Many reviews highlight the owner, Darla, for her kindness and understanding during difficult times. However, there are some negative experiences regarding communication issues and dissatisfaction with urn options.

This was our second time using Tucson Pet Cemetery. I am beyond great full for the kindness and compassion Darla has. I know my girl is in good hands until we pick her up in a few days. Thank you for being available on a Holiday to take in our beloved family member.

I was two weeks into a road trip when I got a call from my housesitter that my dog, Theodore Roosevelt, was deceased due to negligence. I wasn’t there for his passing, and he was just a puppy. After having him frozen at VCA and going through a necropsy, he needed a quiet place to rest.I got in touch with Darla, the owner of the Pet Cemetery of Tucson, and as soon as I walked in I felt at peace. The grounds were well kept, the animals were clearly loved, I could tell I chose the right place. Upon discussion options, I settled for cremation. If you opt to necropsy a pet, this IS the only option. While I wanted to do a burial initially, Darla made the idea of cremation comfortable for me. She explained everything in great detail, down to the fact that here, your pet is not a number, they are their name and are referred to as such.Darla’s disposition was warm, inviting, and very kind. Thank you for being a guiding angel to my Theodore. He would have loved you!

Very lovely place. After my pet lizard passed away I called them to see what options I had. Darla was able to take him same day, and ensured they would take great care of him, and they did! It’s never easy losing a loved pet. But I really recommend you come here if you find yourself in that unfortunate situation. I got my pet back within a week exactly as promised.Thank you very much, it means the world to me.

The Pet Cemetery of Tucson provides a wonderful service for grieving pet owners. We have gone to them twice, and Darla is very compassionate and respectful throughout the process.

I want to give this place and Darla a 5 out of 5. I had to put my baby boy Two Face down last Thursday. I got him back today. I am so glad I came here on the recommendation of the Vet assistant I dealt with. Compared to their service which was $400+ and going to Phoenix. I got my baby cremated here for $140 and I got to drop him off here in Tucson locally. I appreciate Darla for being kind and giving us privacy with our baby. I also appreciated that she didn’t push to sell me anything extra when I went to her in a vulnerable moment. Everything I bought was because I wanted to. She was so good to us. I appreciated that she had the picking of a blessing stones and ringing of the bell tradition for our pets wings. The cemetery is also very well take care of and clean. When she told me she would take care of my baby with care and honor I believed her. I would recommend this place to anyone locally. She made this loss a lot easier. Thank you Darla and your services. We hope to not come back soon but we will if we need to.

Walked in and rang the bell. We arranged 2 paw prints one in rose and one teal of my cat. Both were written down one comes with the cremation service and the second one was paid for. The person assisting me wasn't paying attention to us at a point because the next appointment came while we were finishing up she started to rush. She left at a point to walk them in treated them differently I didn’t care at the time because everything was paid for and done said goodbye to my cat quickly and left while she assisted them. I get there the following week and they forgot the teal paw print. She forgot to give the paper to the worker that said teal on it. The bottom of the urn had a price sticker on it and when it was peeled off by them it left the bottom of the urns fabric torn. I am devastated and disappointed.

Let me start by saying job well done Darla i’ll give you a 10 star. If there was 10 stars on here I brought my precious kitty of 24 years to you Callie moore and you treated me like family even had me put my cat inside your chapel and offered to pray with me, even though it was closing time , even offered to stay after if needed to be … she took her time to listen to me between tears and a heart full of lossShe even made sure to put my kitty on a special tub tray with care I have no doubt that Callie was treatead with the most up respect. Darla took the time to do it, Paw print and cray paw printThank you again you made that a whole lot easier , even give me a special blessed rock and let me ring your send off bellThanks again

Our beloved hen died on Thanksgiving of 2023 and we were desperate not knowing where to take her. To make the story short the lady was so nice and understanding that it was more than a pet, but part of the family and she treated our Pecky like so. They gave her a proper cremation and spread her ashes on the rainbow garden. We were more than impressed we knew that that's were we want the rest of our pet animals to go when the time comes, hopefully not anytime soon.Thank you for the love and care you showed our family.

I really appreciate the care and compassion we received during this difficult time. I’m certain that my Ramses is at peace. We got the cremation and shadow box with clay paw print. A beautiful journey over the rainbow.

