tomorrow will be our one week anniversary of adopting out first kitten from the hssv (and our first kitten in general)! the adoption process was so seamless and a lot simpler than expected. Gretchen was super helpful and informative in letting us see all the kittens and had an amazing attitude that made it all the more enjoyable. And to Michelle who helped us with the paperwork process, thank you for making it and seamless and cracking jokes with us! she made the experience memorable and fun.our kitten came to us in good health and well taken care of. they gave me all of his medical records from foster care to the most updated and let us know what his next vaccines are. they also set us up with pet insurance which i am grateful for, it was such an easy process.i am happy to report that our kitty (previously named grady) has been adjusting very well and is so happy. he was definitely the best choice for us and i would definitely adopt through the hssv again!

We have had two great experiences with this facility. Our sweet puppy was adopted here a few years ago. She was healthy and clean when we got her. The staff was friendly and helpful. The shelter is clean and the furry friends are all well cared for. Currently we are fostering kittens for the shelter. Itβs our first time fostering. Its been a great experience for the whole family, especially our teens- they learned how to syringe feed seven week old kittens. Its taught them a lot of responsibility. The volunteers involved in fostering are helpful and they have free back up for non-emergency or emergency issues. The vets and vet techs have been kind and grateful that we are fostering. The food and litter is supplied. They even have some toys. I did buy a cheap large litter box. And our teens can log some volunteer hours too. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about our visit to the Humane Society Silicon Valley. First, this is a lovely site - really well maintained and areas for animals to play indoors and outdoors - just a great facility. We came in looking for a kitty, and were assisted by a really helpful and kind man (unfortunately, we forgot to get his name!). Turns out we went in looking for one kitty and left with two, as two brothers claimed us :) Everyone was so friendly and made the adoption process a really wonderful experience we won't forget. Thank you all!

We wanted to provide HSSV with an update on Mochi's progress since bringing him to his forever home. Mochi is just as sweet as described, enjoying exploring his new surroundings and staying close to his humans. He adores watching and listening to the birds in the backyard, and when tired, he prefers napping on the biggest bed in the house. Here are some pictures of mochi that we're excited to show you. This is my second adoption through HSSV, and I have been happy with their service and care for animals. Thank you so much for allowing us to give Mochi a loving home.

Best place to find your furry new family member. Love the cat rooms that allow you to be in the room with the cats and kittens and see how you interact. Cats are altered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Compared to paying for these services yourself, it's a great deal too. Many have been fostered and are extremely friendly. And some are scared and need a calm patient person to allow them to trust, relax, and show the wonderful cat hiding inside. Don't know of a better place to find your newest family member.

I cannot say enough about them, I had to take my 12 year old cat in to be put to sleep. It was a great experience under the circumstances. They were very welcoming, explained everything to me i wish i could remember the ladies name that did the procedure but she was awesome. They really took the time with me and then afterword's let me spend some time with her. They also took her blanket and stuffy to cremate her with. Again I want to thank them so much for the care and comparison they showed in my situation.

I just adopted my little guy on Sunday, February 18th! I was not expecting to meet him, but after some encouragement from the helpful staff who thought he would be perfect for me to meet, I agreed to meet him! He was formally known as βSizzleβ at the HSSV, but I renamed him Charlie. Itβs been 5 days now, and Iβm just so happy with him. Waking up to him is such a joy. Within the last few days, weβve gone on lots of walks, had a vet check-up, had lots of play time, and plan to have a visit to the groomers. Heβs this bundle of energy that loves his toys! I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you so much for providing me with my happy fur baby. My family and I love him so much! He has brought so much happiness to our home, and Iβd like to think itβs the same for him too as we experienced his βzoomiesβ here!! Thank you Margaret for our meet & greet, and thank you Denise for helping process the adoption forms and answering any questions I had. Thank you to the staff who helped encourage me to meet him as well. Everyone was so patient and helpful. Iβm truly so grateful! I have attached some updated photos here of our time together so far! Thank you!!!!

Adopted our adorable 3-year old Miri here! Despite the recent fire and having to relocate the cats, the cats are very well cared for and well adjusted. Would recommend to anyone looking for a forever cat!

I came to this location a few weeks ago with a possible lost cat to get it checked for a microchip. They did in fact check the cat for one, which he did not, but were incredibly unhelpful afterwards. The young lady who initially helped us out and gave us a carrier box to put the cat in, and was the one who checked for a chip, was very nice and accommodating. It was her supervisor, an older woman, that we had an issue with. We were trying to explain to her our situation and why we decided to take the cat with us but she shut us down completely. Not listening to what we had to say at all. Completely dismissing the fact that we told her that the collar we had on the cat was one that WE had put on him and not one that was on him when we found him initially. Telling us that we basically kidnapped someoneβs cat and to put him back where we found him. Mind you, during this time there was terrible weather out and the following days after. Which is the reason why we took him in in the first place, afraid that he wouldnβt be able to find shelter or go back to a possible owner. We thought it was the right thing to do, but apparently to this woman, it wasnβt. We also came here with hopes that they could help us try and find an owner, check if anyone has been looking for a lost cat, all of that but did not do that at all. We were only told to post about having found the cat on different forums like βPawBoostβ and so on, which we did immediately and still have yet to hear back from anyone. We have grown incredibly fond of the little guy and will be considering adopting him if no one comes around.

So I would suggest anyone to have pet insurance ready before the adoption if you can afford it, also the condition is not related to the shelter, my rabbit was fine before I adopted him, itβs just that anything can happen so youβre better off with an insurance.

How can you not love this place. So many cute animals. And today I got a new addition to my family. Big discount for older cats too ππΉ.They have dogs, cats, and rabbits! I wish i could adopt them all!!!The staff there are very nice and professional. We thought the adoption would take a while, but it was about an hour, including waiting in line. What a deal, for a $75 fee, i got a cat, fully vaccinated, dental cleaned and chipped. And a sweet one! This is the place to adopt, look here first!I decided to add pics of the rabbits only because you all know about the cats and dogs.

