Dr. Norton was incredibly kind, efficient, and compassionate. We had to say goodbye to our kitty, and it was so nice to not have to put her in a car and take her to an unfamiliar place to say goodbye.Iβm grateful there is a service like this here. It must be a difficult job, but we are so thankful for Dr. Norton and the team for offering kindness and compassion at one of the most difficult times in our life. π€

Our kitty reached the end of her life and could no longer take her cancer meds. We had to make the tough decision to call RVG to try and schedule a same-day euthanasia appointment. Everyone involved was polite, respectful, and comforting in our time of grieving, and being able to say our last goodbyes in our cat's favorite room at home was an invaluable blessing. Thank you so much Dr. Norton, and thank you all for the service you provide.

I feel that any words I write here do not come close to expressing my wife's and my gratitude toward Denice and Josh for their care, compassion, and respect for my best friend, but I will try anyways.Buddy was my first dog, brought home at eight weeks, rarely not at my side throughout the next 11 years of his life. Thanks to River Valley Gateway, he enjoyed his final morning under the shade in his backyard, being held, petted, and reassured that he was the best boy.Denice was immensely patient and understanding as she helped my wife and I through the process, made sure we knew what was coming next, ensuring we knew he could still hear us, and just allowing us to take our time through one of the most difficult experiences of my life so far. When we came to see his cremation and say one final goodbye, Josh ensured that we were prepared for what we would experience. He walked us through each step in the process, while consistently checking to ensure we were prepared for, and wanted to participate in, as much or as little as we needed. It has been a blessing to have this experience, and worth so much more than what they generously charge for their services. I was so grateful to have his sister, Sasha, get to see and smell him so that she could process his absence alongside my wife and I. It was never even a concern that she was present throughout it all.I honestly feel that I was treated as family with the amount of care and concern everyone at River Valley Gateway shared with my wife, myself, and Sasha. It was a blessing to have this be part of his end of life story. I am forever grateful to Denice, Josh, and their entire team for what they gave to us. Thank you.

Today we put our handsome boy to rest. Definitely not a easy decision for anyone to make. Denice was amazing, she came to our house and she helped make the process easier for us all. She helped us understand everything she was doing, and helped our boy feel as comfortable as possible. He has always been in good hands, from his beginning to his end. Thank you so very much, I will recommend y'all to anyone in need!

I had to make the decision to put my sweet senior dog to sleep quicker than I planned due to his health taking a quick turn. The professionalism and kindness they offered is something every pet and pet lover should experience. Dr. Norton was so empathetic and communicative during the whole process. It was a gift to allow my sweet boy to pass lovingly in my and my family's embrace.

If I could give 100 stars I would. I had to have my almost 20 year old cat put to sleep on January 17th and she was taken from the ER Vet to river valley. I was amazed when I picked up her ashes and not only was it in a gorgeous container but they also gave me her paw prints impressions, which I was not expecting. It caused the river of tears to start again. You guys are amazing.

River Valley Gateway was so wonderful to deal with. All the staff we came in contact with were empathetic, kind, and gentle. They helped us navigate the hard choices and gave us a sense of safety. Josh was patient with our two little girls, and allowed us all to individually say our good byes. My family and I are so grateful for the care they gave to our sweet Bayn boy. The whole process made me feel like Bayn was treated with compassion and dignity. It rained the day we picked Bayn's ashes up and a big rainbow showed up when we got home π β€οΈ Thank you River Valley for all your care!