This is hands-down the best place to bring your pet after he or she has passed.Unfortunately one of our fur-family members passed away due to heart disease. After she passed, one of the veterinary staff members asked us if we wanted to do cremation. We said yes and asked what company does the cremation. After some searching, I realized that they are based in Phoenix, which means they are going to ship my cat to Phoenix, cremate her, then ship her back. There is a truck that comes once a week that picks up the animals. This didn’t sit well with me.After some searching, we found the Pet Cemetery of Tucson. I called them and was told I could personally bring Kira, our cat, to them. They did want to schedule a time that was only about one hour away. I believe is the right thing to do to ensure that each person gets 100% personalized attention. I told the vet we wanted to take Kira, and we drove her there ourselves. The staff at the cemetery were so wonderful, kind, respectful, and treated our pet with dignity. They walked us through everything, let us take as much time as we needed, and let us say our goodbyes to our beloved pet. On our way out, she told us to ring the bell and take a stone (I think it was a memory stone). We picked our pet’s ashes up a few days later. It was the best quality service I could have ever asked for.The Per Cemetery of Tucson is also a calm, beautiful place. My wife and I spent some time exploring the grounds and looking at the different graves. If another pet passes, we will not take our pet anywhere else. With this said, I don’t think people should use the cremation services offered by veterinarians. We never will again. For one, it’s more expensive. The cost was $140 at the Pet Cemetery of Tucson, while the veterinary hospital wanted $408. The increased cost is due to the veterinary hospital charging additional costs for profit. You also don’t know who is handling your pet. Some guy picks up a bunch of pets and ships them off. The process is very impersonal, not transparent, and you don’t know if your pet is handled with dignity and respect.

It is never easy to lose a beloved pet, but Darla at the Pet Cemetery eased the pain as much as possible for us. She returned my call quickly and gave me an appointment to bring my dog in right after he was euthanized at home by Dr. Miller. The process was smooth and the cost for communal cremation was very reasonable compared to other places. Yesterday we had a small memorial gathering at the Garden of Memories and hung my dog's collar there, where his ashes were scattered. I highly recommend this place to you, as long as Darla is there.

Caring. Helpful. Professional. Understanding. Patient. Comforting. Personable. And so much more...Pet Cemetery of Tucson is what you hope you will find when you need your pet cared for when they have passed. Can't say enough about them. You will not be disappointed.

I have had to visit Darla at The Pet Cemetery 3 times in the past 2 years. The most recent with the loss of my dog Rosie was even more painful than usual, as Rosie's death was sudden and entirely unexpected. As always, Darla was calm, caring, professional, and gave clear information about the process. I love the peaceful and beautiful grounds, and wandering the paths is comforting. The cost is quite reasonable, and service is timely. No matter how busy they are, I always get an appointment very quickly. That is appreciated and necessary, and I'm thankful Darla works 7 days a week to offer that level of availability.

Would not recommend. Darla was very rude and very hard of understanding. Very desensitized and not companionate at all

My sweet family dog passed. We called Pet Cemetery of Tucson as we used them years ago for a "private" cremation. They were kind and caring then. But that was then, and this is now. We scheduled a time to bring our little one in. The poorly dressed woman with a bossy attitude came to our vehicle. She asked if I could back my car into the platform area and if I knew how to back up my car, as many people don't know this basic skill or understand what is being asked of them. We placed our dog on their trolley to move her to the furnace area. The assistant rolled the trolley to the furnace area and started to close the metal roll-down door. We stopped the process, as we were expecting a private cremation that would begin when we arrived and that we could place our pet into the furnace and push the start button as we did with our first pet. This would be my last duty to my girl. The woman came unglued. She went on about how we never said we wanted to place our pet in the furnace, and on the same day too. She continued to say that is an option that will need to be rescheduled, and there would be an extra charge. Her whole attitude was so uncaring, demanding, curt, and unprofessional. She never informed us of our options when we called. She also never told us how long our pet would be kept in a box for a private cremation. My gut thought was that something was wrong here. What is she hiding? Are they charging for private cremations when it's really a batch cremation? Or, do they dispose of the pet in other ways—toss it in the desert, put it in a hole? How would you know? Where's the guarantee that the ashes are those of my pet?I do not recommend this service unless you don't care about your pet's remains and you like a crusty, uncaring badly dressed person with no manners. She fails at being a funeral director.

We came in without an appointment by accident but we were helped anyways with love and kindness. I know my little boys cremation will be handled with integrity and care. And a very special thank you to Darla and her cat for making this easier for us.

