The staff at Staab’s helped us in a way that made us feel like family. Sueann , Grace, Jennifer, and all the staff knew just what to do…and each time I asked if they could have something included in the visitation or funeral they were on it immediately-like moving around displays, having easels and videos, bringing over just the right amount of plants to the church, suggesting which ones we leave at the church and which ones we take to the cemetery, knowing about the insurance companies and what they need to have…I would highly recommend their family to take care of your family.

Paul and everyone at Staab Funeral Homes were very compassionate, efficient and patient with us during our time of sorrow. They handled all aspects of the cremation, before and after, including the filling of my late husband’s ashes into smaller urns for my children, and into the pendant urns for my daughters and myself. They followed up how I was doing and offered whatever support they could provide. Another important help was the financial aspect. During one of the most difficult times in my life, I wouldn’t have ever imagined the warmth, empathy and compassion that I felt from the staff at Staab Funeral Homes. It felt like we progressed from complete strangers to family in the midst of our first phone conversation. Every Jenny, Claire and Grace were all immensely compassionate toward my family and I as we went through the difficulties of getting my father to his final resting place. Not only during the process did I receive support but afterwards also by reaching out to ensure we are doing okay. The Staab Family understands that coping never gets easier with loss, but kind words and sympathy messages as follow up can help along the journey. When they died in late winter, the folks at Staab stepped in and handled everything, answering my questions , meeting with my family member’s closest friends and ensuring that things went smoothly. At a time when families are grief stricken and overwhelmed, planning a funeral seems insurmountable. Before our Mom died,she specifically requested Staab Funeral Home. Staab helped us every step of the way; from the large details such as transporting our Mom from North Carolina to Illinois, the funeral Mass, to the smaller, yet very important aspects of Holy cards, set up of memory boards and flower arrangements, and everything in between. The Staab family and staff were kind, professional, and so conscientious. What seemed insurmountable became much more manageable and seamless with all of the expertise they contributed. I would recommend Staab Funeral Homes for your and your loved ones/families funeral needs. My husband is from the Springfield, IL area. I am not. We do not live in Springfield. However, my mother in law did; and her request was for Staab to make the arrangements. It is my understanding Staab is a family owned/ran business. Our interaction was very helpful and professional when making arrangements for my mother in law. The members of the Staab team were very kind and patient when answering our questions. They were very helpful in explaining the process of my mother in laws wishes, the cost, and the expected time line for completion. Since we live out of state, it was greatly appreciated that Staab arranged for my Mother in Law's ashes to be mailed to us. Two reasons for a 4 star rating as opposed to a 5 star rating: 1. Remembering that funerals are a business. I was a bit taken back when handed a brochure/magazine with different kinds of memorabilia that could be made from ashes ie: bracelets, keychains, paperweights, fingerprints, etc. I feel in the moment of a loved one passing away this is A LOT of information to absorb. Just the sheer sticker shock of a cremation in this case, made us say an immediate "no" However; I DO feel like this is a great idea and a great service to offer loved ones/family. Now that some time has passed and we have been able to process HER passing, looking back; a keep sake would have been nice. I wonder depending on timelines, if a follow up call could be made in 2-3 days after funeral plans have been arranged to make sure no keepsakes are wanted. This just allows a little more time for people to process the information. 2. The other reason for a 4 star rating is: We had it arranged that my Mother in Law was to be cremated. During our meeting we were asked if we wanted the ashes divided up. We decided to have the majority of her ashes in one large container, and then some of her ashes in 3 separate small containers. This was written on the receipt, and paid for in full. Unfortunately, when my mother in law arrived in the mail, there was only one large container and no ashes divided up in 3 smaller containers.With that said, we are very appreciative of the quick response in setting up a meeting with us to make arrangements so quickly since we are out of state. It was also very appreciative to have phone calls and updates provided to us via phone call on the timeline of cremation and ashes arrival. Overall I would recommend Staab Funeral Homes.