Josh at the Crematorium gets an A++My story(if anyone cares):It was a late Saturday night/Sunday Morning at about 3am when I went to go lay down for bed and I noticed something red on the floor. I figured it was cat food throw up(since cat food is redish) and didn't think much of it. Woke up the next morning to my wife leaving for work waking me up telling me our Cat, LuLu is dying. I wake up and she's already knocking on deaths door. Come to find out that red stuff was not throw up... It was poop and her organs were failing... I think someone poisoned our cat or she got into something somewhere(probably my fault). I laid with her all day by her side as she took her final breaths. After she passed I packaged her up in a box with a bath towel from when I was 17(11 years ago) and a pushie from about the same time. I taped her up and patiently waited until Monday morning until the Crematorium opened. I gave Josh a call and he was INCREDIBLY understanding and helpful through the whole process. Answered all my questions and was able to take LuLu in an incredibly fast fashion and even offered to come pick her up if needed to. Truly went the extra mile. I instructed him that this last ride was going to mean a lot to me and so I did it myself. When I showed up Josh immediately knew who I was and called me by name and immediately escorted me into the "viewing room" where I placed her box up on the table and was given a few last moments with her. After I collected myself, Josh was very informative about the whole process and how things are handled there as far as private cremation etc. Josh even gave a little chuckle at my grievance joke, "well we ain't fancy, LuLu, you're flying coach, B****". He even gave me another moment to say goodbye another time. I was a mess and in tears and he made me feel incredibly welcome and at no point did I feel like I was being judged for going through my emotions. They also honored my request to have her cremated with the towel and plushie. Overall the price of the cremation was very fair and a private cremation is NOT very different in price if that means that much more to you (Like another 20 bucks at the time of writing this). Josh showed me a few memorial keepsake items like paw prints or necklaces etc which is clearly where they make thier money. Each little thing was $100 or more per item which was a little steep for me but is nice they offer that. Everything in that regard seemed to be of incredibly high quality(Jewelry store status). I informed Josh that might be out of my price range and he offered that if I find a capsule I like on Amazon that they would help me transfer the ashes into it. Its also worth noting that the price of the cremation also includes an urn. You can choose between a tin and a wooden box at no extra cost. All in all, this place has made much easier to make the transition with my loved one and I could not thank them enough. Hopefully I'll never have to see them again β€ But if the need arises, I will be taking all my pets here for thier final destination... Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope this answers some questions for some and I hope anyone going through this, heals π π You're not alone

At a terrible time, Dr. Norton is an empathetic, caring presence. She is gentle with both animals and people. We wouldn't want anyone else to help us during the trauma of saying goodbye to our little family members. Thank you, Dr. Norton.

The team at River Valley was so helpful! I had to say goodbye to my Mia and being able to do it at home was much more comfortable for her and for me. The scheduling was quick and the receptionist was so kind. The Dr. was understanding and patient throughout the process. She made her passing so peaceful and walked me through everything she was doing. Lastly, the Urn and keepsakes were beautiful and made for an emotional ride home. This process is so hard and I respect the whole team for being strong and compassionate enough to help people through it. Thank you so much.

These people were absolutely the most amazing and caring people. We had to put our dog down after a very traumatic event and river valley came to the house and gave my bowser the most beautiful peaceful passing. She was caring and did a wonderful job of letting us say goodbye and was very professional but also took her time and did not make us feel rushed. She then gave us some info on grief and resources which was very helpful. We then got my dog cremated and they let us cremate him with his favorite jacket and rope which we are grateful for. Today we picked up him up and they put him in a beautiful urn and not a box or a bag which we appreciated greatly. They also did a wonderful job with the nose print we ordered and gave us a few things when we picked him up like a poem and some flowers to plant which was a sweet touch. I highly recommend them if itβs time for you pet. And price wise they where very good. We paid less then $500 for everything and for sure it was worth every penny.

Dr. Norton came to Silt and helped us send our best girl on her next journey. At such a painful time her calm and caring demeanor was such a balm to hurting hearts. I highly recommend her services to anyone in a similar position.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to Denice and Josh. Letting my sweet boy go was an incredibly hard decision to make. As it is for everyone. The whole experience was peaceful. I truly believe my boy had the best passing I could have ever asked for.She let me be a complete mess of tears and said some words of comfort that really stuck with me. I probably used a whole box of tissues. I will forever appreciate the care and compassion that she showed me during that painful time. And just 6 days later I was able to pick up his ashes.

This is the second time I have required the services of the River Valley Gateway people, and as usual, they do not disappoint. They are caring and courteous and knowledgeable. They made the passing of my Norman a graceful and wonderful moment. They also took care of his sister Idgie , and eased her passing a little more than a year ago. I will always be grateful for the love and care that they took with my St. Bernardβs in guiding them to the Rainbow Bridge.I would recommend these people to anyone and even for humans if it was allowable. Deep, deep respect, and gratitude.πππππRita Bowers-Jensen