Such nice people work there. Very clean. All the animals are attended to. They have extra support for after adoption. You can come and get food if you need it. Puppy training. We found our furever baby there he was spayed, microchipped, registered, first vaccinations, dewormed. We adopted a puppy named Stanley. Filled our families heart after the passing of our previous doggie.Since then our Stanley dog finished all his shots even his lepto. We do the 30mile dog walk for St JUDES children's hospital. We walk 1-2 miles or more a day. He is living his best life. Shout out to Milpitas animal shelter!

The cat I adopted from the humane society is the most sweet and adorable cat ever! I've been super impressed by the humane society staff both at the Petco Sunnyvale location as well as at their main office location. Unfortunately, my kitty ended up having ringworm and we are having to treat him which is a very difficult process. However, the humane society medical staff has gone out of their way to make sure we have everything we need and that Milo is very well taken care of. I cannot speak highly enough of their staff and their medical center staff!

Adopted our cute pupsters here! The facility is huge and has a great reputation from the reviews we read. At first we wanted to browse around but we fell in love a dog and ended up leaving with her the same day. Weekends weβre busy so we tried to avoid that and went on a Friday instead. We were the fifth ones in line and the four groups ahead of us all got dogs. If you love a dog donβt wait around chances are someone else will pick them right up. Most of them are neutered and have partial vaccines. They also included 6 weeks of puppy training complimentary. Highly recommend this place if youβre in the market for a dog.

I went to the Humane Society from the time I was a second grader to go to summer camp, all the way until I was an eighth grader. Iβve been a camp counselor for two years and volunteer doing service work year round. HSSV is one of the best places to learn and grow and connect with our community. Just before Christmas (2018) we adopted our first puppy from HSSV. The staff were wonderful and helpful and made sure we knew what we needed to before we adopted. The Humane Society of Silicon Valley provides great resources and facilities and is a wonderful place!

What a great place to find a family pet. We adopted our first puppy from here today and all of the staff took great care of us. We were able to walk in and see what puppies they had available (didnβt have an appointment, so Iβm glad it wasnβt busy at the time). We checked their website in advance but once we found a puppy we liked online, it seemed like they were listed as adopted afterwards. So we just decided to go have a look in person. We visited with 3 different puppies, and left with an adorable new family member. They even have a small pet store there, which came in handy because we didnβt think weβd leave with our puppy the same day (so we needed some basic supplies). If youβre looking to adopt a new pet then definitely consider going here.

Best organized shelter in the Bay area. Easy to adopt. Very good price vet clinic onsite.I prefer to vaccinate my cats here and cash make donations than pay huge vaccination prices in hospital.Note. Clinic appointment is required

We love the Humane Society. We have gotten a puppy and our three cats from them and have fostered for them. Being in rescue for over 12 years, I have dealt with some of these people for over 18 years. What a great facility! Thank you for all you do!

I can't imagine a nicer and more dignified shelter for animals. It's extremely good and highly recommend donating or adopting from here!
Gina Gonzales
It is a very nice facility!I like the βroomsβ each animal has! They are SO MUCH NICER than the standard cages most places have. The wait seemed extra long this time, over an hour if I wanted to go into one of the personal rooms to meet one on one with a dog. Not sure if they were short staffed (on 2-18-24)?Would DEFINITELY recommend this location! Too bad all animal shelters arenβt this nice!
christina lanier
Adopted my baby from here. They were so kind and let me adopt her 20 minutes before they closed. I love this place and the way they care for their animals.
Grace Lee
A very clean and friendly shelter environment, with proper partitions and living supplies for cats/kittens, dogs/puppies and pocket pets (eg rabbit). It allows potential adopters to interact with animals with high flexibility and get to know them better. They have a well-established foster program and systematic management for these rescued animals. It is highly recommended for individuals with adoption or rescue needs to come here. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in the bay area.

Absolutely amazingly caring staff! Lucky enough to be in the area for their spay/neuter program. I have also been there for their euthanasia service which in my emotional state at the time having to let go, they made me feel better because of how they treat people and their family (pets). Definitely recommended overall. Check them out.

We went in to see a dog I'd seen on their website. When we got there we discussed why we were there and the dog we were looking at. The person who helped us really listened and actually recommend a different dog.. I admit I felt sorry for the dog we'd come to see, but we saw him being handled outside of his pen and he was like a kangaroo on steroids! The enviroment I work in would allow dogs, but a couple of the folks would NEVER be able to handle a dog like that around due to physical restrictions! They set us up with a meet and greet and within the hour we were a happy little family again! This new dog is a Beagle/Border Collie mix and is two years old. The previous owner had given up on her.. We wont! We were a little concerned when within 15 hours of ownership she started this horrible cough! We knew there was a dog flu going around and so the next day took her in.We were told to come back an hour later because she hadn't even been in our care for 24 hours. The exam went well and antibiotics were given. I'd never heard of "Kennel Cough" before.. It's a combination of Germs and bacteria from a lot of animals in a single place. Goes away in about a week to three weeks. Please check with your Vet, don't take my word for it! All in all we are very pleased and would recommend the SPCA for good animals in a human world that need a little help, love and patience!God bless

It is literally a 5-star facility for animals is every respect. The infrastructure is par excellence and so is the staff and their services. I found a stray cat and brought him in when we couldn't find his owner. I worried about his well being and stopped by a few days later to check on him after he was neutered and put up for adoption. I was beyond impressed. The cat was visibly content in their care. His enclosure had everything he possibly needed and more, including large windows for natural light so he could look outside, cat tree, cat toys, etc. The volunteers I talked to genuinely cared. My mind is blown.

My folks adopted Gertie almost two weeks ago and we are so grateful. HSSV is clean, friendly, organized and bright beautiful place to meet your next family member.

Received a call to adopt our neonatal kitten along with another kitten they had raised together during foster care. We definitely advocate for adopting two kittens together. It's comforting to know they can keep each other company when no one is home. They're always together, whether playing or sleeping, which is adorable. But don't worry, they still give us plenty of attention and affection too. We believe it also helped them learn how to socialize properly, when to retract their claws, distinguish between good and bad behaviors, and use the litter box correctly. They quickly learned good behaviors, and now they don't mind belly rubs and follow us around for pets. The adoption process was exciting and seamless. I had the chance to walk around and see all the other animals as well. They simply took my phone number and called me when the front desk was available to assist with the paperwork.I'm not sure if the people who fostered the kittens will see this, but this is for the two kittens registered as Neo and Fang. Just wanted to share some photos of these two and extend a big thank you for your time, dedication, and love (and, of course, to all those who make up the HSSV!).

