The ONLY reason I am giving this place a one star is because there is not a place for a MINUS - star. I have two beautiful Australian Shepherd dogs I brought them to this so called heart of the mountain pet resort and to say I am disgusted would be an understatement. Last night and through the early morning I noticed one of my dogs was not in the kennel as you are able to watch a live video stream of your pet at any given time. I noticed that the one I could see kept scratching at the back pet door to go out as her sister was clearly on the other side in the very frigid below freezing weather 23 degrees to be exact. I decided to record from my phone for proof that one of my dogs was intentionally left outside in the below freezing temperatures. I do have video proof of what I am saying and I have recorded proof that one of my dogs was not where she was supposed to be over the span throughout the night and early morning. I went early to confront Steve ( manager of this place ) I came right out and asked him where my dog was last night as I did not see her on camera and he boldly lied straight to my face and said I must have missed her and she was laying down behind the door or something. Then Steve said nervously “ I tell you what though that dog is a barking son of a gun” I already knew he had lied to me and after he made that comment it solidified that he indeed had locked her out in the freezing cold and for that reason. We have boarded our 2 German Shepards here Max and Roxy several times throughout the last 2 years, Steve is a fantastic customer service guy. It is clear he is passionate about animals. The facility has cameras which my wife found very comforting on vacation, this was the first place we ever boarded and it was seamless and straightforward, Steve fed and administered meds properly for our aging dogs, I highly recommended this kennel and for the cost with a discount for multiple dogs in one kennel it’s a great value !

Heart of the mountain is definitely a great place to board your dog! Steve is very passionate about the care he provides a person's pet! A person can utilize the camera app to view your pet anytime. Steve also provides the multiple injection shot for a person's dog who needs it. Great boarding place and centralized near the show low area!

So happy we found this place. Went to show low to stay in a cabin for a couple of days and we were not allowed to bring pets. I have this one dog that always causes trouble when we are gone because he has separation anxiety. My wife found this place and we were skeptical at first but when we got there renew it was a good fit because they truly care about your pets here. Steve was there and handled us from start to finish and he truly loved our dog. He even let me come and visit him one of the days so I can take him out for a walk and show him some love. Pricing is reasonable, and the dogs kennel and dog run is fairly large. He makes sure to keep it closed when it's cold outside so the pets remain warm. When we got there Teddy literally ran up to Steve before we left to show him some love so I know he was taking care of him good.

Never judge a book by its cover, this pet resort is sensational. My dog was there for 3 days and there was no problem, he had a kennel in excellent condition, a great comfortable bed but above all Steve was very attentive to all of Austin's needs, he is a very shy dog and even so Steve had the necessary patience so that he felt very good, he is also an excellent person.The next time I have to leave my dog, I will leave him here again because I can be sure that he will be in very good hands. Many years ago I got one of my dogs from her that owned it. Laurie was her name.. when I stop by talked to some guy that was there and told him my story and he's quite nice. I hope they do well. My friend used to have like miniature horses and little Billy goats along with standard poodles and mini Austrian shepherds. That's where I got my Aussie from

We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the kennels and the runs. Our huskies seemed to be very comfortable while there and the fact that we could watch them at all times was really cool, seemed they were having a sing along with Steve at one point. You can tell how much he loves dogs. The prices are very reasonable and yes you need to pay in cash. I highlyRecommend it.

Steve was great! Clean facilities, loved that our two dogs had access to their runs whenever they wanted and we were allowed to bring in toys for them. I especially loved the 24 hour web cams so that we could keep an eye on our pups whenever we wanted. Would happily use them again next time we're in the area.

I love this place, my Yorkie really loved this place. I could see her anytime day or night with their video camera set up. Steve really cares about the animals and knows them all by name. First time I didn't worry about my fur baby while I was out of town. I knew she was well taken care of!

He was very attentive to Austin, as we had mentioned that it was his first time bordering at a kennel. We highly recommend Heart of the mountain. I am so thankful for Steve and Heart of the Mountain Pet Resort. Like most pet parents my Border Collie boys are so precious to me --my canine children. Until recently they went with me wherever I went (except work). When we had to travel this last April, it just wasn't possible to take them, we were almost going to cancel, but my boss recommended Heart of the Mountain. We didn't want to disappoint our 91 yr old uncle so we decided to give HOTMPR a try. SUCH A BLESSING!!! Now when we have to go somewhere it's going to be hot, Pal and Joe Boy stay here. Steve takes such good care of all the animals and is so kind and patient with the shy, frightened ones. We whole heartily recommend Heart of the Mountain Pet Resort.

The facility is clean and I have no doubt that my dogs were well taken care of. I will not be returning due to the fact that I do not appreciate Steve’s attitude. If you are open on a Sunday until 10:00 am then you should not close until 10:00. I arrived at 9:53 to pick up my dogs and was scolded for being late by Steve. I drive from Overgaard. I do not appreciate the nasty attitude we have been treated with the two times we left our dogs there the last two weeks. I prefer to deal with a facility with good customer service something this place is lacking in my opinion.

Steve is great. He really cares about all the dogs and gives each one special attention. He even gives our dog her booster shots (much better than the vet)! HOTM Pet Resort is very reasonably priced and very clean. Our dog comes home hoarse from barking, but healthy and happy.

We have been bringing our dog here since she was a pup, she is close to 4 now. Steve has always been patient with her. When she started going she was anxious but once she got to know him she loves visiting him. I love taking her here because I know she's in good hands.