I couldn't have asked for a more positive and meaningful experience than I received here. Josh was an incredible person to work with, he was compassionate and respectful and he treated my beloved bird with as much love and respect as a cat or dog, which meant the world to me. I received a pressing of my bird's little feet with his name and a gorgeous urn for his ashes, and some clippings of his feathers per my request. I would highly recommend River Valley Gateway as the place to take your pets for the final part of their journey.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with River Valley Gateway. From the phone call to make the appointment, to the visit itself, they showed so much compassion and understanding for me and my beloved cat. It was a very emotional and heart-wrenching decision to say goodbye to my furry friend, but they made the experience as comforting as possible. Thank you so much for the care you gave my sweet Miso and the easy cross over the rainbow bridge β€οΈ

River Valley Gateway cannot be praised enough. The gal that answered the phone (sorry I forgot her name) was so kind and answered all my questions and we had some good laughs. They were able to do the same day we called which really was important to us under the circumstances. Dr. Norton was amazing and incredibly compassionate. From the second she stepped into our home and gave me a hug until the moment she left we felt comfortable and grateful for her. Our Mastiff was 10 and we knew we wouldn't be able to get him into a car. Dr. Norton took her time and made our last day with him peaceful. It was so nice for Magnus to be at his home and not in a sterile office environment. Their after care options are great as well and they offer several choices. I will definitely recommend her and her services to everyone I know when the tough time comes.

The very best option for helping our Tank cross over. Dr. Norton came to the house and reassured my husband it was time. She spent time with him and made sure he was comfortable. Tank passed peacefully thanks to her. She encouraged us to take pictures and put him in a basket with a blanket and took him to their creamatory. He was in the best hands. Josh was amazing too! He said if there was anything we needed don't hesitate to call. Thanks again

After several office visits, trying to get answers for our little guy, Guinness was scared to leave home. His health had declined quickly, and adding stress of another office visit didnβt seem fair to him. From the moment Dr. Norton arrived at our house, her number one priority was making sure that Guinness was comfortable and at ease. She spent time with Guinness, talking to him, petting him, and. letting him smell her and her gear. And, when the time came and when Guinness was relaxed, she came to him.Dr. Norton noticed that I was trying to get some final pictures of my little buddy and helped in getting his attention and didnβt hesitate to take pictures of us together. She was very thorough in explaining what to expect in every step, and because of this there were no unexpected surprises that could make a difficult time harder. In every aspect, our family felt supported and were given options to fit what we needed. Thank you, Dr. Norton, for doing all you could to ease his pain and ours.

This review has been long in coming and I was reminded just the other day when I passed by River Valley Pet Cremation that I needed to write this. Our dearly beloved Anatolian Shepherd Susie Q had to be put to sleep due to complications with diabetes and cancer.. We were traveling on the road in our motorhome and had intended to get Q back home to the Roaring Fork Valley, but due to her suffering, we could not make it, so contacted a vet hospital who said they were too busy but did refer us to a local vet who specializes in end of life for animals. She in turn made arrangements for us to meet her at Gateway. Both the vet lady , I forget her name now, and the folks at Gateway were the absolute best! They were professional, empathetic and went out of their way for us. We agreed for them to come on board our motorhome so as not to cause our dear girl any more pain or suffering from having to move her .After Q went to sleep, Gateway came in and wrapped her up and took her out on a guerny .. telling us we could stay in their back parking lot for as long as we needed in order to pull ourselves together. The owner checked on us, and knowing that we were traveling, surprised us by saying he would have her remains processed in just a couple of hours so that we wouldnβt have to leave her remains behind. These are very kind folksβ¦.the type people that you would want helping you in such a time of distress. They went out of their way to accommodate and help us! I would definitely recommend them, and the vet lady as well. Thanks again and hats off to the excellent and compassionate care provided by the Gateway team.

We had to have my wife's dog Mika put down. The Dr. Came to our home and led us through the process and let us know every step of the way what she was doing and what was happening to our Mika. This was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make buy they did an exceptional job and made the process as easy as possible for us to say goodbye to our "BEST FRIEND" Thank you so much.

I had to put down my 14 year dog and the entire team at River Valley made it such a peaceful process. I can not thank you enough for everything you did to make that incredibly difficult situation easier on the entire family and Dirk was able to peacefully go in his home surrounded by those that loved him. I will be forever grateful for what you did.