The best rescue I've ever seen! The dogs and cats all have good sized rooms and get a lot of love, attention. Clean rooms (immaculate) with clean beds and blankets and plenty of toys! The outside play yard is amazing! I was so impressed I gave the facility a donation when we left. We aren't quite ready to adopt, but when we are we will come back and find the perfect puppy! If you are looking for a new pet please do yourself a favor and go here! I promise you won't be disappointed.

Madera animal shelter picked up my dog coyotito and named him "papi" by the time I checked the shelter they already shipped him here lol i got him back the next week and he looked so well taken care of. Thanks to this place for taken care of our family rascal and providing him chip and shots.1

Took the ferals here for the trap neutered and release (TnR) program. If you have feral cats issues in your community, this is the place to go to. Free and friendly service to Santa Clara County residents including spayed/neuter, vaccines, deworm and deflea on feral cats. Stabilize the feral population by stopping breeding.

So happy with my experience adopting Savannah! The process was quick and easy, and since someone sponsored her adoption it ended up mostly free

Awesome place to adopt cats, dogs and even rabbitsπ. The staff is very helpful, very professional and extremely welcoming. I super recommend Humane Society to anyone serious about committing themselves to adopting or fostering.

Dropped off a trio of just born kittens we found in the engine bay of a car. Staff were helpful and took them in to give them the care and attention they needed.Facility is clean and modern with ample parking and well-labelled entrances. Happy we have such a service available.

We were lucky enough to find Raazi through PetFinder. After some inquiry and meeting her, it was a match! She is perfect in every way. We are excited to see her and our other pups start to play and bond. Welcome to your forever home sweet girl! β€ππ₯°

Ana Guerreiro
It has a great space for the animals and the people are fantastic! We adopted 2 cats, a female with 3 months and a male with 3 years, and they are the sweetest things.

I adopted my best friend from here and sheβs almost two now. They made the experience so wonderful and I highly recommend this place for your little fur baby

I have had the pleasure of visiting Humane Society Silicon Valley multiple times, and each visit has left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff. Their dedication to providing exceptional care for the animals, particularly the dogs and cats, was truly commendable. One of the aspects that stood out to me was the exceptional condition and care given to the animals. The facilities were clean, well-maintained, and designed with the comfort of the animals in mind. It was evident that the staff goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being of the animals under their care.Humane Society Silicon Valley not only provides a safe haven for animals in need but also plays a crucial role in finding them loving homes. The adoption process was thorough yet efficient, ensuring that the animals are placed in suitable environments with responsible owners.I wholeheartedly recommend Humane Society Silicon Valley to anyone seeking to adopt a pet or support a worthy cause. Their commitment to animal welfare, combined with their exceptional staff and top-notch facilities, make it a truly outstanding organization. My experiences there have been nothing short of amazing!

Great no kill shelter for dogs, cats and small animals. I hear itβs a solid place to volunteer too. I take my boys here sometimes to let them pet the dogs. Looking forward to getting one soon.
Patti Rowland
The issue I have is they don't have history on the dogs. I've been interested in 2 dogs both times was told they are from Central Valley shelter so we have no information. It's important to understand the environment the dog was in and any past health issues. This is especially important if it was a rescue. I think this would be a great process change. Considering taking back animals is an expensive, emotional and lengthy process, it would be helpful to have as much info on the animal as possible in order to make sure it's a match. I'm

This is such a wonderful, beautiful and caring place, nice facility and great staff. We had our kitty who passed of natural causes cremated through them, and we belong to the Pet Pantry program. His fur is growing as well. Thank you so much!!!!! We love all of you for spreading kindness.

Had the best experience out of all shelters I went to. Each animal was given a room, lots of space, well maintained, toys, cat trees and toys for every animal. They took so much care for every animal to not feel nervous.I could see that every animal had good temperament and socialized well, probably also because they were well treated. β€οΈπ»They pay a lot of attention to you, answer all your questions in detail.I saw cats being adopted in less than 10 mins. ππ»β€οΈ

It's the best place I've been to in long time. Excellent floor plan and space for all animals. The employees were super helpful and you can tell they care about there animals. I went there to just look at the dogs cause I'm a army veteran with PTSD and was looking for a dog. I ended up walking away from there with a 3 month old puppy.. they are military friendly and have excellent offers for veterans.. sorry I didn't take pictures of the actual place but here some pictures of my baby girl I took home. Please go there if you are looking to adopt an animal. You will not be disappointed. I love this place...!!!!!!

I so appreciate this wonderful organization. We rescued a small white kitten that was dumped in our neighborhood. Had an appointment to get her fixed. Ended up getting out and got pregs. Had 6 kittens. Able to rehome 2. Now the amazing part. Saw that the Humane Society of Silicon Valley was providing a mobile spay and neuter service. Took 5 cats in at 7am, picked them up at 3pm. Fixed, flea treatment, nails clipped and a tracking chip. Okay, sit down. FREE. FREE. FREE. FREE. FREE. We made a very small donation. And none of them had to be put down. Yay!!
Brian Lagman

Yevgeniy Urdenko
Best organized shelter in the Bay area. Easy to adopt. Very good price vet clinic onsite.I prefer to vaccinate my cats here and cash make donations than pay huge vaccination prices in hospital.Note. Clinic appointment is required

We love the Humane Society. We have gotten a puppy and our three cats from them and have fostered for them. Being in rescue for over 12 years, I have dealt with some of these people for over 18 years. What a great facility! Thank you for all you do!
Aakansha Lund
V33J S
Absolutely amazingly caring staff! Lucky enough to be in the area for their spay/neuter program. I have also been there for their euthanasia service which in my emotional state at the time having to let go, they made me feel better because of how they treat people and their family (pets). Definitely recommended overall. Check them out.