The most important thing to say is that the staff of the Pet Cemetery (both human and feline) treated me, my spouse, and our recently departed calico with utter kindness and respect. The cemetery itself is beautiful, and the room where the bier is placed is comfortably dim, peaceful, and invites reflection. There are a full range of services available, everything from full funerals to urns and various mementos to honor your beloved furry friend. However, nobody pressures you to buy anything or tries to hurry you along. That's one of the benefits of having an appointment. What we paid for a private cremation was $120, with ash return. It would have been less if we'd chosen to cremate our kitty in common with others, and though she still would have been treated respectfully, ultimately we decided against it. There was a lot of effort spent on making the logistics easy for us, since our grief was not. The friendly office cat helped with that, offering head bonks and friendly purrs. She does her job very well as does her human.I truly appreciate the Pet Cemetery and staff and I intend to use their services if I have need of them again.

After my pet died while I was away on vacation I needed a solution on what to do with the body. I contacted Darla at Pet Cemetery of Tucson and she gave me the rundown on how it all works and approximately what it costs. After some deliberation I decided a burial with them was my best option. I contacted Darla again and set up an appointment to meet. I rearranged my work schedule so that I would be available at the time we planned to meet. So, on the day we had planned, I came home early from work, forgoing my responsibilities, to check my email and find that a mere two hours before our appointment Darla wanted to cancel the appointment because it, get this... might rain a little bit. She also callously explained that their office was closed to the public. We could have met under the cover of the back door of my van sheltered from the "rain", we could have met at a different nearby location, and she could have temporarily opened the office so that we could quickly conduct our business. Instead, she outright refused and told me that because I was unhappy with her unprofessional behavior that I should take my business elsewhere. This is exactly what I plan to do. But first I have an obligation to inform other potential customers that they might also consider other options besides The Pet Cemetery of Tucson.

When our pet/family member Caesar passed unexpectedly we were grief stricken. It was a Sunday and when I realized I’d have to call a place to handle his remains it was already getting late in the day. I called The Pet Cemetery of Tucson 5 minutes before closing, and the woman on the other end of the line was very comforting and offered to stay open a little later so that we could take our dog Caesar in. She let us have one last goodbye with our little boy. After a couple of weeks we picked up his remains and a paw print they had made us. I hope you never need this service but when you do I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get their pets ashes back. Thank you to the staff for making this part of the process a little easier.

Darla Norrish is kind and compassionate and provides a top-notch and professional service to all of us who have lost our best friends. Her approach and demeanor made me feel as though I'd known her for years! She helped me through the deep loss I felt over saying goodbye to my 14-year-old Yorkie. The cemetery is quiet and picturesque, tucked away from all of the hurry and chaos of Tucson. She has a cat as her office manager, and her eyes twinkle with the fun of it all. There couldn't be a more perfect person or a more perfect place to help us all say farewell. I wish I could give The Pet Cemetery of Tucson more than five stars!!!!

when my dog passed away a few months ago, we found this place and they were very compassionate, careful, and understanding of how much our dog meant to the family. we received our dog back in not only a simple black urn, but the people included a tear jerking poem about the rainbow bridge of how our pets are having fun and waiting for us to come to that side when our time comes, an ink print and clay of our dog’s paw which meant the world to us. i am very glad we found this place.

We lost our beloved family dog of 9 years unexpectedly last Sunday. I called around town and no one answered. I called this place and right away was offered a same day appointment. We took our dog I signed the paperwork and paid and was on my way. Our family has been heartbroken ever since. Then today I check the mail a received a beautiful condolence card with a paw print of my dog. It bought tears of happiness and joy to our family. We now have a piece of our Dita forever. Thank you so much!

Most expensive option I could find but was hopeful to try them because of turn around time. Never coming back. I carefully wrapped my tiny 6 pound friend in linen swaddling. It was returned in a bag smelling of perfumed laundry product. Which means she was unwrapped and cremated without the flowers and herbs I'd carefully wrapped her in. I didn't want that fabric back, that was her swaddling to go to her next place in and those flowers and herbs, part of my religion, why would I want back the fabric I carefully wrapped my beloved friend's dead body in returned to me in a bag full of advertising literature? The giant plastic box her cremains were returned in had two large labels printed on cheap paper from what I assume is a printer from the 90s and really lousy walmart labels that smear when you touch them. The front label had a message on it I didn't approve and was not consulted about and the back label was a giant advertisement for their damn business!! I couldn't even get that advertising label off because it was so cheap it left adhesive on the plastic urn. So I will be buying my own urn with her name simply printed. For the price you pay here you get a better quality urn, label, no stack of marketing material and less manipulation of your beloved companion elsewhere for less money. Don't go here.

Even though I was very, very sad at the loss of my cat, Diana, I felt comforted and cared for in every aspect of dealing with Details. The staff is wonderful! I love to visit. I also appreciate their letting me drop donations for Animal Crusaders.