Although it was the hardest thing ive ever had to do, river valley gateway helped me send my baby girl over the rainbow bridge.Juno was 5 years old, a pit and Dalmatian mix. She had severe kidney and liver failure, and it was not curable. I called around 8 and they were at the house by 2. They let us take our time to say our goodbyes, and to allow Juno to be relaxed and calm. They did everything carefully and took their time to explain it to us. When they first arrived, we showed them the paperwork from her vet visit and were comforted by being told we were doing the right thing. That there was nothing else we could have done.I never wanted to say goodbye to my baby girl at such a young age, but I could not have imagine doing it another way than the way river valley gateway did. At home, slowly, detailed, and HUMANE. I moved three days after everything and they made sure they had her ashes ready for me, so she could come home to her family.Thank you for making the hardest day of my life a little bit easier, you truly are a god sent group of people.I also want to add that their pricing is wonderful, very generous and caring.

Iβm not one to write reviews, however after the service we received today I felt compelled to. We had to say goodbye to our 11 year old boxer Floyd today. Heβs always been nervous about going to the vet so I wanted to make his transition as easy and stress free as possible. We called River Valley at 8:00am and they were at our house by 10:00. They were so respectful and understanding and made one of the worst days of our lives a little easier. Thank you so much for providing animals a way to exit this world at home where they feel safe and comfortable. Floydβs passing was so peaceful and pain free. I cannot thank you enough for what you did for us today. I strongly suggest River Valley to anyone having to make one of the hardest decisions of a lifetime.

Denice found a way to fit us into her already filled day. When she arrived to help our dog with his end of life journey, she was warm, attentive, and did not make us feel like she needed to be anywhere else. She was attentive to our children and other dogs and made us feel at ease during this very difficult time. I can't image another way to help our loved pup finish his journey with us.

We were very fortunate to have Dr. Norton and her staff help us through the passing on of our beloved dogs, Harvey and Cubby. They were able to spend their last moments peacefully in our home. Dr Norton is extremely competent and compassionate. The Grand Valley is lucky to have her and her hospice practice to provide this very needed service.

One of the hardest calls I have ever had to make as an adult was to you. The tone, manner and compassion in your voice assured me. Upon arrival it was all still our choice, not rushed and we felt we were able to give our baby girl all the love we wanted at the end of her life. We are so grateful you were even willing to hold the phone so other family members could be there as well. We will never forget this experience and thankful it was so amazing. I sill always recommend your services to anyone. Thank you again!

i cannot say enough about josh, tanner, and the folks here. our pet passed away unexpectedly on a sunday while we were visiting GJ. the emergency clinic set us up with their contracted cremation provider, but expected time for the cremation was up to 3-4 weeks. the next day, we researched and found josh and team. they helped us get our guy to their location and got us on the schedule for the same day since we had to leave town. i honestly can say i don't think i've ever had a better experience at any other business. very patient, accommodating, compassionate, and sincere. we took part in the entire process and josh coached us every step of the way. if your pet is near end-of-life or already passed, you absolutely should give river valley a call to help you. they are amazing. and it was more affordable than the clinic that would take 3-4 weeks, to boot.

One of the hardest things to do is to put your senior pet to rest. After 15 years with our sweet Chloe we made the hard decision to say goodbye to our fury family member. I can't thank Dr. Norton enough for her kindness and compassion in helping us during this difficult time. It was important to have our entire family present and Dr. Norton explained every step taken in order to make the process painless and comfortable for Chloe. Having Dr. Norton come to our home allowed for a peaceful goodbye to our precious little Chloe. Thank you with all our hearts.

We woke up on a Tuesday morning to find our 90lb 4-year old dog Moose had died in the night. We were not prepared in any way. This was devastating, we had no idea what to do. On top of the emotional board to the head, we had no PTO and were expected at work. It was 5:00AM. We had no means to bury him in January. I searched to find the pet crematorium that opened the earliest, and this was it. We loaded Moose and drove from Eckert to Grand Junction. I kept calling once 8:00AM opening arrived and after 3 or 4 tries Josh answered and explained they were short staffed and not open at the posted time. Josh came in within 30 minutes to help us with Moose and explain everything. We had Moose's ashes in 3 days and the extra touches were very sweet. The cost was reasonable for a large dog. Neither of us were mentally prepared for that day or that week so we were likely difficult to deal with, but Josh and the lady we picked the ashes up from were both caring and understanding and helpful, so I would not hesitate to use them again - though I hope not under the same circumstances.