We just adopted "Sol" now Frankie the 8 yr old Chihuahua. The Humane Society of Silicon Valley is well organized and professional. They clearly take great care of the animals as they seek their forever homes. We spoke to three people, one at the front desk, one volunteer who showed us the dog and another who helped with the paperwork. All were SUPER friendly and clearly care about what they do. We are overjoyed to have Frankie. In the few minutes he has been home he hasnt stopped wagging his little tail.
Elissa Benjamin
The staff is very friendly and helpful. It took us several tries to find the right dog, but the counselor (Melissa) was never pushy, and always have her honest opinion. She really tried to help us find a puppy that matched our lifestyle and would be good with our cat. The check in process even you actually adopt is simple and straight forward, and the building was clean. They offer free training classes for puppies, which is awesome, and are very responsive to questions. Great shelter, great staff, great dogs!!
Ashley Hu
Great staff that really take the time to help you find your furry companion. We adopted our chunky boy from here 2 years ago and are looking to adopt another

I love this shelter a lot compared so some others that I visited. Volunteers and employees are friendly! They offer some discounts to adoption fees which are great as well. The dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs are adorable!

Great experience adopting a dog from here. Super helpful staff, well cared for animals in their time of need, good information regarding introducing our new puppy to our older dog. Adoption came with 6 training sessions that we will start soon.

Last year they messed up while giving vaccination to my 1 year dog. Can you believe they gave (4+1) vaccinations on same day despite me asking will that be okay for a small dog. My dog didnβt have reactions but was in a lot of pain later that night for which Iβd to take him to urgent care and my regular vet prescribed pain medication and suggested to separate vaccinations next time. Despite their sloppy job last year, I wanted to go here due to close proximity to home and reasonable cost. When I openly shared my experience from last time and asked to separate the vaccinations they agreed at first initially and charged my card. After a minute they had a change of mind and turned me away. The supervisor recommended to go to my personal vet clinic and mentioned that their center is for mass vaccinations only! (probably because they donβt trust their own nurses with their jobs) or put their one and done methodology before the pets needs. What kind of inhumane society is this. Wasted my time and pushed out my dogs vaccinations by at least a month. Donβt recommend going here if you really care for your pet. If you do, donβt share your experience as itβll be used against you!

There are so many cute animals here. They are all very sweet, but lonely sometimes. I would highly recommend people to go there and check out the animals.

We have searched for the perfect fur baby for a year now, from getting email alerts about new dogs, even drove all the way to Boise id to see a dog but came back empty handed, till we went to humane society of silicon valley. The facility was the most up kept and best one we been to yet and the staff were wonderful and helpful, and all the wonderful things they do and offer the animals is awesome, we ended up adopting a 3.5 month girl puppy they called hibiscus, witch we going to change but not sure to what yet that day, they gave us a lot of good information and it cool they include 6 free weeks of puppy training with the adoption. We are happy to have our new fur baby, and wish we could take them all home

Awesome place! Very clean and lots of cats and dogs to adopt. Great staff + volunteers with lots of training classes for you and your pup. Wonderful medical center for some annual shots. Not a full medical center for public though. Love the groomer, Rachel, and have been coming here regularly for years. Can count on her to be gentle with the nails and bath so our pup comes out happy and clean with a beautiful hair cut.

Really glad to have a place like this for animals like dogs and cats primarily. There are always bad people who abuse or abandon their pets and we are glad to see there is a place like this to save them. Well organized and well planned. My kids love this see this place and the animals they shelter. At least they donβt have to stay outside and risk their life everyday. Also happy to see so many people here to adopt or support this place.Do not have pets if you cannot take care of them. You are their all of all and without you, you are sentencing your pets to death penalty.Love the animals and be responsible.

Truly the best place to adopt a pet, as well as to train and learn about your pets. More than just a shelter, HSSV has so much to offer the community!

Visited for the first time today and was thoroughly impressed with this facility. The staff were incredibly helpful and the pets were obviously well cared for and loved. It was immaculately clean and the grounds were gorgeous. I will definitely be adopting my next pet and donating annually to the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. These places tend to be rather emotional for me but I left comforted that all the adoptable pets here were in caring hands. Much respect to everyone who contributes to this amazing organization.

My fiancee was just trying to get our cats checked, when this employee named Katie was rude and spoke to everyone there like were children. By the sound of it, she manipulated the line and how many people could get seen. So in short that caused my fiancee to not only waste gas going there, but wasting her time because she wasn't able to get our cats seen even though she was there at the right time! Whoever this Katie is, you owe my fiancee and everyone there an apology and I hope your supervisor finds out about this and disciplines you!!!
Diana Krygier
A loving place to say goodbye to a loved pet, as their euthanasia program is thoughtfully performed.

They let me visit the same dogs multiple times to make up my mind. The atmosphere was very open, and I liked how clearly the employees communicated with each other, with "I have a sensitive dog!" and "dog coming!" to warn each other. They also have vaccine appointments on the same location.

To the female with the hair bun and the doc marten boots, please learn how to speak kindly and professionally to people who walk through your doors and not be so rude and condescending, and basically kicking them out. We definitely did not appreciate that. The point is to help people feel happy, informed and comfortable about adopting a pet and not feeling like your social demeanor is so horrible they never want to come to this shelter.Otherwise, this shelter has very knowledgeable and friendly staff members, not to mention the animals are clearly in great care. We're still looking forward to coming back and finding our match for the perfect pet for us.

Have gotten our last 4 dogs from HSSV. They shared 5, 12 & current yrs with us. Last girl just turned 13, she came to us as an 11 yr old. Full of love and energy. Best place for pets in our opinion!!

The nicest shelter I've been to. The dogs are kept in quiet and clean cells and have plenty of time with the volunteers. They also offer training! We've been learning dog sports through HSSV and the instructors are fantastic.

Great place. The staff are really friendly and are extremely patient in answering all questions. Their website is also uptodate with all information. The dog seem happy and healthy. They have a big play/training area where we saw several of the dogs up for adoption playing and having fun. A spacious, clean and well maintained facility!