Was needing info on cremation and possible vet to come put a suffering dog down.Darla, your a friend of my family, but I have to say, I was really disappointed , that when I called , there was no answer , I left a voice mail.. but never had a return call.My friends were grieving, Brutus was miserable , and to load up a big dog who could no longer walk, was brutal on him as well as the family. Ill save you the busy phone calls and not refer anyone anymore !

If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate but inevitable position of losing your pet. I highly recommend The pet cemetery of Tucson. They go above and beyond in every aspect of this very painful process. Their fees are quite reasonable and so I had not expected so much. I am so very thankful for them. At every point (even when I was being hysterical) they gave my whole family comfort and care. They were there to take my call on a Sunday & provided an appointment the next day on a holiday. When I was terrified we would have no options due to the timing.

Our 10 year old Saint Bernard Dakota died Frid ay. We were worried what we were going to do with his body after he died. Then we heard about the PCOT. We went to visit before Dakota died. Darla and her staff were so compassionate The grounds are beautifulWhen the time came they came and got Dakota, the driver was so sweet. We chosegroup cremation and his ashes will be in the garden of memories. The price wasn't bad. I highly recommend this to other pet owners.I have to add this 2 weeks from the time I first wrote this review I received a refund check from PCOT because Dakota had lost a lot of weight and he didn't weigh as much as we thought. They could have kept the money and we wouldn't have known. They were so honest.

The Pet Cemetery is extremely respectful. After my cat passed, I called the Pet Cemetery to find out when I could bring him by, they were able to see us right away. After filling out some small paperwork I was able to spend some time in a separated area to say my final goodbyes. I asked for a private cremation with the remains returned and was able to get them back within a few days. I would highly recommend the Pet Cemetery when you find yourself in need. They also have large grounds with a cemetery that you can visit.

We have had a few pets pass and the owner is a very kind person that really cares for us, and our babies. I would highly recommend her to everyone, I wish there was more kind hearted people like her. Its heart breaking loosing our babies and having a professional person who understands makes a difference. ❤

Do not take your beloved pet here! I couldn't even take my best friend of 16 years here because the lady I called in the front office was so rude to my family and I. Apparently, you need to have an appointment in order to take your decomposing companion, they only accept cash or check and they don't even tell you estimates on cremation. I recommend taking your loved one to Family Pet Services (on Speedway and Alvernon) because they treated us with the upmost respect and weren't fishy about estimates about cremation, they accept cash, credit or debit, and no appointment needed! Please do your research before making your final decision!

All I can say is thank you! best experience in a really bad moment. Very sorry forgot her name but she only works there every tuesday. Thank you did a great job.

This is the third pet I’ve had privately cremated and the first time the remains were given to me in a plastic, cheap container. I know it may be ridiculous sounding but it seems so disrespectful to receive your loved one in what appears to be fancy Tupperware with a Avery label stuck to the side. My previous two came in nice wooden boxes (from other facilities). I now understand why people spend so much on fancy caskets for their loved ones only for it to be buried... It’s about respect.. Will never use this place again.

Caring.

Wouldn't know what to do without Darla when my cat died. She went above and beyond when my sweetheart Jade journeyed to Rainbow Bridge. All ❤ to PCOT.

Unfortunately, we have had to use Darla's services several times over the many years we've lived in Tucson. Fortunately, every experience has been exceptional. Our very first experience was a very hot summer night when our dog died unexpectedly. I called the number expecting to leave a message, but Darla answered. It was almost midnight when she met us with our pup. We quickly went over the paperwork, and she explained we could pick out our urn when we came to pick him up.We had to use her again yesterday, and as always she was wonderful. She's spectacular with kids; she's encouraged them to send drawings off with their pets, and to pick out remembrance stones from her garden area. She's patient when they pick out urns, and her resident cat is always friendly and ready to get lots of petting. The kids have always left feeling like their beloved pet is in good hands, and we have as well.I've never known her to be rude, or disrespectful. She is a no-nonsense type, with a dry sense of humor....and very witty at times. Her business is very regulated. I did not know that every time her crematorium is turned on she must have the paperwork that matches, she has fire dept. inspections every 3 months, and a while ago her crematorium caught on fire due to faulty repair work and was closed for almost a year. It's a family run business, so when Darla apparently got "upset" that another reviewer wanted to be present for the cremation and "push the button", it wasn't something she knew in advance or was prepared to do right that minute. We've always been very happy to have this long-time Tucson family business handle our cremation needs.

Based on the reviews I read I decided to give them a call when my dog recently passed. I called 4 times, got a busy signal each time. So I tried to email them and never got a response. Needless to say they were not concerned with me or taking care of my pet.