This is hard review to write, considering I had to let my girl of 15 years go on Monday. The best decision I made was contacting Denise at River valley. This is the best way to help your animal through the last stages of life, and Denise really helped me through. The service provided is priceless, because my girl got to have her last stages comfortably at home. If you are questioning this, don't. It will be the best choice you have made for your fur baby.

We had to put our 16 year old sweet Marley to rest today. Dr. Denice was so incredibly kind and compassionate for the whole process Their traveling services made it possible for Marley to go peacefully in her own yard while soaking up the sun shine. It really eliminated the anxiety of getting her to an office setting for our sweet girl, and my family.

Dr. Norton and her husband Josh must be the most kind and compassionate people in their field. They really go above and beyond with the level of support, love and care they provide both you and your pet. It was such a comfort to peacefully say goodbye to our beloved Chasey in our own home. We are forever grateful.

Dr. Norton and her amazing staff were beyond wonderful and caring in my time of grief and loss of my beloved Taser. She explained everything to me and my parents and assured me that I was not taking away his life the tumor was and this was so he would no longer suffer! Her temperament, love for my dogs and ability to make an extremely stressful situation be about only me and my boy!!! Extremely professional comforting to not only myself and parents but to taser as well! I would regret everything if it were not for Dr. Norton and her staff and would highly recommend her to anyone facing this tough decision! If you have to put down your best friend or family pet I'd highly suggest River Valley Gateway to anyone. I had to say goodbye to my best friend the other day, Bandit, he was a good ol boy 18 years we were together. These people at river valley are awesome. They are sympathetic to the customers aswell as the animals needs. They can do many nice things for your pet such as paw prints, nose prints, urns, ect... which was very hard for me to try an do while he was still alive. And if you don't puck a custom urn then they still give you a very nice one. Made me happy that it wasn't just a cardboard box like I was expecting. They definitely did the best they could to honor my ol man dog bandit. And I will use them again in the future when the time comes for my other fur babies.

Not sure where to start. My sweet George became very ill within 3 weeks of diagnosis of oral cancer. He has a vet in Crested Butte but we were here in Grand Junction during this time. A vet here in GJ recommended I call Dr. Norton as I couldnβt take George back to CB. We had a consultation with Dr. Norton and she is an angel. Immediately George was at ease with her. We scheduled a time, for her to come to our house where George could be with his family while he crossed the rainbow bridge. Yesterday Dr Denice came and me our almost 16 year old Shih Tzu who hasnβt been eating much and we thought he was failing. She and I were able to deduce that he has been not getting enough fluids or nutrients because he is dealing with pain. She watched him for awhile, looked at past vet blood work and came up with a plan to help him at this time. He still has some quality of life left and I could notice within no time that he has more spunk and energy and he is eating more. Denise is thorough, resourceful, interactive with the patient and the family, and I feel supported in this end of life time process for my little guy.

I can't image another way to help our loved pup finish his journey with us.

i cannot say enough about josh, tanner, and the folks here. our pet passed away unexpectedly on a sunday while we were visiting GJ. the emergency clinic set us up with their contracted cremation provider, but expected time for the cremation was up to 3-4 weeks. the next day, we researched and found josh and team. they helped us get our guy to their location and got us on the schedule for the same day since we had to leave town. i honestly can say i don't think i've ever had a better experience at any other business. very patient, accommodating, compassionate, and sincere. we took part in the entire process and josh coached us every step of the way. if your pet is near end-of-life or already passed, you absolutely should give river valley a call to help you. they are amazing. and it was more affordable than the clinic that would take 3-4 weeks, to boot.

Not all heroes wear capes. Put your trust in Denice, she will not steer you wrong. When its time, give your heart to her and know she will guide your sweet one painlessly, gently to the bridge until you meet again.

Loosing our pets is a hard experience, River Valley made this experience a beautiful one. They are very thoughtful, respectful, and educated.

As heart breaking as losing your dog to aggressive cancer is ,this service Definitely made my loss of my sweet dog the best situation for her . She was terrified of the vets office and having compassionate people to walk me through this end of life process.

So hard, but also so peaceful, comfortable, and precious. I will cherish those last moments with Hobie for the rest of my life. Thank you Denice and everyone.