Staff are super friendly and helpful. Great place to visit if looking to adopt an animal, even if you're not completely committed yet. We went in w/o appointment and interacting with some cats helped us to learn about different cats and their activity levels which helps us to make the right decision.

Used to volunteer walking the dogs here. I loved it. The place is clean, the volunteers and staff clearly love dogs, the dogs are not in cages. They have their own rooms with a bed raised off the floor. The volunteer program is flawlessly organized. AND it is a no kill shelter. On the rare occasion a dog has to be put down due to serious biting, they take it very very seriously, let the volunteers know ahead of time so they are not shocked. I moved away or would still be there. Now Im back in San Jose looking to adopt a dog..and I was shocked that the shelters have very few dogs. That is good for the dogs, but makes it hard to find "the one". Oh well..patience is a virtue!

The facility is brand new and beautifully constructed. It has ample parking. There is a private dog park for members only. This location always has plenty of dogs, rabbits, and cats looking for loving homes. The animals always look happy and healthy. I have been a foster parent for years and the vets are very friendly and accommodating.

Wonderful staffs. Easy process. I wish our place was big enough to bring 2 babies home with us. We got our baby kitty here :) his name was Jack. We rename him Payton. He's having a good time. Thanks so much!!! Highly recommend this Place to anyone looking for a pet :)

I recommend making an appointment. It made the process of kitten adoption easier and less stressful. I only visited the kitten/ cat side but it was very clean and the cats seemed happy and playful. I have had my fur babies (2 of them- Tia and Spencer) for about eight months now and they have both remained happy and healthy.

Kathleen Catalano
Adopted Eclipse last week. Great little cat fitted for her sister Luna to play and grow old with!!

Vee Trairattanapa
We live in Mountain View, but go all the way here for puppy shots and microchip. People here are great! Make sure you have appointment beforehand (2-3 weeks in advance) The place is clean and beautiful. I'll bring my puppy for training here too. Recommend this to everyone!

I went to the gathering at Happy Hollow, where I met Katie. My dog Buddy had teeth issues & I could not find a Vet to take him until after December. When I rescued Buddy he was pretty much a street dog. I have had him for 6 years now. His teeth have been rotting since we got him. Long story short, Katie said she would help us try & get him in to see a dog dentist. After a few weeks, I had my 1st visit. I met with Dr. Jen, who was really concerned. After a week of several medications, it was time to have his teeth checked. Well they ended up taking all his teeth out. They treated him with love. He is back to normal, running around & happy. This place is the best. Thank you so much for bringing back my little Buddy.

Shelters can be sad and ominous places, so to see this place was more like a good dream. The facility is very clean and well staffed, the 'kennels' are homely and the animals themselves do not look like they are about to cry. They got us started with tons of information on which type of vaccines and surgery our new puppy had received and still needed. We will come back to adopt another in the future!

This is a great Humane Society with wonderful classes. If you want to understand dogs, I highly recommend Trish Kings classes.

A wonderful adoption center and learning facility. The animals here are treated so well, and the staff here clearly care a ton about animals. We adopted a kitten through one of their satellite adoption centers, and the process was easy. They have a great training program for fostering animals and volunteering in office, and the main office is a beautiful facility that is well maintained. You couldn't pick a better place to adopt from, donate money to, or take obedience classes at.

My boyfriend and I were browsing on the website for some time before we actually went to the shelter and looked at the puppies that they had for adoption.Procedures in adopting were very easy , it takes some time tho since there were only a couple of people helping with the adoption process. The staff were very friendly and clear on almost everything. Please do a little bit of research on getting pets before actually getting one. It will seriously help both you and your future baby. Also weekends are always packed (if you do go on a weekend go early because there's a line of people) and be ready to be there for about 2hrs or more.

Cecilia Sternzon
Truly the best place to adopt a pet, as well as to train and learn about your pets. More than just a shelter, HSSV has so much to offer the community!
Kimberly Kreider
They are really doing great work over there! We adopted Penny and attended the training course, and I have only nice things to say!

My family adopted two kittens here. The volunteers and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We went on a weekend so it was busy. Make an appointment! The facility is clean and the animals are separated by little rooms. It was a great experience and we love our new babies.
Kristie Adrian
They are the best! The staff are super friendly and helpful. It's clear that everyone truly cares about the animals and mission of the organization.

I had the dreaded task of needing to put my beloved Blaze down due to health reasons. As HORRIBLE as that was the staff was beyond my expectations. The compassion wasnβt fake nor was caring. When itβs time to get another best friend I will be coming back

Sara Taylor
They let me visit the same dogs multiple times to make up my mind. The atmosphere was very open, and I liked how clearly the employees communicated with each other, with "I have a sensitive dog!" and "dog coming!" to warn each other. They also have vaccine appointments on the same location.

Amazingly helpful and friendly staff. They were quick to greet us and provide us with the information we need.During my last visit I ended up adopting an adorable cat named Cotton. The staff there were excited and sad to see him go, but still gave me all the info I needed to help provide him with a forever home. Heather, the girl at the front desk, kept the mood high and answered all my questions promptly.

First of all my 1 star review goes to a specific adoption counselor. I wish I could give this facility 10 stars for the wonderful volunteers and the staff that cares for the animals. This shelter is very clean and all the animals look very comfortable. Ok back to my experience... On Sunday my kids and I went to adopt a cat. We had a wonderful time bonding with the cats we wanted to adopt. We proceeded to talk with adoption counselor. She asked all the standard questions and then she asked if we had a dog. I replied yes and she asked if the dog was indoor or outdoor, I said my dog is both indoor and outdoor. She immediately got defensive and kept hounded me and speaking poorly to me about how me keeping my dog outside sometimes is harmful. Now I understand they have a job to do in placing the animals in the best home possible but she was doing more then her job she was downright rude. She made my older daughter cry because she scared her and we were not able to proceed with the adoption of the cats we fell in love with. This story does have a happy ended because after 3 hours at the shelter we finally were able to find out new fur babies and a new adoption counselor helped us and was great!
Samantha Leach
I have adopted all of my rescues here. I also volunteer and foster for HSSV. It is a top notch place!