I love this place! I left all 3 of my dogs there (1large, 2 small dogs) and was able to check on them via a camera pointed at their kennels. It's clean, cool, & they were well cared for by Steve. I'll use them again & highly recommend them!

Over the years I have used many kennels for my pets and I'm tellin' ya, this is the best ever. Steve, the fellow who works/lives there is second to none as far as truly caring for your pet is concerned. I first went there for an unannounced tour and was shown the whole place and came away totally impressed with the cleanliness of the kennels. The service to me and my pet is simply outstanding. Highly recommend!

This place is great and we feel our dog is safe and happy. However, I just had an altercation with Steve. Apparently, he thinks he can read my mind by what he said was me shaking my head at him. He went into a rant about having to clean the kennel when it goes beyond the time. I never said a word. He is arrogant and way off base! This ratting is for Steve not the facility.

Got to facility with our dog and found out didn't take credit cards. Pulled our dog out of kennel immediately and Steve said since your dog got my kennel dirty technically I can charge you for the day. We said ok fine he said he wouldn't though.Had us sign the drop off sheet anyway I thought that wasn't necessary since our dog wasn't boarding that day and I questioned it myself as possibly being under handed but said wouldn't charge us which he shouldn't since he provided no service to us.Suggestion to business if isn't already stated on website.... Let your customers know cash only so they don't waste their time going to your place to drop off their dog and possibly having their trip ruined. We should have asked too but should be on website if isn't already!!Also be courteous and professional!!! If a customer changes their mind DON'T threaten to charge them and be mean because they are paying you and may not want to return if you want to act unprofessional after all they are choosing you and don't have to choose you!!! Bad way of doing business!!! Ended up not boarding dog with them especially after way he acted and will not return in the future.

Not sure what's going on with Steve. Been boarding my dog there for years. During the last boarding he was accusatory, defensive, lacked attention to detail, and just rude. Wish him the best but I'll be going elsewhere.

Made an appointment a week ago and when I ATTEMPTED to drop my pet off 1/2 hour before we were to be picked up for a trip to the valley. When I arrived I was told they were booked solid! Excuse me??? I was then informed that we were both called to be notified. Nope. Didn't happen. We checked our phones and neither one of us had missed calls, a message left or anything at all. We had to leave our dog alone for 10.5 hours with no way for him to be walked. Certainly not pleasant for him! We're done. We'll find someplace else from now on. Walt & Snookie.

First time using kennel for a 3 day stay for my 16 year old dog, Jack. I was a little nervous because my dog hasn't been in a kennel since I rescued him 10 years ago. Steve made me feel that he could take care if him and I also felt better since I could check on him through the petcam. Kennel is very well managed and very clean. Would recommend to al my friends.

We took our dog here for 5 days. It was nice that they have cameras so my MIL could see what her second child was up to whenever she wanted. I also used this company previously for my dogs burial and the gentleman was so kind and informative of the process after the vet did not tell me everything. Thank you

I am not rating the facility just my interaction with Steve. I called to board our husky and while I was confirming the pick up time I needed to be there or choose to book an extra night since we would be traveling home that evening. He let me know that “let me tell you how I run this place and if you’re not back by 11 you pay for an extra day and that’s how it is”. I am fine paying for an extra night because I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it back by 11. And once he told they closed at 6 that I would need the extra night because I knew there was a possibility I wouldn’t make it back by that time either. He was rude and assumed he knew what I was asking before I even stated my question. No thanks we will board at a facility that can communicate with respect.

We were a daily addition to this resort's doggie day care for several years. We loved it and NEVER got sick! People are awesome, professional and personable. We moved quite far yet recommend you take your pets here to be worry free!

I'm about to book my little guys there again. Very impressed with the care and cleanliness and that is the only place I consider when visiting family in the White Mountains. The staff have a genuine fondness for animals and my dogs could sense that right away.

Our dog Sammi doesn't like car rides much and she can get upset with changes to her "routine", but when we pull up to Heart of the Mountain she gets excited. She loves this place, and they seem to genuinely like the pets too.

He let me know that “let me tell you how I run this place and if you’re not back by 11 you pay for an extra day and that’s how it is”. I am fine paying for an extra night because I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it back by 11. And once he told they closed at 6 that I would need the extra night because I knew there was a possibility I wouldn’t make it back by that time either. He was rude and assumed he knew what I was asking before I even stated my question. No thanks we will board at a facility that can communicate with respect.

This was the first time that I used Heart of the Mountain. I was so impressed with Steve and the facility . My boys came home and seemed happy. I will definitely use them again. Thank you!!@

We were a daily addition to this resort's doggie day care for several years. We loved it and NEVER got sick! People are awesome, professional and personable. We moved quite far yet recommend you take your pets here to be worry free!

I'm about to book my little guys there again. Very impressed with the care and cleanliness and that is the only place I consider when visiting family in the White Mountains. The staff have a genuine fondness for animals and my dogs could sense that right away.

Our dog Sammi doesn't like car rides much and she can get upset with changes to her "routine", but when we pull up to Heart of the Mountain she gets excited. She loves this place, and they seem to genuinely like the pets too.

Never would I board my beloved fur babies. As a responsible pet owner, I adjust my life around my pets. I live very near to this location. If you need to board a pet, ask Jay across the street where to find Kaveman.
