that my mothers was transported to told me Black’s called them and said they didn’t pay them for the death certificates. Wow, 2 1/2 months later they realize that!

I chose Black's Funeral Home in Thurmont, MD primarily because I like to support family-owned small local businesses. I received so much more than I expected! Colt Black is a kind and thoroughly professional man. He collaborated with me on each detail of the funeral for my husband, and helped me choose appropriate and fairly-priced options. Each aspect of the planning was carefully covered, and all my questions and concerns were addressed with patience and care. Attention was paid to small, personal touches, those thoughtful little extras that mean so much at times like this. I would, without hesitation, recommend Black's Funeral Home. What is too often a stressful and trying experience was both calm and comforting. Colt and Michaela Black are compassionate and caring people, and I am very grateful for their wonderful service at a difficult time in my life!