Everyone I met with was so kind, from the front desk, to opening the cat room, to the adoption process. We love our kitty already. We will definitely be coming back to this exact location when we are ready for a dog! Volunteers & employees - thank you for all you do.

My girlfriend and I adopted a dog named Horton on March 25th, 2023 from HSSV. They claimed he was healthy but when we took him home we noticed right away there was something wrong since he was occasionally coughing.First we thought he was just adjusting to a new environment but got worried so we decided to take him to a veterinarian on March 27th, 2023 where they did a general exam and noticed his lungs were a bit raspy. They wanted to perform x-rays for his lungs but our pet insurance hasn't gone through yet, so we decided to just pay for the antibiotics and cough tablets at the time.He seemed very lethargic for a 4 month old puppy, and we wanted to reach a diagnosis so we decided to take him to a different veterinarian on March 29th, 2023. This is where they decided to do a PCR test to check for viral infections and xrays to check for his lungs again. The x-rays of his lungs came back fine and they told us they would contact us in 3 days for the PCR test results.Today March 31st, 2023 they called us back with results they have never seen before. Our puppy that we adopted from HSSV was diagnosed with 4 different viral infections. These infections consisted of Canine Distemper Virus, Boardetella Bronchiseptica, Canine Parainfluenza Virus, and Canine Pneumovirus. We've also contacted HSSV for help in the span of these few days of having our puppy and all they can say is they can't help us because we signed a waiver and that we're on our own.

Humane Society of Silicon Valley has cremation services which we've used twice in the past when our beloved pets passed away. Reasonable cost, very nice pet urn, other options as well for keepsakes of your pet (paw impressions, lots of URN selections). We have also *always* adopted our pet dogs from HSSV San Jose & Milpitas.

I adopted a kitten called Gigi one week ago. The consultant claimed that she has recovered from several conditions like upper respiratory infection. I trusted her. But obviously Gigi is still sneezing and tearing. Sheβs very weak. And she got a swollen on her jaw. I took her to ER and the doctor told me it is caused by the infection. This is ridiculous. This makes this place untrustworthy at all. They should not put a sick kitten outside for people to choose. They should not tell us a sick kitten is a heathy. They should not send a sick kitten out and pretend it is nothing to do with them. Gigi is still at the ER. I canβt imagine what will happen if she cannot recover.

We reached out to the Humane Society when we couldn't get the schedule we needed with our regular veterinary provider. We're so glad their staff called back promptly.Letting our beloved pet go was a tough decision for us. The Humane Society made the process so much more stress-free, comforting, and dignified. Thank you for accommodating our wishes at the time we needed it.

Nicest animal shelter I've ever seen. Each dog has it's own large room. There are private rooms to meet your prospective pet. Adoptions of puppies include a six week training course.

Love this shelter. Staff is super friendly there's a huge fenced area for the dogs to play, hard to explain you gotta see it!? Right now any dog 6+ months $20 adoption fee, I think until the end of the month!!

Great place. We adopted a healthy puppy named Jazz. Very pleased with the services and advices that we have received from the staff at Humane Society silicon Valley. Still have to go through the training lessons received in the adoption process. Highly recommended place for pet adoption. Thank you.

I adopted a puppy and the staff were very nice. When I took her to the animal vet to get some of her vaccinations (this wasn't the one at the shelter), they said the veterinarians did a good job on examining her. The only thing I was disappointed about was she came home flea infested. I know that it's not their responsibility but I think shelters should treat fleas on the animals before letting them go up for adoption. The other thing was they didn't tell me she had fleas knowing she did and so the puppy ended up giving my other two cats fleas. Overall it was a good experience and many tips were given. If you are adopting a puppy, expect to pay $375. Another thing is if your puppy hasn't gotten its vaccinations (most likely hasn't), you have to pay a couple more hundred dollars for it.
drake sadosky
Clean facility with skilled staff. The adoption process was easy, understandable, and quick. We were able to visit puppies we were interested in, and take them out for a walk/play to get a better understanding of their personality.I recommend HSSV to anybody that is looking to adopt. If you are a responsible pet parent, HSSV will help you find your pet

My cousin had to put one of her dogs down because he had had a stroke. The staff was truly amazing. Raiders final moments were handled very well. My cousin felt better after making such a difficult decision. You can tell the staff love their jobs and are good at what they do.

Doesnβt serve Milpitas even though it is in Milpitas have to go to San Jose. Even for appointments very not helpful with anything either had to wait while they were on the phone and just got redirected.

What a fantastic experience it was adopting our tiny little fur baby from HSSV, Milpitas. Cleanliness of this center is top-notch. We brought our tuxedo kitten home when she was a few months old. Our kitten is now a healthy & happy adult cat. The whole process of adoption was so transparent including kittenβs background (she was found stray), her medical records, her food habits and her personality traits. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. I truly appreciate HSSV following up with me few times after adoption making sure both kitten & we were bonding okay. It really helped me being a first time pet parent. Thank you HSSV for saving these precious animals and doing everything needed to match them with right families. πππ»

This is an impressive facility with caring employees and volunteers. Besides taking in stray animals, they really work with the community to make a better place for animals. They have a vet clinic, puppy classes, fantastic dog play areas, pet store, etc. It's really easy to view adoptable pets. They also have a great volunteer and foster program providing good education. Foster parents are provided with everything needed to foster including food, cat litter, toys, etc

I adopted my pug mix mutt from this shelter 3 years ago. He has been such a wonderful addition for me. When i adopted him he had a small case of kennel cough that antibiotics was able to clear up. He is my spoiled baby boy and i love him so much. I would definitely consider adopting from this shelter again when iβm ready for another addition. Easy process, workers seem to really care for there residents there, It was a great experience.