The Staab Funeral Home team has handled the arrangements for two generations of my family - both my grandparents and my recently passed father. From the very beginning, they treated me with empathy and transparency, helping me through the process at the end. My dad’s wishes were not a traditional funeral or even a cremation. Rather, having long suffered from a variety of mental illnesses he always said he wanted his body donated to science to aid the study and hopeful end of so much mental anguish. Staab made this possible. They worked with us and the Illinois Anatomical Gift Association to fulfill my dad’s last request. Thank you to the Staab team for giving him that dignity. I would recommend Staab Funeral Homes for your and your loved ones/families funeral needs. My husband is from the Springfield, IL area. I am not. We do not live in Springfield. However, my mother in law did; and her request was for Staab to make the arrangements. It is my understanding Staab is a family owned/ran business. Our interaction was very helpful and professional when making arrangements for my mother in law. The members of the Staab team were very kind and patient when answering our questions. They were very helpful in explaining the process of my mother in laws wishes, the cost, and the expected time line for completion. Since we live out of state, it was greatly appreciated that Staab arranged for my Mother in Law's ashes to be mailed to us. Two reasons for a 4 star rating as opposed to a 5 star rating: 1. Remembering that funerals are a business. I was a bit taken back when handed a brochure/magazine with different kinds of memorabilia that could be made from ashes ie: bracelets, keychains, paperweights, fingerprints, etc. I feel in the moment of a loved one passing away this is A LOT of information to absorb. Just the sheer sticker shock of a cremation in this case, made us say an immediate "no" However; I DO feel like this is a great idea and a great service to offer loved ones/family. Now that some time has passed and we have been able to process HER passing, looking back; a keep sake would have been nice. I wonder depending on timelines, if a follow up call could be made in 2-3 days after funeral plans have been arranged to make sure no keepsakes are wanted. This just allows a little more time for people to process the information. 2. The other reason for a 4 star rating is: We had it arranged that my Mother in Law was to be cremated. During our meeting we were asked if we wanted the ashes divided up. We decided to have the majority of her ashes in one large container, and then some of her ashes in 3 separate small containers. This was written on the receipt, and paid for in full. Unfortunately, when my mother in law arrived in the mail, there was only one large container and no ashes divided up in 3 smaller containers.With that said, we are very appreciative of the quick response in setting up a meeting with us to make arrangements so quickly since we are out of state. It was also very appreciative to have phone calls and updates provided to us via phone call on the timeline of cremation and ashes arrival. Overall I would recommend Staab Funeral Homes.

Staab Funeral Home outright LIED to us. Prior to passing away, our aunt made arrangements with Staab for her cremation, but intended for the bill to be paid from her estate. Due to the amount of work required to clear out her house to ready it for sale, and the Executor of her estate living outside of Illinois, we realized it would take some time before we had all of the estate’s affairs in order. The Executor contacted Staab about this, and we were informed there would be no late fees, and that we could take as much time as needed to get the estate in order before paying. The Executor also made certain to call Staab every couple of months to make certain this arrangement was still in place, and to assure the funeral home the bill would indeed be paid. Six months later - around the time we would have been able to START getting things in order had the estate needed to go to probate (and only if we had filed for such immediately following her passing) - we received a letter informing us we were being charged the very late fee Staab had assured us multiple times would not be charged. While we were able to convince Staab to remove the late fee, doing so was contingent upon us paying IMMEDIATELY, which due to this being a debt owed by the estate, only the Executor could pay to keep things running smoothly. He had to wait several hours before getting a call back, and he had to make the payment out of pocket, as the estate account had insufficient funds - the house has not yet been sold.Again, Staab lied to us in our time of grief. Had they simply been upfront and honest, a large headache could have been avoided.

"Our 35-year-old son passed away unexpectedly while living on the other side of the country. This was a huge stress for us as parents. We are not supposed to outlive our children. The long distance added complexity to an already difficult circumstance. Staab funeral home did an outstanding job and helped our family during this very difficult time. They coordinated the transfer of our son’s body to Illinois, they organized the services with our church, and they designed a beautiful celebration of life card. They were very competent, but most importantly, their compassionate care comforted us. On two occasions, PJ and Paul assisted me with the arrangements of my pets, Dutchess (2014) and Robbie (2015). My pets and I were treated with the utmost respect and care. My dogs were returned to me in a beautiful carved Walnut vessel. Each time PJ went the extra mile and kept the remains in his office until I could collect them. Without hesitation I recommend Staab's for all mortuary needs. When it is my time, Staab's will send me over the Rainbow Bridge. PJ thankyou for all you do.

My parents and i recently attended a service there. My mother has mobility issues and we realized a wheelchair would be very helpful. We were provided a wheelchair, escorted up in the elevator and assisted in getting her back out to the car. The staff were extremely helpful and kind and we couldn't be more grateful.