Clean and well kept facilities. The place is huge with separate surrender and adoption areas. The staff is patient and supportive and the animals are well looked after. I asked to see 5 dogs before deciding on an adoption and they never rushed me.One star docked because they were VERY late in sending us the puppy's vaccination record, which resulted in confusion at the vet. Now we have to restart the flu vaccination cycle because of their tardiness.
Joy Hoshi-Goosmann
We brought our rescue dog hair because the vaccination prices are far better than at our private vets office. The front desk person was very helpful. However the office was very chaotic and we had no idea that the weight would be so long.
Concepcion Martell
Each of the staff that helped us were magnificent, caring, and knowledgeable of the pets they're in charge of. We adopted a kitty, Quin; we renamed her Queenie. She's blossomed so much, from shy to very loving!

This place is pretty big and there's a decent amount of selections in animals. The volunteers are very attentive and gave really good advice. I liked how they also had a classroom area on one side of the building. The parking here is a bit cramped though. There's two rows that are designated for workers.

I used to work around the corner from this location. One year not too long ago after the death of our dog, my wife found a new puppy to consider. When I came down here to check her out, the staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the dog and everything I would need to know. We did adopt that dog and she stayed with us until her death. This place has my full support.

They are great people and have really good programs to help people and their animals. Also, have beautiful animals to adopt. Highly recommend. Thank you all for your help with my animals. God bless.

This is the first shelter I've ever been to and it was absolutely fantastic! The facility is very clean and gives ample space for all the animals and for you to get to know a potential pet one-on-one with some space. I interacted with 4 different staff members (some or all of whom were volunteers) and they were the nicest people and cared about their work there. I would recommend this shelter to anyone looking to adopt their next pet!

Very clean and the staff/volunteers were helpful as well. There are lots of puppies and dogs they also have classes there where you can learn how to better take care of your dog and or cat. My girlfriend and I went to see the kittens, they didn't have many so we'll keep looking. This one wasn't crowded at all,& yes hey are doing a fine job sticking to a COVID-19 FREE ENVIRONMENT.π

Very nice and clean facility. We did not adopt any animals here but the staff are always friendly. Adoption fees are higher compares to San Mateo and East Bay. Our female maltepom were spayed here recently and everything went well. Post surgery healed as expected.

This is the second rescue at HSSV for me in the last 15 years. I'm so thankful for the great work of all of the staff and administration. Their level of care for all of these beautiful animals in need, is exceptional. Thank you for what you do!! And, thank you for allowing me to adopt my tuxedo kitten, Puddy Tat. He has brighten my life.

This story does have a happy ended because after 3 hours at the shelter we finally were able to find out new fur babies and a new adoption counselor helped us and was great!

We took our 2 year old small husky to this Humane Society to get neutered. It was a horrible experience overall. Let me give you the reasons:1. They made our dog have complete anesthesia, when it was not necessary. They were afraid only because our dog was uncomfortable at the beginning, and they took no time to make her feel at ease before starting to handle her. My boyfriend told them she is a little scared around big people and they took it personally and charged us another $100 to put her to sleep.2. When they shaved her belly, they were very careless which resulted in many razor cuts, irritation, and bleeding.3. A day later, we noticed our dog had acquired an ear infection from being in the Humane Society kennel. We had to go to another vet and spend a lot of money to get rid of the infection and treat the cuts on her belly. We paid much more overall than if we took her to get neutered at a normal veterinarian.

I had my young 4 month old puppy, Nala, spayed here free of cost due to my housing location. ( and other qualifications) They where very polite and gave us pain meds as well as what to expect. I was even able email their medical staff some pictures of her incision site to insure correct healing and they responded in less than 24 hrs. In my experience, they are very reliable and good people at heart. I would go to them anytime.

I can't thank the staff here enough, the ladies were so kind and offered to take in my kitten for adaption on the basis that i paid cash which was not an issue, just needed a safe home for my little girl. I'm giving a solid recommendation here to anyone thinking of visiting this place and the service they are likely to recieve will be excellent.I miss my tabby so much but have peace of mind they will do the right thing and give her a safe home to enjoy the rest of her life. Thank you.

I lost my job due to the pandemic. I was thinking that I might have to give up my cat Bongo for adoption because I was worried about affording all his expenses for his upkeep. Luckily, with the help of HSSV's Pet Pantry program I don't have to worry about that anymore. For those unfamiliar, I am eligible to pick up food(and sometimes litter) every 30 days, Thursday-Saturday. I was also told during my first Pet Pantry food pick-up that they could also provide free vaccines if needed. I didn't need one at the time, but a couple weeks later I got a postcard from the vet notifying me that Bongo was due for a respiratory vaccine and a leukemia vaccine. They stopped doing leukemia vaccines, but I was able to get him the respiratory vaccine, free of charge. The vet was masked, and when I brought him in, I waited about five minutes before Bongo was called up. Then they took him in, and he was back out in less than five minutes, super quick and easy. Everyone, especially Sarah, has been really gracious and kind. Overall I'm very grateful for the services they provide for bonded family members during the pandemic.

We euthanized my sonβs bunny who had a seizure. The people were so kind, gave us the option to stay with her and explained what was going to happen. We were so happy to be with Bailey, stroking her nose. The people were so kind and gentle.

Staff and Vets are awesome, my Chubby was taken good care of during surgery and after, staff are so polite and respectful. Gave us all info needed and more. Taking our Peaches soon for vaccination. Thank you so much.

It was my first time going and it was such an amazing experience. The volunteers are very nice and informative. The cats and dogs are adorable. There are all kinds of personalities and ages. Will definitely be going back to adopt :)

I love this place. Our family has enlarged our family with HSSV. The training facilities and staff are amazing. You can adopt a dog, cat, or a rabbit. You can buy pet supplies in the shop. There is a veterinarian facility on site for all of the vaccines and spay/neuter. Every one that works here loves their jobs

A great humane society to help people adopting pets.

Beautiful facility with about everything for animals. They have intake and adoption services, a veterinarian, and a pet store. They have a pet pantry to help feed pets for those in financially tough spots. It looks like they may have an area for education. The area for pet runs for the care of the animals is beautiful. Any animal would love it.
Robert Baskin
Nicest animal shelter I've ever seen. Each dog has it's own large room. There are private rooms to meet your prospective pet. Adoptions of puppies include a six week training course.
Amy Williams
Love this shelter. Staff is super friendly there's a huge fenced area for the dogs to play, hard to explain you gotta see it!? Right now any dog 6+ months $20 adoption fee, I think until the end of the month!!
Tarik KadiΔ

Sarah Black
I adopted my pug mix mutt from this shelter 3 years ago. He has been such a wonderful addition for me. When i adopted him he had a small case of kennel cough that antibiotics was able to clear up. He is my spoiled baby boy and i love him so much. I would definitely consider adopting from this shelter again when iβm ready for another addition. Easy process, workers seem to really care for there residents there, It was a great experience.

Most shelters do proper interviews to be sure that the animals are going to proper homes. This location did not. Then they try to guilt trip. Would recommend a different location.
Matt Engstrom
This place is great. Their organization of the dogs and rooms were disorganized but they figured it out. Be aware, the price to adopt a puppy is 8 weeks to 6 months is around $300. For dogs 6 months or older is $20. Seams a little pricy for a 8 week puppy but it includes 6 weeks of behavior classes, shots, chip and spay or neutering.
Rachiyta Raina
Took my shih tzu here during peak summer and he came back absolutely ready to rock the summers. The place has a decent amount of waiting but for a place like this it's absolutely worth it. The humane society is just such a happy place . The people working at the grooming center were very pleasant and courteous.Parking was not an issue at all.I had to book an appointment over an email and that works out better for me rather than being put on hold for hours before someone answers my call.So glad I found this place. We will back again here in a few months.
Jan Pensa
Staff is fantastic. You can foster animals and foster dogs for a weekend out adventure. Loving and top of the class care and certification. HSSV will do it's best to protect, evaluate and rehab animals before euthanasia. Donations are always welcome.

One of the best places to adopt your furry friends in the bay area. Clean and quiet environment for animals. Staff are happy to provide any info you need.
Kathleen Kennelly
The staff was friendly, attentive, and Informative; and they showed me that they were also concerned for my kitty, which made feel better, knowing that she was gonna be okay. Thanks to everyone at the Humane Society for all your hard work and attention to my little Frisky kitty.
Johanna Kimura
This humane society location is very modern and clean. The animals have play time together and have a park where they can play. I adopted my 10 yr old chihuahua here and she seemed well taken care of and they have her all necessary vaccinations before she was put up for adoption.
Ki Eun Pyo
Although I'm not a cat savvy, I wanted to adopt a cat. I would say that this is a perfect place for trying out cat adoption (although the adoption fees are higher than other shelters) especially if you are adopting cat for the first time. The facility is pretty new, each cat is not caged but they are roomed, several well-informed volunteers give you tips on the personality of each cat, and you get to know the cat by playing inside the cozy room.
Deetje Frederick
The facility is great, they are taking all COVID precautions to keep everyone and the dogs safe. Staff is amazing and work well with everyone. Adopting from here is so nice and they do their best to pair dogs with appropriate homes.
Cat Lee Ball
Wonderful humane society that get local animals, plus animals from smaller towns outside the bay that weren't getting adopted at their local shelters. Kind, professional staff with nice volunteer opportunities, including a doggy day out program where you take a dog out to play from 9am to 1pm. Animals move quickly at this shelter, if you're looking to adopt a specific animal, you'll need to be on your toes and act fast.
Natalie K
Elizabeth T
This place is pretty big and there's a decent amount of selections in animals. The volunteers are very attentive and gave really good advice. I liked how they also had a classroom area on one side of the building. The parking here is a bit cramped though. There's two rows that are designated for workers.
Kent Smith
I used to work around the corner from this location. One year not too long ago after the death of our dog, my wife found a new puppy to consider. When I came down here to check her out, the staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the dog and everything I would need to know. We did adopt that dog and she stayed with us until her death. This place has my full support.
Denise Chavez
They are great people and have really good programs to help people and their animals. Also, have beautiful animals to adopt. Highly recommend. Thank you all for your help with my animals. God bless.

This is the first shelter I've ever been to and it was absolutely fantastic! The facility is very clean and gives ample space for all the animals and for you to get to know a potential pet one-on-one with some space. I interacted with 4 different staff members (some or all of whom were volunteers) and they were the nicest people and cared about their work there. I would recommend this shelter to anyone looking to adopt their next pet!
C βBit'meβ Burnett

I found a Dog wandering around my neighbothood, She was extremely skinny and looked tired. I gave her some food and water and looked online for a shelter (as much as I wanted to keep her, I already have too many pets) I came across this place and took her there right away. Its a great looking facility and the staff were very helpful. Luckily the owner of the dog I found was able to get her back the next day.

VERY well equipped and staffed Humane Society. We, and one of our neighbors on another day, both came back with a *wonderful* pet that had been well cared for and was ready for their "forever home".
Cheryl Rudlaff
We got a precious 5 yr old Chihuahua Pug mixed dog. We named him Max. He is potty trained, very well behaved n very friendly. They said he was a stray but he is way to well mannered to be a stray. And sits on demand. We love our little guy! The people were so helpful in helping us find just the right dog for our family. Thank you!!
Mats Gunnarsson
People and the facilities are great. Easy to meet animals and get aquinted before deciding if it is for you.

We adopted our pup here, the process was easy, smooth, and affordable. They also offer free six lessons of puppy training if you adopt there. The twice a week puppy socials are very helpful as well.

Best shelter in the world. This is where dad found me. They have an amazing staff of volunteers who love people almost as much as they love animals. The medical center and the facility are world class, and they've recieved the model shelter award for the US as well. My only complaint is I just wish they didn't have so many cats because I can't stop chasing them.
Rosa Leon
Personal is very helpful and nice. They always help us with a smile and patient with my language skills as English is my second language.

This is a place where I volunteered to take care of the dogs at the shelter. And today we went there to see a dog with the hope to adopt. Luckily we found our fur baby Ginger and the staff was really helpful in this process and very patiently they answered all our questions and helped with the adoption process. I will say please adopt don't shop.

After my dog passed away they were very understanding and helpful. They walked me through the whole process and made it as comfortable as it could be. Our dogs death was pretty traumatic and this experience helped us have closure.
